I have tried a bunch of Sixpoints and every one has been a surprise. Sixpoint ales seem to always be unique and very tastey.
Opening this you are greeted with a pungent, yeasty brew. Going for such a rich taste they could have easily messed up and gone too far, but it totally works. It has just the right wheat tartness to make it a really interesting beer.
Don't think that this is a light weight summer wheat. This is a serious beer. Like all other Apollos, this is one to have again and again.

let me preface this review by saying I find Sixpoints cans to be a little off. Not NEARLY as good as on tap and I'd argue that they are entirely different beers because the cans are contract brewed and kegs are brewed in Brooklyn. Better quality control in Brooklyn for sure. I've gotten skunked Sixpoint cans.
however, that being said, i think this is their best canned offering.
A- Nice pale, deep straw color that has a golden hue to it. very slightly cloudy from the wheat
S- bubblegum, a little citrus, sweet, pretty delicious smelling. no real sign of hops other than aroma.
T- this is a great sessionable option. a bit sweet for a full session but it's a great one nonetheless. wish there was a BIT more hops just cause Sixpoint tends to have a nice well established (although a bit predictable) hops profile with their beers.
M- they always nail it with this. a little creamy from the head but other than that, a beer that begs to be drank. great stuff from em.
O- not really wowed by this but could be enjoyed by any and all. looking forward to having it on tap at Pony, Blind Tiger, Rattle n Hum, Ginger Man, Etc. will update with another review when i have it on tap because i'm sure it will only be better.

wow. sixpoint nailed it on this one. clear, burnt gold color with an off-white head that holds and leaves proper lace. nose wafts clove, banana, bubblegum, melon and wheat exactly as it should and also carries a faint, almost flinty kind of rustic note as well. taste gives me just what i expect. clovey banana bubblegum melon bread in excellent balance. body is as full-bodied as light beer comes. spice and colve all the way with no overstated or unpleasant aftertastes and no alcohol detactable at all. to me, this is perfectly to style. tons of good things to say, but so spot-on, it almost needs no hyping. this it the stateside hefe-lover's kristalweizen supreme. very very good job sixpoint.

This is beautifully clear with a nice head and decent spots and streaks of lacing. Head has varies a bit with the pour and a vigorous one is well rewarded. Moving the score up from 3.5 to 4.0. Smell is stupendous with large amounts of banana, vanilla, clove, wheat malt, and bakery bread. The nose is so close to perfect to me that it almost pains me to score it as I do. Same with the taste. It follows the nose with clean rich flavors of juicy melon and banana, clove, cinnamon, light pepper, bubble gum, wheat malt and bread. Finish is very clean with light toasted grains and cinnamon to balance the superb banana clove spice notes. Feel is light with a spritzy carbonation and smooth overall swallow. This is one of the most drinkable beers I have ever had. At or near the top of the class. A great overall beer and one I am loading up on for the time being as this is one of this hefe head's dream beers. Just super and super drinkable. I'm in love!

Brilliant golden in body topped with marshmallow head that stays. Beautiful aroma of vanilla, floral, honey, and bubblegum. Great flavors here: floral, herbal hops, vanilla, juicy citrus, gorgeous output from the wheat and yeast. Light in body with medium carbonation that tickles the palate. Really well done. A perfect beer for the summer, hell, perfect for anytime of year.

A - Hazy golden-amber coloration; nice bubbly white head that retains and laces along the glass nicely.
S - Green apple, lemon rind, coriander, and pepper, some yeastiness to it.
T - Beer immediately hits with a sourness and finishes with a tartness. Very nice, balanced flavor evolution through the sip. Flavors include green apple, papaya, tangerine, sage, coriander, wheat, pepper.
M - Light to medium-bodied. Less carbonation than you might expect (could use a bit more in my opinion - not that I care for carbonation). Sourness/tartness lingers after each sip but clears thereafter if you're sipping it.
D - Quite an interesting beer. I really enjoy this. I will definitely be getting this again. Another impressive offering from Sixpoint.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. Fluffy, large white head, high retention. Slightly hazy, golden body, with soapy, sticky lacing. Aroma includes banana, bubble gum and banana taffy. Taste includes similar flavors. Certainly slightly different than a hefe, more hazy than expected for a kristal but overall quite tasty and I would think easy to drink for amateurs and beer geeks alike.

