There selection is good simply because charleston lacks a variety places with good beer selections. They do carry beers you will not be able to find in your local store but none of them will be cold if your looking for that. If you are near there check it out. They also have a "make your 6 pack" option good for trying a beer your not sure of.I did see quite a bit of beer glasses there that were pretty nice. to save time the beer is in the back to the right, right next to that stuff they make out of grapes.

It's a big store full of all sorts of goodies, mostly food, furniture, wine, and the beer selection is shoved over in the corner. For how small it was, I guess the selection was ok, nothing special though. Had some regional brews, with microbrews interlaced. Since the beer alcohol level is low though, it limits the selection. Overall it's just average. When it first came to Charleston a year ago, it was top of the line pretty much for imports and micros. Since then though, it's dwindled a bit and there has been a movement of great beer stores into the Charleston area. I would suggest stopping by though, just to check it out.

Q: There were some decent beers to be found here, but not that interesting when compared to other places.
S: While I didn't ask for (or need) help, the staff wasn't exactly what I would call attentive.
S: There were some good beers here: Chimay, Unibroue, Terrapin, Flying Dog and Witch's Brew. However, as I said, these can be found at most quality beer vendors.
V: These beers were a little on the expensive side. Could have been better.
This is a typical big store. No one is paying enough attention to make it really good. Not a place for repeat business.

Very similar to other world markets I have been to in the past, this one was not really a beer destination as it was a store with beer. Simple selections of common imports as well as some of the more common american micros that were around. Noone helping at all, and are they really suppose to here. I am not sure why places like this are even listed, they are not beer destinations at all, as every grocery store around has a similar section to be honest. Still, ehh, I stopped and then left, never to return

This place is a give and take. I know they have some decent stuff (Rogue Six packs, Cooper's, Flying Dog ect) and thats pretty good, but for an imports store its kinda disappointing. You would expect for them to have interesting import singles, but no its just lacking. I stopped in the other day while record shopping, and I just looked around for about five minutes then had to leave. Its really hard for this place to only be a 2 minute drive from total wine.
Its good if you happen to be there shopping for something else, but don't make a special trip for beer.
They do occasionally have cool pint glasses though.

This place left me a bit disappointed. The selection was moderate and all the beers were shelved and under harsh lighting. Also, I found a Spaten Oktoberfest and at first was excited. But looking at the best by date it was from 2005. I have heard from another beer geek that due to the low turnover, he has experienced about a 1 in 20 rate of "skunked" beer. While it did have a good selection of Rogue beers, they are all over Charleston at the time.
Like someone said, when you are less than a mile from Total Wine, it is hard to stop here.
As in price, I found an Ayinger Brau-weisse, but at a dollar more per 0.5l than Whole Foods.
They had an ok selection of glassware. But I would have expected more foreign brand glasses considering it was a World Market, instead all were for smaller less known American Micros.
Follow-up 4/15/07 On a whim I decided to stop in and give them another chance. I purchased the Oktoberfest and UNFORTUNTATELY it was skunked. Avoid this place at all costs.
Follow-up 4/28/07 At JPCleary's urging, I checked out the Summerville store rather than this store. The Summerville store is 100% better. No low gravity overaged beers. The staff is attentive and the store is clean and well organized. While I will never go to the Orleans store again, I can't wait to visit the Summerville store. Goes to show there is a great deal of variation even within a chain.
