Very nice, tight white lace up the sides of the glass. Held its head pretty tight for a growler. Purchased at Whole Foods- fresh- huge hop aroma. Lots of bite in this one- almost like an IPA, but no citrus like flavors at all. Just hops and rye of course. The rye seems to import and dryness- which is interesting given the hop value here. A very nice, decent brew. Somewhat strong, but backs off a bit to let you really drink it.

A - A very deep copper colored pour, attractive and thick straw colored head. Ample lacing.
S - A bit of sweet malty aroma with a distinctive hop character in the background.
T - Surprisingly, the hop character is more pronounced, in a good way. Still has a rye and malty background (caramel, molasses maybe), but the pine and hop presence is more prominent.
M - More of hoppy feel than a malty feel. Maybe a bit thicker than most hop prominent beers though.
O - Very drinkable for me, and a good beer, but not quite what I'd expect from the style. Still, I enjoyed it.

Pours from the growler a sort of medium brown color. Some bubbles but not much head or lacing to speak of.
Smell is very bready, with some hops (the spicy kind, definitely, more than the fruity kind) in there as well.
This beer tastes like rye bread in liquid form, offset with a moderate hop bitterness. If you're looking for a rye beer that really tastes like rye and isn't just a slight variation on a hop bomb like a DIPA or "Imperial Red" ale, this may just be the beer for you.
The hop bitterness lingers on the tongue a little, but otherwise a very clean feel. Dangerously drinkable at 6.5%

So this ale is a rye ale. Probably the only notable rye ale I have been fortuante enough to gulp...gulp...gulp. Toasty, burnt tips, charred bicuit, deep simmered grain alongside dank weed, (the hops), buttery yeast, sticky residual sugar, fruit hops at front, hella malt on the back end, with clean bitterness, jewish grilled cheese, and bod; he must work out. An N Y staple. A rye, the best one you ever had...the best. Ryetit down, Sixpoint Craft Ale.

A: Mahogany (medium dark brown with a little red coming through) in color, translucent or maybe a little cloudy. The head was the color of oats, 1.5 fingers thick, with big and small bubbles.
S: Obvious toasted nuttiness, toffee, caramel & rye notes.
T: Orange and pineapple hops come through upfront balanced by sweet, nutty maltiness mid palate. Vanilla flavor makes a brief appearance as well.
M: Good mouthfeel. Medium hops and medium body. Additional carbonation was left to be desired.
D: Very interesting and delicous at first, but lost it's charm quickly. I'll have another at some point down the road.

Thanks Bierkraft for the growler fill.
A- Pours a translucent hazelnutty brown with some twinges of orange on the edges. A healthy inch of off white tight bubbled foam that recedes clinging to the edge of the glass like old school shaving cream.
S- An obvious ryeness with some roasted barley and nutty/bready nuances.
T- Starts off with the obvious rye that, like the nose, imparts some roasty nutty flavors that has a creamy character to it.
M- Medium bodied, good carb, with almost a creaminess to it. Finishes drier.
D- I love rye beers- the few I've had I've loved (Alpine Nelson, BR Hot Rod Rye)- in fact I haven't had a bad one...yet. I enjoy this style and I enjoy this beer. Very easy to drink.

This pint glass fills a cloudy, rutty copper with auburn highlights and a solid 1" off white head that is creamy around the edges and rocky in the middle.
Roasted malts with molasses and wheat bread great the nose, while hops are in the background with floral scents. Orange citrus is also present, but the grains definitely take center stage. I almost think there is rye bread here, but the power of suggestion may be the culprit.
The flavor profile is far more restrained than the aroma would lead one to anticipate. However, the malts still dominate, even adding biter nutty flavors up front. The hops seem to be relegated to the lingering finish with a pleasant spiciness.
This is a medium bodied beer with light carbonation and a dry finish. Some metallic notes are present, but not unpleasant, and the alcohol is well hidden.
While not crisp, Righteous Ale will fill the bill after a long hard day. Heck, have a couple with your buddies.

Growler from Whole Foods Bowery, NYC:
A: Nice, deep, hazy brown with a good finger+, off-white head. I'm excited already. Decent lacing, too.
S/T: Great Rye upfront and all the way through. Spicy and bready, with a good subtle-citrus-hop presence and a strong malt backbone.
M: Extremely long finish, nice and full.
D: Gotta love the local brew, especially when they make such a damn good one. It's full, it's complex, it's not too aggressive, it's great.

