Pours a slightly hazy light orange color, half finger of head
Smell is sweet hops all the way, floral and cirtus at first, pine... no malt to be found, smells great!
Taste is sweet orange, pine, oily resins, bittering grapefruit, finishes with a bitter pine aftertaste
Mouthfeel is medium light with average carbonation.
Then lack of malt body really makes this one feel like a single and not a double! However the hop taste begs to differ!! Really good stuff here!

12oz. can into a Duvel tulip (best by 7/10/13
A: It has an extremely thick head that goes from 3 fingers to 1 finger pretty quickly, but after that the head is quite stable and you could probably float a penny on it. However, there is quite a bit of suspended sediment throughout. The dark amber color is a bit hazy/cloudy. Lacing is ok but spotty.
S: Smells like a very strong IPA that is heavy on the grapefruit and citrus, with a bit of light pine.
T: It is all pine and resin, but I guess should have been expecting that with a name like RESIN. Really tastes like the Pacific Northwest. Surprisingly, the aftertaste is pretty mellow, but all piney resin as you would expect. However, it will ruin your palate. There really isn't any nuance here, just the single flavor note.
M: The mouthfeel is very smooth with little carbonation.
O: I am finding that I prefer more of the citrus, grapefruit-y IPAS. I don't want to say it is like Ruination (because that is my favorite), but if you stripped away all the citrus and complexity of it, with a few less IBU's, then this would be that. However, I know a lot of people will like that it is a strong DIPA in a can.

12 oz pour into a FW Teku
Aroma: Smell is actually a bit more subdued than expected. Some pine, some citrus, and something off that I can't really place. Maybe a little tropical fruit but so light.
Appearance: Very nice orange with good head retention. Bubbles vary in size and leaves a nice lacing on the glass.
Flavor: A really nice malt flavor with hops present to back it up. Very pleasant grapefruit as the main fruit character, with pine on the finish. Respectable balance of malt and hops.
Mouthfeel: Good body, but maybe slightly too carbonated. Becomes creamy in the mouth after a few moments. Has a nice lingering bitterness on the finish.
Overall: Good DIPA but not as good as the standards of the class. The hops in this are a bit one note but at the same time the malt character does not really highlight them. An overall quality beer that I would definitely drink again, but not a standout in any way.

A - Nice color. Poured into a pint glass with a medium head which gradually faded away.
S - Pine all the way. Thought I was hit in the face with a spruce branch, not that that's a bad thing.
T - Went in for the piney goodness. I was left confused thinking I was about to taste what I had just smelled. Thought my palette was on break so I went in for more. Same thing. I don't want to say it tasted like a run of the mill pale, but I didn't find it to be that extraordinary.
M - Light and easy to drink, somewhat refreshing.
O - Definatly not bad, but not great. I've been wanting to try this one for a while and pleased I did. A good beer with a great nose.

L- Somewhat hazy copper color topped with a thick head. Head is long lasted and leaves a lot of lacing on the glass.
S- Hop, hops, and more hops. Piney, fruity, and floral all at once, pretty intense aroma.
T- Guess what it's a big hop bomb, nicely balances and well done though. Finish is a bit oily with a bitter final hit of hops.
M- Slightly creamy and not as viscose as I would have thought, seems a bit lacking here. A little less than medium in body and medium in carbonation. I would have liked a bit more body but its not a terrible miss.
O- If you want a hop bomb, it's the way to go. I would have never guessed it's 9.1% ABV either, so that makes it a bit dangerous as well.

A- Pours a golden orange that is intensely bright. Medium, 2 finger head that retains and laces awesome. Moderately hazy.
S- Lots of hop bitterness is right up front as expected. Mostly pine scents with some sweet malt mixed in. Fairly complex for an IIPA, as it is not completely hops on the nose. Sweet flavors remind me a little of honey mostly.
T- Starts with some solid malt backbone then blasts right into the hops. First, a piney hops blast kicks you in the tongue. Then, a slight hint of sweetness creeps in before being crushed by more bitter hops. The drink ends with a harsh, bitter hop profile that is dry and extra bitter.
M- Thick and creamy for a IIPA, but I like it. Medium to low amount of carbonation. Alcohol is fairly well hidden, but the hops themselves will crush your palate, making this one more of a sipper.
Overall, this is a pretty damn solid IIPA. The best part of this beer is that it is an everyday beer (~$10 for a 4-pack) that can kill you with hops.

