Me. Dunderbak's is an interesting mix of German restaurant/bar/store with a very wide selection of American craft and international beer. Maybe the widest selection in the Daytona Beach area. Adding to the eclectic mix don't miss t"Doc" the Local dentist who sings Irish folk songs on Wednesday evenings!

If you like German and/or craft beer and want good Geam style food, this place is a must visit if you are in the Datona area.

I dinged them a bit on service as the woman who served us had to cover the whole area of customers, but it you catch them at quiet time, you'll be happy.

Food was very good traditional German Deli/German grill food at extremely reasonable pricing. After just two visits, the staff remembered me, and probably would have remembered my favorite beer if I hadn't been bouncing all over the menu of their 103+ beers to try a bunch I hadnt had in a while. Not to mention the bomber bottles on the bar of seasonal specialities from LeftHand, cigar City, Sierra Nevada and Stone. As an interlude to being stuck in Daytona Beach while my wife worked, this was an extremely pleasant surprise in a quite beer deprived area.

Oh Dunderbaks. I moved to Daytona Beach about 4 months ago, and I have been to every beer tasting there so its about time I review them.
Atmosphere is quite impressive. Tons of items all over the walls. This place definitely needs a bigger home for the shear volume it has in its inventory. Service is very friendly and responsive. Selection of beer varies, they do have at least 90 beers to chose from at all times though. Food is delicious. Come on a german deli with nothing but delicious meats and cheeses. Score!!!. As for value, I do believe you will get it here. Every beer tasting is $10.00, and you get to try 10 beers plus you have the opportunity of winning prizes through their beer trivia. Dunderbaks is a must for any beer lover.

The atmosphere is alright, there is food and beer all over the walls. my only complaint is that it is fairly cramped, this place needs to move out of the mall.

The service is great, the staff there is lovely.

The selection is alright. There isn't a big number of different beers but what they do have is generally quite impressive and usually rotating.

The food is german themed and quite amazing, i wouldn't mind getting fat over this menu.

I just went here for a beer tasting. 10 beers for $10, it was quite an amazing time. The people there are genuine, and the beers were also a treat! they have tastings once a month! something every beer fan in the area should try!

Visited on Sept. 4, 2010. This is a review of the store only.

Inside the Volusia Mall, not far past the food court lies this store. They seemed to be having a sidewalk sale though nothing of interest to me was there.

As i walk in, i'm struck as to how this store could be a hoarder's dream. Loads of mugs line both sides of the wall in the entrance. There's the cash loaded with miscellaneous items and on the right there's a bar. In the back, there's a few tables on the left and the beer shelves are near the back store. Every inch is covered and the store has a random, disorganized feel to it.

Selection is not bad. Had a few big bottles of CC, Southern Tier, Southampton, Fort Collins, Holy Mackerel, Ridgeway, Raccoon Lodge, big bottles of Samichlaus and some weird imports like Phuket from Thailand. A bit of dust on some of the beers. Lots of U.K. stuff i found. Selection is good but not great.

Service was not the best. No one approached me the whole time i was in the store plus it took a long time for someone to come to the cash with me and someone else waiting for awhile.

On top of beer and wine, you can get assorted chocolates, hot sauces and many other food items like deli meats and such.

Don't go out of your way but if you are in Daytona, it's worth a stop.

Stopped in during a visit to the Volusia mall while vacationing in Daytona Beach. Awesome atmosphere, lots of cool German stuff for sale along the shop / restaurant's walls (steins, glassware, 6-packs of craft and import brews, signs, German candy, etc.).

The place is as a restaurant / deli / beer store / wine store, and the overall selection is pretty good. I picked up a Duvel tulip glass, a Cigar City Humidor Series Ale, and a SN 30th Anniversary. I searched high and low around Daytona Beach, and this was the only place I could find that stocked Cigar City. It's the only worthwhile stop for a BA in Daytona Beach, period.

Came back in May 2010 for dinner and drinks. Atmosphere is quiet, mostly local patrons who mind their own business. Kooky decor full of retro beer signs, this place functions as a bar, deli, grocery, and beer store all at once, in a mainstream mall that is otherwise devoid of culture.

Service is decent enough, especially if you get the owner. He grabbed me a cold bottle of Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary as I was paying my tab. Great, friendly guy. Our waitress on the other hand was slightly aloof, but reasonably quick with the drinks and food.

