Discount Liquor, this place is a gem. A fairly large store, well worn, and heavily used. Each and every time I set foot in Discount I'm like a kid in a candy store.
Scandinavia and Belgium are heavily represented with a lot of tough to find bottles. Half of one long aisle is all American craft, mostly bombers and 750s while the opposite aisle is full of sixers and random bombers/singles. The New Glarus is always stacked up at aisle end with case upon case and in the cooler. The Thumbprint Series usually goes back three or four releases and Wisconsin beer is very well represented. The people stocking shelves are usually pretty busy but more than happy to answer any questions or grab something from the back if not on the shelf.
Directly to the right upon entering is a little nook with glassware. There's always something new with any style to suit your needs all at good prices.
I never pass up Discount when taking a trip to Milwaukee. I suggest you do the same.

We stopped here on a recent trip up to Northern WI. Greeted by a large double aisle of RT beers, right side mostly WI and other US, left side imports and US beers from further afield. Some singles, lots of hard to find things. Very impressive selection of everything, excellent prices too. Some cool and inexpensive pint glasses from a number of breweries. I picked up lots of singles of stuff (Tyranena Brewers Gone Wild Series, NG Unplugged series, Capital Vintage Ale, Sprecher African series, etc), intending to stop again on the way home but then we decided to skip it due to not wanting to get off the highway. No matter, i'll be up there again.

I treked up to Milwaukee recently with fellow BA autumnaldave...this being our first stop on the trip. From the outside, this looks like any corner liquor store in any city in America...macro neons and an old weathered exterior. It definetly hides the gem of a store that lies within! A huge row of craft brew greets the beer lover upon entering. There's a massive selection of imports with what seems to be an emphasis on German and Belgian treats. Cantillon in full effect, I picked up a Saint Lamvinus for a cheap $27.99. You have to use an eagle eye on the shelves as there is so much you're likely to pass up some gems you've never seen before.
There was a small selection of singles, including New Glarus Unplugged Eisbock of all things! I grabbed a few as I thought I would never see this beer! As we were walking in the aisle, we got apporached by a gentlemen who asked us if we liked Delirium Tremens at all...Dave commented that he enjoyed the Noel, and the gentlemen said, "Oh, well I am the brewer!!" Can't beat meeting brewers from Belgium in a store in Milwaukee, WI.
There's something for everyone on the shelves here, Three Floyds, Bear Republic, Oskar Blues, New Glarus, Fish Tale, Smuttynose and even more. Service was good in the beer aisle, I got approached multiple times and asked if I needed help with anything. Simply an awesome beer store that I could've spent a week's paycheck in without much problem. If you're heading anywhere near Milwaukee, this is a destination. I'll bet you any money you'll find something here that you've been searching for!
You need to go to Discount whenever you are in Milwaukee, there is simply no excuse not to!

Drove up here purely for beers I can’t obtain in IL (read NG). I went on a Thursday morning (around 11) and when I went in the store it was BUSY. No joke, I have never seen a liquor store so busy on a random Thursday morning. The quality was okay…the store needs a re-do eventually but for what it represents it to be, it is fine. The service was okay – there was a distributor there that was more helpful than the employees. The employees didn’t really even help me in the least. However the selection is where it really shines. There was some great stuff there – tons of NG stuff (much which is gone elsewhere), SA Triple (sure it sucks but I’ve been wanting to try it!), other one off stuff. All in all I dropped $200 when here (might as well stock up). The value was also pretty good. All in all a good store to stop in when you are in the area.

Small dumpy looking store which I would swear would be a place only for cheap malt liquors in regards to beer. Good thing this beerfly is here!
I walk in and am in amazement instantly. Lots of cool brewery specific glasses sit to the right in a smaller room. There really is only one aisle of beer but what an isle it is! Lots of German beers (esp Mahr's) that I've been longing for and finally get to try. Great selection of Belgian and English beers. I wondered the aisle about 4 times through in amazement. Tons of American micros which I have never seen in Michigan as well. Prices were ridiculously cheap compared to Michigan prices. I was astounded by how cheap some of those beers were compared to what they fetch in GR. Mostly Wisconsin micros and macros in the coolers in the back. Sucks that they couldn't be broken up but oh well. Service was kind of weak. No real help even though I looked like a deer in the headlights with the amazing selection. I also seemed to be putting off the cashier by making her work even though I was spending around $150. But the others seemed friendly enough. Best selection I have ever seen in a store and cheapest prices. What a combo!

The first thing I saw was a rickety old lookin' grocery store, but turned into a liquor store, and like many other liquor stores there was only one row for beer with a little bit of a refridgerated section.
I was pretty impressed by how many different kinds of beer they had and how good the prices were. The only thing that came to mind was how long they've been there, but it didn't seem like the biggest deal.
I was taken back very much when the 17 year old looking girls behind the counter just dropped the beer in my box like a cannonball, I was so pissed and I just wanted to yell and scream that they should treat costumers beer a little better so WATCH YOUR BEER when you check out.
Overall it will be a great stop next time I'm in Milwaukee.

This is a very ugly place, but I don't go there for its looks...
Service is very polite and courteous, but most of them seem to know close to nothing about beer. I heard a lot of things about Mary, but did not have the luck to find her there.
Selection is pretty good, although I could not find a few of the things I was looking for (I am very picky, and am always looking for ridiculously hard to find stuff).
It still has a nice selection of belgians, although lacking St Bernardus. A good selection of locals, missing only Lake Louie's of importance. All in all, one of the best places around.

From the outside this looks like your typical large liquor store. From the inside this looks like your typical large liquor store. So you walk back to the part of the store where you expect to see 5000 cases of BMC and a sixer two of Spotted Cow and Sam Adams and whatnot, when awww SNAP dogg! A huge beer section jumps out at you. You name it, they’ve got it. Probably 20 New Glarus beers, some of them a couple years removed from their releases. Some other good vintage beers, along with just about everything that’s seen distribution in Milwaukee recently. Prices are very reasonable. No frills really, and the decor is certainly not impressive, but it’s one hell of a store which can be your one-stop shop for loading up on Wisconsin beer.

Beer nirvana. Went there last week and dropped a serious wad of cash. Might account for the great service I got, but hey. Helluva selection of excellent imports and micros plus the usual other drivel. Had a great selection of whiskey too including some Hirsch and Van Winkle. The lady who is the buyer helped me a bit and was easy to talk to and made approptiate suggestions. I do wish they would do something about exposing the beer to the fluorescent lights. And watch the age of a few of their beers as well. Had a great selection of the Mikkeller stuff including the outstanding single hop varieties. Also a couple of unusual Berlinger Weiss and some German fruit syrup to go with it. Would be fun to check out the rest of the store but I spent and hour or two just loading my cart up with the 100 or so brews (single bottles) that I did get. Definitely return one a these days.

I have heard great things about this place, so I had high hopes going into this place; they were met.
The building itself is not much to look at, but it is absolutely stocked with beer. Most of the local stuff is in the back in coolers.
Words actually do not describe how good the selection is here. Great imports from around the US as well as worldwide. Some great prices too.
I could have easily spent $100s since everywhere I looked there was something I either wanted or have not tried yet. Superb selection with prices that caught me off guard.
If you are anywhere near Milwaukee, this is the place to go. This and Ray's are in my opinion are the best beer shops in the area.