A - straw/golden color that pours quite opaque for a Kristalweizen. Soft, small head.
S - Vibrant, orange and a little bit of mustard? Also a little musty barnyard as well
T- Really well balanced and smooth, peppery, light and refreshing.
M- Lots of yummy dextrins with a light smooth finish
O- I really enjoyed this beer, I had it after a long weekend on Sunday evening outside. Really well done

Pours gold, with surprisingly little haze. Modest bar-pour head hat settles to rim bubbles. Good streaky lace.
Sweet, soft wheat aromas on the initial smell.
Fruity in many ways. The wheat flavor is subdued but very present. Subtle banana and coriander/clove notes. Full bodied with a heightened carbonation. In many an arch-typical wheat beer.

tallboy can poured into sam adams pint glass.
Appearance: hazy yellowish orange bodied beer with a tall 2 finger white head. Head drops pretty fast on this beer.
Smell: Smells fairly sweet; loads of bananas. Wheat, clove, pepper, and more fruity notes.
Taste: Big bananas overpower just about everything on the first sip. The beer tastes as sweet as it smells. Balance is added with hints of clove, green apple, a spicy black pepper note, and wheat.
Mouthfeel: light to medium bodied beer with moderate to high carbonation levels. Besides being fairly sweet its well balanced and very drinkable.
Overall: Really solid Kristalwiezen. I do enjoy drinking this style of beer this time of year when the weather gets hot. Love craft beer in a can and the price point is easy to swallow too.

A: Orang-y cloudy body with 2 finger head. I thought Kristalweizen is supposed to be... clear? but hey, it looks very appetizing.
S: Spice, pepper, clove, banana,
T: Wow... disappointing... It looks and smells great, but the taste falls quite short. It tastes alright at first but the flavor quickly dies... leaving you with some... unpleasant after taste.
M: I think it could use a bit more carbonation.
O: It's got all the elements, but maybe slightly too spicy for the style and the flavor just dies too quickly. I would just stick to Weihenstephaner (which is locally and cheaply available).

Thanks shutyourface for this extra!
A. Pours an orange gold with just a wisp of crisp white head. Head is somewhat disappointing and doesn't have great retention. Lacing is decent.
S. Clove, banana, apple, and freshly cracked pepper. Bit of toasted bread crust.
T. Pear, banana, apple, clove, but a slightly astringent, metallic finish.
M. Crisp, light-moderate body.
O. This is my first foray into this style and I feel like it's a slightly more concentrated, one-note hefe. There is a sharp pucker on the back end of this, an almost plastic quality that I think is the phenols that are supposed to be more subdued in this style. It's not bad by any stretch, in fact, I think this is a good beer. But I can't comment on how it measures up to the best in style and I can readily say I prefer Hefeweizens to this if this is the standard profile.

Appearance:
Slightly warm golden color, hazy (inappropriate for a Kristalweizen), medium head that dissipates quickly, leaves little lacing. If this is truly a Kristalweizen – it’s not crystal clear.
Smell:
Bubblegum, banana skin, paper ash, saltine and sweetness, slight lemon/grapefruit citrus, and tartness like the water in plain yogurt (lactic acid).
Taste:
Slightly tart, alluvial carbonate brightness, mushed orangey citrus character, saltine tea (if it existed), Perrier like mineral presence, acid reflux.
Mouthfeel:
Medium light, medium carbonation, finishes carbonate and powdery dry, like orange Tums.
Overall:
First I tried a few weeks ago was crisp and bright. The carbonate balance suited it. Still it far more character of a Berliner Weiße than a Kristalweizen. Yesterday I tried another and dumped it. Today I gave it another go. I know what a Kristalweizen is supposed to be, I know what a Berliner Weiße is supposed to be. This is far more the latter, but it’s not developing well at all. Maybe too much carbonates in the water conditioning. Unfortunate.

Kristalweizen eh? I suppose it doesn't make sense because this definitely isn't filtered but who am I to argue.
A- Hazy (not Kristal) yeast filled apricot orange body. A massive, foamy white head forms but seems to die at an impressive pace. Small ring remains and I see no lace. (Not gonna kill it here because it might be the glass I am using)
S- Fruity and yeasty. Notes of apple, lemon zest, banana, cloves and bread make up a pretty strong nose. Reminds me of a fruitier Hefe. A fairly strong tart flavor adds a nice dimension, not sure what it is from.
T- Really distinct flavor which again feels like a Hefe filled with citrus and fruit. Apple and lemon juice seem to hit me first followed by clove and spiced yeast and some banana flavors.
MF- Higher end carbonation in a light body with just a bit of a creamy feel. Ends tart and slightly bitter.
Has that German yeast feel with a tart, citrus fruit feel that I don't usually get in German beers. This is refreshing and really flavorful. I wish I knew more about the style.
