Perhaps their best beer, obtained bottle at Champane's Cellars. Dry, chocolate coffee roast stout. Black, with enormous amount of mocha coloured head. Cocoa aroma, as well as roast and chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel. Similar to Oveltine, if Overltine was a beer. Good drinkability, though dry with sips revealing more sugar sweet and roast bitter.

Poured like oil from the bottle to the glass, however, remarkably not a cloying stout. Nice and roasty, smokey flavor with a clean dry finish. Not super complex flavors, but that makes it clean and drinkable. Light cocoa, dried fruit, with a tinge of floral hops make this a very drinkable and appreciated stout. Would not hesitate to buy a 6 pack.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Pitch black in color, with a chocolate milk head of foam
Aroma-Roasty,faint chocolate
Taste-Big roasty flavor,Subtle coffee and dark chocolate. Semi-dry finish, with faint herbal hop note. Decent flavor and drinkability. A nice match for a pulled pork sandwich.

Standard dark brown body with a 1/4" off espresso colored head.
The smell is pretty one dimensional and that's burn malt. There was a slight whiff of rotten garbage. After smelling this I was dreading tasting it.
The taste is heavy on the char with the slightest coffee.
Medium body, not soft or creamy at all.
As a beer in general I didn't mind drinking this, but for a stout it's poor.

This is a weak stout, to be sure. I expected so much more when I purchased the six-pack of it in Marshall, Michigan.
Appearance is nothing notable, smell is average. That was kind of a red flag for me when I didn't smell anything in particular in this stout.
Taste was not good, not good at all. Nothing distinctive and nothing good, just bland and gross.
Moutfeel and overall is meh. Nothing special, nothing awful. I hope this brewery does well and makes great beer, this just is not one of them.

A. Pours a dark brownish black with a thin tan head than has little carbonation, and retention, but has some really superb lacong on the side of my beer mug.
S. The aroma is chocolate, roasted barley, some molasses, some vanilla
T. The taste is some dried fruits which taste like raisins and rotting plums, some malted barley, some hops, a weak chocolate taste that is hard to notice that does not seem to mix well together. The after taste is the spoiled fruits and some hops.
M. The mouthfeel is a nice smooth creamy feel that finishes off with a nice dry feel.
D. The smell, appearance and mouthfeel makes this drinkable, but the bad taste makes me not want to drink this.
I see that a lot of reviewers liked this beer, and will admit that while this beer was made good for what it is, I just find it to not be a good tasting stout, but luckily there are stouts out there that I like.

Reviewed from notes made on 10/23/10.
A: Bonecrusher has a very dark black color with just a hint of brown. The head is a frothy, one finger mocha that retains fairly well. The lacing is pretty sticky in the form of large dots and arches.
S: The smell from the beer is not very powerful, but what is present consists of toasted dark malt and coffee. A slight hint of cocoa is detectable, but mainly roasted barley and water is the aroma.
T: Water is rather present in the taste as well, with a slight cocoa and coffee flavor. Hops are pretty present on the finish and combine with the malt to leave a very roasted, bitter aftertaste.
M: This is a pretty light and thin MF for an English Stout. The body is very watery and the finish is puckering. I would usually look for a little more creaminess in the feel of a stout with this a.b.v.
D: Overall, not a beer I would seek out again. It's just a little too watery and one-dimensional for a stout. It is an okay beer, but not one that really showed me a lot.

Presentation: Poured from a 12oz brown bottle into an Imperial pint glass. Label is a plastic stick on type, depicting a horned skull helmet wearing guy wielding a rusty/bloody axe. Described as an "aggressive ale" made with 5 different malts and 2 different hops. No freshness dating, but I picked this up at the brewery not too long ago.
Appearance: Pours with 1 1/2 fingers of dark brown head. This settles very slowly, dropping to a thin coating of foam and leaving behind nearly complete lacing coverage. The beer itself is as black as ink; opaque even at the edges. Some sediment remains in the bottle.
Smell: Strong aroma of roasted barley with distinct acidity/acrid overtones. Hints of bitter chocolate and black coffee.
Taste: Sharp, acrid roasted barley upfront without any of the associated malt body upon which it should be layered. Very thin. It is akin to hopped water.
Mouthfeel: average carbonation level. Body is very thin and watery.
Drinkability: Everything started out so well, but fell apart at the first sip. Ridiculously thin and watery. Oh well, one and done for this beer.

$7.99 for a mixed 6'er. No specs on the mfgr website. 6.4% ABV. "Robust","aggressive","huge" as described on the bottle...makes me skeptical already considering the 6.4%, which is quite average for a stout. Bottled conditioned, pours out to a cloudy deep black, forming a modest cocoa colored head with poor retention and nice lacing. Carbonation is mild to moderate. The aroma is quite nice with black molasses, black walnut, vanilla, chocolate, and prunes. The mouthfeel is good...smooth, but with a medium light body. Thankfully no kiwi fruit in this bottle like I have had in the other 3 from this mixed 6'er. The taste is a recap of the aroma...plenty of black patent and roasted barley give a nice burnt marshmallow taste with some french roast coffee in the middle. The finish is chalky, obviously supplemented with minerals, which is fine with me. I prefer this, but some may not. Mild earthy dank basement bitterness, which is cool. Hop level is spot on. There is a slight bit of tartness and astringency to this beer that is somewhat peculiar.
Overall, quite enjoyable. It's not a huge aggressive beer as advertised, but it's tasty and rich and doesn't appear infected like the other beers in this 6'er. I would purchase this one again. It reminds me of Bert Grants Imperial Stout if anyone remembers it...another misleadingly labeled beer.