Growler from Bierkraft in Brooklyn poured into a tulip pint.
A--Strongest category for this brew. Pours up a mellow orangey-amber haze, with two fingers of off white foam that lasts well and laces very well. Inviting.
S--Lots of citric and floral notes from American hops. This isn't a bad thing, but in a rye beer I was expecting some, well, rye in the nose. Some peppery spiciness, SOMEthing from the grain bill I could detect smellwise. If it's there I ain't finding it.
T--Unsurprisingly, more hops all the way through the flavor spectrum. Those citric notes, namely orange, explode first, and are welcome, but they linger in an acrid biting bitterness through the middle of the taste, crowding out the malt in the middle, and the finish is dry, dry, dry, but more from the bitterness of the hops than the rye. There is malt here, don't get me wrong, but the rye isn't highlighted enough for me.
M&D--Mouthfeel is biting and rocky and not really smooth enough to balance out whatever lingering rye comes through. Drinkability is low because I expected a rye beer to match with food and a rainy day, but got a hoppy nearly amber ale (think Troegs Hopback with some peppery notes) instead. Oh well--not bad, just not true to the style.

Thanks to drseamus for the growler love.
A: Nice deep reddish brown color with a finger and a half of white head. Really nice looking lacing.
S: Nice mix of rye and roast. Some chocolate is in there as well. I got more than a hint of B malt. Rye finishes out the nose nicely.
T: Nice mix of chocolate and rye just like the nose. Just a really nice sweetness throughout. Chocolate is there but it finishes with a nice blast of rye.
M: A great smooth mouthfeel especially for a growler. Incredible really.
D: Amazing beer all around. A totally different and incredible beer. Damn six point for not having their products in Albany.

A growler from the new Brouwerij Lane in Brooklyn.
A: Bold red color with a nice white head. Not entirely clear body.
S: Good upfront rye and some nice hops.
T: Solid rye and hops. Nice bitter beer. There is also some chocolate in there. The chocolate presence is a bit surprising with the color but it is there.
M: Medium bodied and perfect.
D: Great. The ABV is low enough to drink a good amount.

Growler from Whole Foods.
A generous inch of insulation foam head even after a barely cracking a taste of it & putting the jug back till now(nearly a week later). Dirty brown runoff color; scummy lacing.
Smell is bready, a little peppery. Tangy acidic hops make out the rest. A little ho-hum.
A little ruff on the tongue. Foam in every sip, awesome. Strong carbonation. A quick hit of sweetness, but dominate tanginess goes blow for blow with lots of bready notes right through. Grapefruit rind closes this one out along a little bread crust.
Not super complex, but with the almost inaudible alcohol, it's scary.

Reviewed on 10/19/08. Growler. Pours a clear dark amber with a thick light tan head. Aroma of grains and light sweet malt. Flavor is spicy initially with grainy, cereal malt, smoke, and rye seeds in the finish. A tinge of bitter hops too. Nice beer!

Pours dark amber with a mahogany hue, and hazy.
A one inch, dense head of beige foam retreated slowly, allowing plenty of clingy ripped sheets of lacework.
Aromatics are filled with citrus fruit and earthy, fresh grains.
Grapefruit, orange zest, and spruce dew lead off, with bready, peppery rye and malt following.
Toasted biscuits with marmalade and grapefruit.
A very creamy mouthfeel with a medium body. Drying and grippy in the finish.
A heavy citrus hand starts the pallet, with fresh, bready malt and rye close behind. Mild pepper notes and a firm, drying bitterness steps up.
Finishes with lingering bitterness, grapefruit pith, and quite dextrinous.
A nice, hoppy rye/pale ale.
Big ups to RblWthACoz for hooking me up!

This one was growlered from a fresh keg while camping. Growler stayed in the cooler and then the fridge whilst home. The keg lasted the weekend and was wonderful.
Pours a lovely rusty amber into my nonic. Had rises over an inch and slowly settles to a skim coat. Aromas are rich and grainy sweet - mostly deep and rich malts with that overall waft of rye.
Hits the palate clean and crisp with the grains coming through a bit. Then kabam - a very dry and bitter hoppiness knocks the malt off its feet and rides through to the finish. Ya know, the kind of rockin dryness and bittering that makes you crave another sip just to take the ride all over again...
The carbonation on this on stays middle of the road and just right for the brew. This one is thinner than I imagined it would be but is just right for quaffing (at 7%??).

Clear dark orange with no head or carbonation. Looks like a Real/cask ale.
The aroma is a seriously grainy strong ale. What a smell! Has some bitter hops underneath, but they are completely overwhelmed by the tidal wave of grainy, unrefined barley. Unique, to say the least. Extreme grassy, earthy smell.
Ok so here goes.... Strong, strong ale flavor, with lots of bitter grainy rye malt. Cross between a barleywine and a strong ale. Hints of sweet caramel/molasses, and a bitter oaky hop. Pure pumpernickel rye. Has notes of bubblegum.
Feels chewy and a bit gritty. Really really thick; sandpaper. Almost layer upon layer of challenges. It's merciless. A unique, brutal beverage. Repeats are simply not an option. It's an onslaught of harsh rye, grain, oak and grass. Quite the hard drink.