Pours a slightly hazy orange copper with a dense white head and strong lacing. Highly attractive beer.
Smell is very satisfying for an IPA. Pine upfront, citrus if you're looking for it. Bit of a soapy quality too, but not overly detracting.
Taste falls a bit flatter than the aroma. Sturdy malts upfront followed by a big bitter bite. Loads of pine. Really looking for more distinct hop characteristics from a fresh can like this one though.
Mouthfeel is somewhat watery, but nothing earth-shatteringly sub-par.
Overall a very good beer which I will likely buy again if I see it fresh. Not the greatest readily available DIPA, but a damn fine option.

16oz stovepipe can
A - darker golden color, chunky white foam, leaves lots of lacing.
S - earthy pine, wet hop type smell, dank hops.
T - rich and dense piney dank hops. Resin seems an appropriate name. Oily rich citrus, oranges and grapefruit.
M - good. Medium carbonation, creamy feel
O - this is a good beer, it's just not my cup of tea. The hop profile is just too dank and earthy for me. I prefer a little brighter citrus floral hop.

a great beer, appropriately named. the can looks like an energy drink, and the beer feels supercharged like one as well. pouring a cloudy orangey sticky color with a thick and creamy white head. the nose and taste are identical in this beer. its hops all the way, almost like oil extracts or something, the hops are very intense. some pine, but mostly just bitter from a flavor standpoint. its also quite yeasty, which I think fleshes out the hops in a good way, makes the beer more dynamic. there is a lot of dankness to this, resinous as hell, perfectly named. at first I was down on the can, but now I know it makes this unique beer stand out even more, and its also about the correct dose, much more of this and I would be shitfaced. scarily easy drinking though with a really refreshing creamy feel and plenty of little bubbles making it move. all the sixpoint beers ive had so far have been phenomenal, and this is the best of the bunch for me to date. deserves to be mentioned with some of the big boys of this genre, every bit as good as them all. get some if you can.

Super frothy, creamy head atop the hazy amber hue leaving a permanent cap right to the bottom of the glass. Straightforward piney resin nose: not getting the grapefruit bomb presence mentioned in multiple reviews. Nothing really fruity or tropical in the nose, and very much reminded me of a North-West hop blend despite the West Coast production.
My friend who works the register told me that Resin is big seller, and a popular choice when Heady Topper is not available. Frankly, I see zero resemblance between Resin & Heady, as Heady is a TRUE grapefruit bomb in every sense of the word.
Resin offers a powerfull piney and earthy delivery that packs a hefty alcohol wallop. The aftertaste stays with you awhile, no doubt there. Surprisingly high IBU for the end result flavors which are pleasant and malty.
For the money, a decent pick and worth trying: very good, but nothing that reaches the level of excellence for my tastes. At $8.99 a 4 pack, you can pour this high abv DIPA down your neck for a good buzz if that is your thang.

A - A light, golden, blonde color with intense carbonation and a 2 finger, fluffy, white head. Great appearance. Head slowly dissipates after about 2 minutes and coats the glass with
S - Right when you crack the can open, a rush of earthy hops hit your nose even at a 2 to 3 foot distance. Great smell.
T - The best part is the surprisingly sweet taste on the front of the tongue while leaving a nice, bitter, hoppy aftertaste. Some notes of sweet honey, fruits, and, strangely enough, cinnamon. Excellent taste, and not overly hoppy for an IPA clocking in 103 IBU.
M - Some intense carbonation on the tongue. It feels like a thicker IPA that coats the throat while drinking. The foam even tastes great. A small hint of alcohol, which is surprising for a 9.1% ABV beer.
O - I can't believe the number of times I've walked past this at the store. Definitely a regular purchase from now on. Great taste, mouthfeel, and smell. What more can you ask from an IPA? If you're a fan of IPAs, Resin has to be on your list of Hads - if not All Time Favorites list. Cheers.

