Good selection of brews...including American micros and imports from all over. Beer section is fairly well organized. UK brews are well represented. Good selection of gourmet foods, cheeses, hot sauce, coffee, etc. Picked up some tasty brews, cheeses, salad, and bread and had an impromptu picnic at a local park. However, I didn't care for the shots the store manager was taking at another WNY retailer when they had outdated product on their own shelves. No class. Still worth a stop when in Buffalo or when traveling through the area.

I stopped in here while visiting my brother over Christmas, Excellent Selection of beer, I found things I have rarely been able to find such as Ridgeway Stout, and some really nice craft brews from the pacific coast, and one of the last places that I was able to find Anchor's Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. The selection of Belgians was great, as well. They had a very nice selection of beers chilling too. My biggest gripe was that the prices were much more expensive than that of a lot of other places in the area. Also, the people that checked me out were quite incompetent, and not friendly at all.

Fancy food and fancy beer at fancy prices. They have a great selection of American micro's and a descent selection of imports. Aranged by country, I liked the layout of the store. The staff doesn't seem very knowledgable, but they are there to sell food more-so than beer. The prices seem a little steep also. What I would normaly pay $4 for, I am spending $5 at Premier. But that's okay. It is the best thing Buffalo has to offer. They have a great selection and could get even better if prices were to drop a little.

I found this store using the BeerDir and it was great! This store has a really great selection of beers, both import and american micros. Way more stouts/porters than I am used to in Texas. Somewhat pricey, but that is ok when it means drinking better beers.
The store also has a great deli where you can stock up on cheeses and meats for matching. Decent bakery, and my favorite feature: free espresso.
The store next door is the Premier liquor store where they have a tremendous selection of wine. This is one stop shopping.

I was told about this place by a fellow homebrewer as well as a co-worker of mine on separate occasions, so I decided to finally check it out. I have returned a number of times since then.
The selection truly is exceptional. They have a good representation from both craft brewers and quality imports alike. Lots of singles to choose from.
My only issue with this place is that they store the majority of thier Beer at room temp. I think that they're doing well enough that they could afford to keep the Beers cool. Someone should donate a few big fridges or something to them.
The service is good.
On one occasion I needed to find some Bock's for a tasting that I was planning and one of the employees spent a good 1/2 hour with me searching for different Bock's that I didn't already have. He even looked up stuff in some books for me to see what they could order in time for the tasting.
Overall impression was a good one. I will return for more Beers in the future...and if I have enough time I might check out what else they have to sell me. I understand that they have a good selection of wines too.

Cheers: Fancy schmancy place. FREE Beer tastings once a month (and it includes cheese and crackers, a quick snack before a "session"). $10 growlers of Flying Bison and CB's are the way to go. Staff is very knowledgable and willing to help you out. Excellent selection of imports.
Six packs are slightly pricy, but your other choice is a 12er of Blue form Sunoco. Empty carriers for single bottles. Upcoming events listed on dry erase board. One is allowed to write on dry erase board. Singles of pretty much everything are available. The wine selection is amazing, the best I have ever seen. You could finish a bottle of Bully Hill while walking @ the place. Armed security (actually off duty transit cop) is very friendly. Bathroom is co-ed which could be a good thing (or bad) if you leave the door unlocked.
Jeers: Here in Buffalo, no other place exists besides Consumers Beverage at Eggert and Sheridan. And that's not even close. No directions or map to beer section causing me to wander around. Uncomfortable feel if slightly buzzed, almost paranoid, maybe due to the customers staring at me. One is not allowed to place the carbon fiber techron plated strainers with micro-lock technology on their head and walk around. No DFH Punkin Ale.

Every time I walk into Premier I end up spending more time than I planned. They have a great selection but unfortunately, this past weekend they seemed to be out of stuff. I imagine because of the Super Bowl and the tasting on Saturday (unfortunately I did not have knowledge of) from 12-3.
I enjoy the fine selection of Belgiums and US brews. Didn't get a chance to talk to the clerks but they are usually very informative and friendly. All in all a good experience, but I usually end up wandering around like a kid in a candy store with too much money in his pocket and not enough decision making capability.

After several visits to Consumer's Beverage during recent trips to Buffalo, I decided to try a different place simply for a change of pace. This place pretty much has all that Consumer's has plus some. The prices varied a bit, some were the same and others were a bit more than the other place.
A nice kid helped me find everything, as I was a bit overwhelmed and in a hurry due to some tag-alongs. I had a list, and the guy who helped me was able to direct me to everything, and had great knowledge of what was on their shelves.
I bought a ton of stuff, spent $280. The cashier was friendly enough though not talkative.
Personally I do not like the fact that this is a gourmet food store. Too many people in there and the aisles are too tight. Carts are too small as well. I was not comfortable pushing around a full cart of beer and actually drew some curious looks from the other customers.
I am glad I checked this place out, but in the future I will probably stick with Consumer's, it's closer to my parents, and it's a beer store after all.

Quite the selection of beer tucked in the corner of this gourmet store. Organized by country and by state. Great service and knowledge from Ethan who runs the beer department here, if you can find him. Nearly all brews are available as single bottles and in some cases, even cans. Large cooler along the back wall as well as an area for chilled singles. You can check their inventory via their website which is updated about every two weeks.
For one-stop shopping, this store also has its own deli, gourmet food and cookware, and a liquor store next door.
Probably the best place to go for beer in the Buffalo area.

In a word, selection. Organized by Country or State are a half dozen aisles. Buying a bottle rather than a six-pack make it great for sampling. Gaining a profile for Canadians travelling through the USA from Niagra Falls/Toronto as its near the border. European selection by far the best I have ever seen. Lots of gourmet packaged products of high quality. Staff are helpful but not knowledgeable about beer. I believe the manager is, but I am not passing through when he is available. Prices are a bit steep on the hard-to-gets but overall theya re fair.