The beer pours an amber/red color with a thick frothy offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a light caramel malt scent along with a mild hop aroma and lots of rye. The taste is great. It has a tremendously smooth taste that boasts of rye and light caramel malts. It goes down as easy as any beer I've ever had, and it's 7.2% to boot. It's got a really nice hop content that blends well with the rye. The mouthfeel is great. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a great drinking beer. It's dangerously drinkable at 7.2%. Look out for this one. Recommended!

A- Pours a nice milk chocolate brown color. There's about a finger of foamy head that leaves strong sheets of lacing on the glass. Very impressive looking.
S- The rye really comes out in the smell, being uninhibited by hops. There's a great spice to it- like cardamom, white pepper, and hits on cinnimon. A small amount of pale white bread maltiness is also present in the nose.
T- The taste is very complex. The spiciness is even bigger here, along with the cardamom and cinnimon, I sense hints of chile and anise. The sides of my mouth bear the brunt of a delicious bitter hop flavor that is on the very pithy end of grapefruit. As the taste subdues, I can pick out a nice breadiness that reminds me of an octoberfest beer.
M- Perfect lingering bitterness for my taste.
D- This is a suberb beer and was way over my expectations. To go with the Sixpoint IPA I had last week I'm really looking forward to trying more of their beers and I hope they are all as delicious as this one.

Brown and red hued liquid with an off white creamy head. Nose is all malt and rye. Nice balance of roasted malt and rye. Nice sweetness to it. Also a bit of smoke and spice. A simple yet tasty brew that shows how good rye can be. Overall a very delicious and enjoyable beer. Recommended.

I enjoy this one alot. It has nice dry taste which goes down real smooth. I can make this one of my regular brews to have in the fridge. It also seems to stay pretty will in the fridge without spoiling. I had a case of 24 back in December. I have a few cans left and they still taste as fresh.

A - dark, caramel amber with a thin, quarter of an inch off-white, brownish head that settles after a few seconds
S - big citrus, caramel, faint rye
T - caramel, faint nuttiness, big citrus, faint sugary sweetness, rye, dark bread, very faint toffee, a clean slight bitter finish
M - medium bodied, crisp, well carbonated
This is a rather interesting beer. It has a very complex flavor profile and is far hoppier than I was expecting. I am pleasantly surprised and impressed with this beer. I could definitely put a few cans of this away. If I can get my hands on it, I'll definitely get more.

I think my favorite tfrom sixpoint to date. This beer was firing on all cylinders from the appearance to it's drinkability.
A deep copper amber with a tall head floating on top. The head is dense but then loosens in structure during it's fading.
The aroma sports plenty of rye malt spiciness with some bready malts too. Hops are fresh and have a pine resin bouquet though it's more sutle and restraint.
Taste was good and with a good depth of flavor. A fairly hoppy brew tasting of pine and earth plus a balanced rye bill which lends a balancing spiciness. Plenty of caramel and bready malts smooths everything out to make a wonderfully refreshing beer. A slightly bitter aftertaste in an otherwise smooth drinking beer.
There really is nothing not to like in this beer.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – The beer is served a brown colored brew with a one finger off white head. The head fades relatively quickly to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a bready nature with tons of rye and a wheat smell. Mixed with these more malty aromas is a good sweet caramel smell as well as a moderate presence of some citrus an earthy hop smells.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice rye flavor which creates a base for the other flavors of the brew. Mixed with the rye upfront, there is a rather nice mix of hop flavors- some earthy, grapefruit citrus, and herbal tastes. The flavor sweetens ever so slightly with a caramel flavor coming to the tongue at the middle of the taste. This fades more toward the end where more bitter citrus hop of grapefruit, some lemongrass, and grassy flavors become even more pronounced. The hop never becomes too potent but provides a nice balance to the rye malt flavors of the brew to, in the end, leave a pleasant lightly hopped rye flavor on the tongue..
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is average to just above average. Both make for a rather crisp feel on the tongue and are rather nice for the mix of hop and rye that are present in the brew.
Overall – This is a great, rather rye potent brew, with a nice hop profile and balance for the more malty and rye flavors of the brew. Quite tasty and a good drinker.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a nice deep dark red with a very nice fluffy slight off white head. Smells of grassy notes dominately with slight floral notes very nice. Tastes of earthy notes with grassy bits and bite with citrusy notes. Beer is light medium bodied and carbonation is good, finishes nicely. Overall, a very good beer.