BBD of 10 Aug 2013
Pours a slightly chill-hazed honey color with 2+ fingers of pearl colored head. Nice lacing & head retention
S: Breadyness & a hint of pine, plus grapefruit as this warms
T: Big-time pine, grapefruit, hints of pear & toffee up front. Orange peel& grapefruit as this warms, then more pineyness, then a bit of pear, woody hops, caramel & dryness. Finishes with with pink grapefruit, dryness, woody hops, & pineyness
MF: Medium bodied, fairly sticky, great balance & smooth carbonation
A good DIPA that lives up to its name, I thought these cans were pints for some reason, still a decent value & pretty drinkable

This is a big IPA, but lacks the citrus and sweetness in its hops. It drinks thick, finishes bitter, and it has all the qualities I like in any no-nonsense beer. It does leave a little to be desired if it's the only beer you're drinking that evening, but mixes in to a series of beers (if you've devoted the evening to trying various beers). Resin is my go-to beer when something else I've tried doesn't live up to my exceptions.

Poured into a tulip.
Best before 10AUG2013. Sampled 30MAR13.
[A] A slow pour produces a frothy 2 1/2 finger high head, ecru in color, with ridiculously long retention. As it fades, the lacing left behind adorns the glass in web-like fashion. The body is a glowing orange color, just on the cusp of copper. Light haze.
[S] Straight resin. No fruity bullshit. Maybe some pith and rind (of the orange-ish variety) but the fresh, dank, wet wood, piney component is most prominent.
[T] Bitterness is high. But so is the sweetness - so the 103 IBUs are completely manageable. The oily/resiny characteristic of the hops is at the forefront. You can literally taste the stickiness. I love what the hops contributed to the nose; not a big fan of the flavor that they produced.
[M] Carbonation is medium-low. The body is full. Bitterness and sweetness offset each other so the finish is smack dab in the middle of sweet and dry.
[O] I enjoyed this beer and Iwould certainly order it again...but I would probably not purchase it for in home consumption, as I make IPAs that are more aligned with my taste preferences.

The beer pours a murky orange/ light brown color with a nice foamy head that left quite a bit of lacing.
The aroma is rich and sweet with lots ofr mango grapefruit and caramel. Wow, the taste is incredibleright of the bat there is loads of hop flavor with lots of pine oil and citrus, especially lemon, followed by a smooth sweetness. The aftertaste is straight hops. It has a medium-heavy body with low carbonation and a dry finish.
This is one of the best IPA's I've ever had, I am thoroughly impressed and glad that I picked up this 4-pack.

Awesome lacing after poured into a Std Issue Total Wine Belgian Glass...
The smell is just awesome, (for me) Lagunitas always = guava, 6point = mango... we're in the tropics obviously.
It skirts the line between bitter and malty in a really really nice way that I love. It's not "the best x2 IPA ever" but ask me 4 weeks in a row and I'll give you 4 answers...
This one's worth trying and enjoying !!!

12oz can into tulip.
A - Bright clear amber with a massive frothy white head.
S - Grapefruit, mango, pine and a touch of floral hops and caramel.
T - A blast of bitter grapefruit and pine. The hop bite is incredible. Sweet and subtle biscuity malt lends some balance. Hints of mango and tropical fruit. Finishes with earthy pine and toasted grains.
M - Medium body. Moderate-high carbonation, dry finish.
O - Pretty good double IPA. The high IBU's are definitely noticeable, and as a huge hop-head, I really enjoyed this. Insanely drinkable, love the dryness. Fresh and juicy dry-hopped goodness.

The aroma is of malt, bread, and an earthy resin aroma. This beer is called "Resin" for a reason and Sixpoint does a wonderful job.
Having had so many West Coast IPAs, this is a great change. There's a juicy grapefruit note, but then the malt and resin flavors dominate. It has big pine and bite on the mouth, but in a good way. I highly recommend this one.
It's cool that this beer comes in a smaller can like a Red Bull for the appropriate ABV it is.

