this beer poured a very dark brown with a thick off white head that receded slowly leaving a film of lace on the sides of the glass. the aroma imparts a nice bit of the chocolate malt, that is evident in the color, as well as a bit of sweet malty nuttiness. the taste also comes through with the chocolate malt way in the lead but still has a nice nutbrown taste. a very drinkable beer.

Sampled on tap at the brewpub
Pours a cloudy dark brown color with a thinnish tan head that dissipates quickly. Smells of roasted malts and coffee. Slightly nutty and earthy. Smells like this is going to be darker than a nut brown ale. Taste is roasted coffee, chocolate, nutty, earthy, malty. Finishes a bit on the dry side with a long lingering roasted grain. Very tasty, but almost porter or stout like with a lot of roasted grain going on here. Medium to thin body and level of carbonation. I really enjoyed this beer, but again its hard to call it a nut brown.

Poured into a 4oz glass as part of a flight sampler at Roosterfish BrewPub (officially Wildflower Cafe).
A: Medium brown in appearance (duh) with nice head retention and strong lacing. Very clear with steady carbonation pillar.
S: Full aroma that includes some toasted malts, roasted nuts and a hint of chocolate malt as well.
T: Solid flavor. The malts really shine through on this one with steady hop-balance. Nutty oils obviously detected along with cocoa presence which is strange for a nut brown.
M: Medium-heavy carbonation on this but it's not overly carbonated. Nice smooth texture that coats the mouth and leaves me wanting more. May have been the quickest drinker of the flight.
O: Very nice beer worth seeking out. It's a nice low abv beer that I will enjoy again for certain.

A creamy brown head sits atop a brown body that is translucent only when held up to the light. Retention and lacing are both quite good.
The aroma has a powdery, cocoa aspect to it, as well as some nutty characteristics. Just a bit of malt sweetness.
This is a pretty good Brown Ale. It opens with big flavors of dry, powdery cocoa, and those fade into just a bit of malt sweetness and hints of fruity yeast underneath. Next comes a pretty assertive hop presence that is not as powerful as the malt, but it is definitely substantial. Bitterness and hints of pine and citrus come from the hops.
The carbonation is fairly high, and the body is about moderate. Pretty good feel overall.
This is probably the best Roosterfish beer that I have tried, and generally I will not reach for a brown ale first. If you stop at the brewpub, I would recommend reaching for this one first.

Roosterfish Nut Brown Ale...on tap at the Brewery/Wildflower Café in Watkins Glen
Appearance-dark dark brown, nearly black, lacy and large tan head on top which settles nicely, looks very nice in the pint glass.
Smell-large notes of coffee and nuts, mixed with sugar/molasses and notes of alcohol
Taste/Mouthfeel-again lots of coffee in the taste, sugary sweet, hops lost but it doesn't seem to matter, nice layers of sweet malt flavor, very smooth, coffee again on the aftertaste, medium bodied.
Drinkability-nice flavor, smooth
Overall-very well done, one of the better Brown Ales that I've had in a long time, really stands out, be sure to try this one.

Wow! I simply love everything about this beer and I would say its my all time favorite. The appearance is dark as a cup of coffee. It smells malty and nutty. It tastes like most other nut browns but it has something special to it that I can't describe. The taste is what seperates this nut brown from all the others I have had. I would compare this to DogFish Head Indian Brown Ale which I really liked but this nut brown beats DogFish head by far for me.

Dark in color with a monstrous tan head and some killer lacing to back it up. Smells of coffee bean and molasses with a hint of burnt malts. Taste is right on, nice display of the roasted malts and a great smooth texture. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy, medium in body with some stickiness. Good carbonation and hidden abv round it off. Its drinkable and then some, most definitely comes recommended, can't wait to try more from this brewery.

It is a dark brown beer with an off-white head. Strong aromas of nutty malt aromas backed up by a slight aroma of roasted barley. It really is one of the best smelling NBAs I've ever smelled. The taste backs up this beer to the fullest. Nice and clean, the aromas transfer to the taste perfectly. That lake water does something good for this beer. The mouthfeel is light and smooth. There isn't any bitterness that over powers this beer. It really is smooth. All in all, it is a really good beer.