The beer menu is nearly unmatched in Daytona. On my latest visit they had Southern Tier Un*Earthly, SN Torpedo IPA, Oskar Blues Old Chub, Samuel Smith Yorkshire Stingo, and Unibroue Quelque Chose, among countless other offerings. McK's Tavern, Shores Festhaus, and Ormond Wine are the only other places that come close to the selection here.

Food is superb and authentic German cuisine, including various schnitzel and sausage dishes. I had the excellent Jaeger Schnitzel with a mushroom gravy sauce and fresh baked beans. It was the perfect companion to my IPA and scotch ale.

Overall, Dunderbak's is one of the top places in the city to enjoy quality beer and dining. If you're in the area, drop by to have a brew with some top-flight European grub.

Located in a mall near the food court in beer starved Daytona Beach. Just a mile away from the Speedway. They had 14 beers on tap including a few American and German beers. Decent bottle selection (had a Arrogant Bastard and my buddy a Long Hammer IPA) Service was good and speedy, the food good as well.

It also is a German market with lots of German food; jelly, chocolate, canned foods. All in all a good place and one of the few in Daytona with REAL BEER!! You have to take what you can get in this city!

Ahhh. A little bit of Der Vaterland here in the Magic F'ing Kingdom. I know there's a reason for Daytona's (higher than average) native German representation. And I'm pretty sure it predates the Orlando Amusement Juggernaut. Anyway, Herr D's opened over 30 years ago.

They're in a mall (Gasp!) -- near the food court but thankfully not in it. Their taps are limited -- But they always seem to have an -or from some Deutscher brauerei. Yesterday it was Spaten's Optimator (as it was last Oktober.) The food is good -- but don't expect family style and expect to pay a slight premium for some reason. Though the place stays busy during lunch. My Schnitzel sandwich seemed more overly deepfried than necessary and a bit small for $9. (I heard the same complaint (smaller than expected for the price) from my aunt who happened to be in town and found herself there earlier.

Still for North/Central Florida - at least you can find something other than what's good at a 88deg/88% humidity softball game. They've got a better selection of bottles for take out or on-site consumption (though hopheads probably will have a little trouble finding the flower. Strange for such a warm climate) They also have a reasonable selection of mini-kegs. Paulaner Oktoberfest is there. A few Kolsch. Now, a Salvator would be killer but alas not.

Stopped in for a quick pint while in Daytona on business. Located right off the food court at the mall, surprisingly cool little place. Long bar on the right hand side walking in, long deli on the left. In addition to all German fare and a variety a beers, the place seems to also be a European-style convenience store, with a number of steins, souvenirs, woven baskets, and beer signs/paraphernalia. I didn’t get anything to eat, but the food was all German, with brats and schnitzel. The beer list was pretty good, lots of your major European exports, but some good harder to find German lagers and weiss’s and a few American micros. I went with a Tucher Weiss followed by a Redhook Long Hammer IPA. $6/pint was a little high. Below the deli they had shelves full of good six packs for takeout. Service was good, live music (guy with a guitar) going on in the back. Very cool, family-run feel. Great place, I’ll go back next time I’m here.

Wow!!! Now I have a reason to go to the mall. Tucked inside the Volusia Mall in Daytona Beach just across from the speedway is Mr. Dunderbaks. Its a long narrow store featuring a bar on one side and a deli counter on the other. The walls adorned with hundreds of different signs and "knick knack" type items-2/3 of which seemed beer related and all for sale. Theres also perhaps 200 different beer steins for sale ranging from the different Anheuser Busch series we have all seen to authentic German steins. There are several tables to sit and have a sandwich or a meal.

The long bar is a bit crowded with 5 liter kegs for sale. The beer menu is fairly standard-theres some "treats" that are always nice to find but the occassional seasonals on the bar and scattered about are what youre after. Theres different six packs throughout the store tucked in different spaces. It could really use some type of organization but this encourages you to see everything for sale. Relax at the bar and then wander a bit. They had some decent gift packs for the holidays-Duvel, De Konig, Scottish Beers.

The deli is stuffed full of German meats-from knackwurst, sausage and liverwurst to blood sausage, head cheese and stuff I couldnt pronounce if I had to. They carry Ussinger's products from Milwaukee which is really great stuff. Imported cheese are there too. The walls also have a huge international array of different foods to purchase.

Have not eaten here myself but the menu has some great looking sandwiches on it as well as schnitzel and other German dishes. I wouldn't really call it a "beer bar" or "liquor store" per se but its a nice little oasis in the middle of a guys shopping nightmare. Poke around-you'll find something to suit you.