12 fl oz. tall skinny can, with bottom of can reading "best before August 10, 2013". Poured into a Firestone Walker pint glass.
A - Pours a beautiful burnt sienna orange color with about one finger of doughy white head. Nice scattered lacing.
S - Peaches. Mango. Pineapple. Papaya. Light tropical fruit medley smells coming from the hops. Slight underlying booziness coming through from this beer's intense 9.10% abv.
T - Spicy bitterness packs a punch, as you would expect with a beer coming in at 103 IBU. Little bit of alcohol warmth, but finishes smooth, creamy, and fruity. Lots of intense hop bitterness, but finishes with a light tropical fruit cocktail sort of taste. Could have benefited from more balance with the malts perhaps.
M - Sticky, bitter, and yes, resinous mouthfeel. Smooth and light aftertaste, yet initially this beer is bitter and spicy.
Overall, a heavy-hitting, bitter, and intense imperial IPA from Sixpoint. Two of these tall skinny green cans will satisfy your hop fix and have you feeling pretty good too with a nice 9.10% abv. Probably a little too intense on the hops for my liking, but a decent DIPA, and one I am glad to have tried. Impressed with Sixpoint so far and can't wait to try more.

On tap served in a snifter.
Appearance - Hazy orange with a small white head. It's gone quickly but leaves nice lacing. Thin bit of foam sustains on the surface.
Smell - Sweet smelling more than anything. I hesitate to say that the hop aroma is resiny, but iit's accurate. Grapefruit backs it up. Hefty sweet malt.
Taste - Sweetness still at the forefront. More citrusy here, grapefruit. More of that pine resin flavor behind it, building to a string pine bitterness. Finishes with a heft of both bitterness and sweetness.
Mouthfeel - Medium heavy. Medium heavy sweetness. Very bitter all the same.
Overall - Solid DIPA, but not among my favorites. Nice to see something this good regularly available in Florida though.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a snifter. Pours a orange yellow with a nice fluffy white head that leaves some nice lacing. Smells of floral hops with slight piney and earthy tones, very inviting. Tastes of piney and earthy hops with high malt body and slight soapy feel, probably from the resin. Medium bodied beer has higher carbonation than expected but still finishes very well. Pours a mostly clear, classic golden color with an eggshell colored head that is just the right size. It's a nice looking beer. Smells like a piney pilsner. Doesn't drink like a pilser. Full, oily mouthfeel and pretty obrusive hop explosion. There's quite a bit of alcohol noted in the flavor too. I think it has pretty good balance despite the big hop presence. I like it.

Received in a very nice box today from JxExM.. Thanks a bunch Justin!! Best by July 9th, 2013... I would guess that is pretty damn fresh. Poured into my HotD goblet... 2 finger sorta yellowish head has great retention and lacing... the brew is hop-hazed orange.
Huge piney/grapefruit zest hoppiness is sorta muted by a seemingly IMO too big malt profile... plenty of pale malt and lesser toasty maltiness.
Bejeezus... bitter, but still pretty inviting... again big piney hoppiness with pithy grapefruit.. finish is sorta lingering floral hoppiness... There is still plenty of malt on the palate, but it is in the background and only helps carry the hops... Somehow this never really becomes a palate ripper, instead it is honestly pretty balanced.
Thicker than many DIPA's but a good carbonation asks for another sip.
Thanks again Justin, my tasting group has had these a few times, but I always wanted to give one a proper review.

Picked up this guy after (finally) seeing it on the shelf. Tall 12oz skinny Red Bull-like can, feel alittle self-conscious like I'm not "hip" enough to open it but I proceed and pour into a glass
Appearance- Nice 2 finger white head (slightly rough pour) with good retention and nice lacing on a hazy yellow-orange body...looks very intriguing
Smell- Sweet malts, citrus and a twinge of alcohol at the end, all accompanying an ever-present grass/pine...extremely inviting
Taste- Follows like the nose, strong caramel malt profile, abit of citrus, abit of alcohol but a strong piney bitterness that lingers (little too long for my liking)
Mouthfeel- Think it could benefit from a slightly more sticky sweet body but nevertheless smooth as hell and with alcohol well hidden (too hidden?? I just semi-succesfully tried to stand up after downing a few)
Overall- Very good brew but not great...lacks the balance and/or flavor to put it over the top but at $9.99 for a 4-pack very reasonable and certainly worth a try
