Pale golden blonde, lightly hazy, one finger of dense white head with some lace. Smell is malty, biscuit, slight sweetness, caramel like and quite clean overall. Taste is fairly malty, slight bitterness, mildly hoppy, sweet notes up front followed by caramel and toffee like qualities in the finish. High carbonation, medium weight and medium body. I thought this is good for what it is, refreshing and inoffensive, good beer to turn someone from macro to craft perhaps.

A: Hazy apple juice in Colour. Haziness is probably because a bit of the sediments got into the bottle. No head, no lacing and apparent high carbonation.

S: Crisp apple, wet grass

T: Flavours are very light. A bit of grass, low in apple flavours, grain, slight floral hops.

M: High carbonation, thin, crips, dry

O: This is an lawn mower beer for sure. It's basicly much better then macro, but at the bottom end of Micro. IMO Flying Monkeys should relook at their business plan and where they want to go. They have made so many great product and this is way too safe for them.

Grabbed a bottle from my brother when he came this weekend for Thanksgiving.
Bottle into pint glass just about to wash the car.

A- Crystal clear yellow pour, finger width snow white, soapy head. Lacing is decent.

S- Bananas, pears, grape skins, earthy malts and a touch of cereal.

T- Apple skins, cereal grains, slight spicy yeast taste, earthy hops.

M- Light bodied, good carbonation.

I was actually surprised to see this listed as a blonde ale. This is my first time sitting down and actually tasting and appreciating it. The word "Light" I guess threw me off all this time.

355 mL bottle from a mixed six-pack picked up at the brewery; bottled Aug 16 2012. As with their amber ale, the Robert Simpson name is absent from the packaging, with the brewery apparently casting off the last vestiges of its previous persona. Served very well-chilled, as seeing the word 'light' on a beer label is apt to cause me to do.

Pours a pale golden-blonde colour, completely translucent, and topped with one finger of puffy, frothy white head that maintains cohesion for no longer than two or three minutes, gradually wilting into a soapy cap and creamy collar. The aroma is malty and sweet, comprised of toasted bread, honey-glazed biscuits and some accompanying grassy hops to round it out. Decent so far by 'blonde ale' standards; positively impressive by light beer 'standards'.

Fairly tasty stuff, though (like their other pre-Flying-Monkeys brew, the amber) it is not as attention-grabbing as most of their more recent offerings. Biscuity malts and cookie-doughy, honey-like sweetness form the backbone, with a light brushing of grassy, slightly floral hoppiness that comes through toward the finish. Clean aftertaste with only some slight malty, honey sweetness. Light-bodied and a bit watery, which is my only real complaint with this beer - it's well above the mean for a light beer, but by blonde ale standards it just comes across as a bit diluted. Relatively high carbonation keeps it feeling quite crisp and refreshing.

The flavour profile is fairly straightforward, but far cleaner than the vast majority of the light beers I have tried previously - the categorization is definitely appropriate, as this seems akin to a lighter rendition of Railway City's Iron Spike Blonde Ale. I must admit, I am mildly impressed - although if anyone can do Light Beer justice, it would have to be these guys.

Final Grade: 3.48, a decent B-. Flying Monkeys' Antigravity Light Ale is probably the first 4% self-professed 'light' beer that I have ever been almost completely satisfied with. I'm not planning to scramble out for more any time soon (not that I've ever seen it distributed locally, anyway), but this is still a perfectly serviceable session brew that I would happily recommend to any light beer drinker seeking a more flavourful, less corny alternative. Most BAs will probably find that this doesn't have much to offer - but taken for what it is, you'd be hard-pressed to find many superior examples, at least in Ontario.

A - Hazy apple juice kinda colour, half finger of white head gone fast, medium carbonation, no lace and a ring of retention.

S -Floral, grain, gentle citrus hop,.

T - Grainy with some citrus hop, a little floral, leomn, tea-like notes.

Mo- God carbonation, light body, some grainy and citrus notes to finish.

O/D - This is very chuggable, lot's of flavour and light, not exactly great tasting but tasty enough for the style. An offering FM inherited from robert simpson that doesn't exactly fit their brand. They try to pass it off as special, but it's just another slightly more flavourful light blonde ale. The packaging claims it's hoppy but I'm sure that would depend on your experience with hoppy beers.

Appearance: It has a nice semi-cloudy pale yellow/golden color to it. It has a nice thick white head that dies down moderately/fast and leaves some lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of earthy and grassy hops with some grainy and bready malts.

Taste: Like the aromas, the earthy and grassy hops give it a light bitterness and it has a sweet grainy/bready feel.

Mouthfeel: It has a medium carbonation with a light overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with somewhat decent flavors and aromas.

smell was interesting. i got wheat/bread, strong bitterness, and a bit of grass/floral.

taste was light but crisp. grainy, malts. a bit odd and not the best drinkability.

overall wasn't the worst but still below average.

Pours a somewhat cloudy golden wheat colour with a soapy white head that dissipates quickly. Slight lace and a bit of a collar are left

I find Earthy, dirty and grainy tones in the aroma, along with a very faint sweetness. I perceive a high carbonation level in the initial mouthfeel.

There is definitely some taste here, it's just not very good. It starts somewhat dry then quickly goes watery and ends with a sweetness along with a nasty, dirty, sticky and almost salty aftertaste.

After trying the Hoptical Illusion, Netherworld Cascadian Ale and Confederation Ale from this brewery, their light ale is a huge disappointment and simply not on par with their other products.

Antigravity Light Ale certainly is easy to drink when it's cold, but becomes almost intolerable as it warms and tastes like it was served from a keg with dirty lines. It's best consumed within 20 minutes or so.

Had this on tap at a local pub. Pours a clear, light golden colour with an ok amount of head. Honestly, I thought this was terrible. I didn't have any other options actually. It tastes very bland and lacks flavour. I regreted my decision on getting a pint of this.

Thanks to korguy123 for this one.

A: Pours a clear golden color with a decent head that dissipates quickly. Some lacing.

S: Not a whole lot here, but some grassy/earthiness and a little but of hops.

T: Slightly floral with the hops, bready malts as well.

M/D: Light bodied. Overall, pretty good for a light lager, especially compared to any other light lager you might happen to buy. Would certainly prefer this to many others in the style.

More from my BlackBerry tasting notes on my vacation to Ontario. My first time trying this particular offering, but pleased with the other Flying Monkeys offerings.

A - Pours a nice pale straw colour, thin finger of head and no real lacing.

S - Scent is dominated by grassy and leafy hops, with bready wheat malts coming through on the finish.

T - Bitter and leafy green hops off the top, with bready and sweet corn malts coming through on the finish. Nothing outstanding, but tasty for a light beer.

M - No complaints in this department, light bodied beer that goes down smooth.

D - Overall, quite tasty for a hot summer day. Don't expect a flavour explosion, but for a light beer this one is much better than the others available on the market.

Bottle from LCBO.

Poured a light straw color with a decent white cap that didn't hang around long..weak lacing on the glass. Nice grainy-biscuit dough aroma (very pronounced) bit of sweetness and straw ,little else...one dimensional aroma.

Two dimensional taste with pale malts out-pacing the thin northern brewer hops...light fast finish light biscuit aftertaste.

Not a bad all natural brew and well made...approachable, fresh tasting, malty but uninspired and 2 dimensional....I'd buy this if it was a buk-a-beer brew but at this price there are better more inspired micro ales.
