Formerly Trader Joe's Bohemian Lager
Josephbrau Plznr (pilsner) is a celebration of noble hops from central Europe. This style of beer was deeloped by German brewmaster Joseph Groll in 1840 in the town of Plzen (Pilsen), Bohemia (modern day Czech Republic) and was the first beer to be brewed golden and clear. This beer's pin-point fine bitterness is perfectly accentuated by its crisp body.

A: Clear golden straw color, large white head, dissipates rather quickly, spotty lacing
S: Malts, floral hops
T: Sweet malts up front, nice hop bitterness comes in, bready aftertaste
M: Light
O: Not as bad as I thought when I saw the reviews. Nice flavorful lager, Ill take this any day over most domestic lagers.

A: [4.00] The bottle lists the ABV (5.0%) and there is a best by date (10/13/2017). Very transparent straw color. Forms 1 finger of bright white head.
S: [2.25] Corn, wet cardboard, some vergital scent and dirty dish rag. It is not good.
T: [2.75] Corn, frosted flakes, there is some kind of hop presence.
M: [3.00] Light body and fizzy carbonation. There is a slight dry finish.
O: [2.75] This looks decent. It falls apart after that. The aroma is flat out bad. The flavor is fair. It is just not a good beer.

Pours a crystal clear yellow color with a bright white head. Head is comprised of large bubbles and dissipates quickly leaving a little lacing on top. Smells like a buttered biscuit, which is a little off-putting. Taste is okay, biscuit malt flavor takes precedence, with a grassy hops flavor, finishing with a light cracker flavor. Finishes cleanly. Overall it's okay, but the smell was rather distracting, kind of made me brace each sip.

12 oz bottle BB 8/27/17 poured into mug at fridge temp 5%ABV 18 IBU. The beer is pale golden colored with short lived white head. The head settles into a ring and there is a small amount of lacing. Aroma is semisweet malt. Taste is bready malt followed by just enough grassy hop bitterness to even things out. Mouthfeel is not crisp to style standards, but not terribly off either. Overall, another enjoyable, economical beer from Trader Joe's. The labels on these beers are very informative and give great insight into what you are purchasing.

Aiming to be Czech styled, this pilsner is okay in my opinion. Pours golden with white head that vanishes rapidly. Good carbonation, but the aromas miss the Vienna mark. Taste the bready malt and grassy hops in a one two punch. Finishes light, crackery aftertaste yet really slick almost oily. Kept wanting to run my tongue across my teeth to no avail. Having had other stronger Czechs, this one receives lower marks. Affordability should never excuses quality.

Good beer. Pours brilliantly clear. Chalk white head. Decent retention. Nose is light grassy hops, bready biscuit malt, a touch of buttery diaceytl. Taste follows with the bready biscuity malt taking center stage. Supported by grassy hops and a touch of diaceytl. Clean, crisp mouthfeel. Lingering bready cracker on the finish. Very refreshing.
