Brown and red hued liquid with an off white creamy head. Nose is all malt and rye. Nice balance of roasted malt and rye. Nice sweetness to it. Also a bit of smoke and spice. A simple yet tasty brew that shows how good rye can be. Overall a very delicious and enjoyable beer. Recommended.

I enjoy this one alot. It has nice dry taste which goes down real smooth. I can make this one of my regular brews to have in the fridge. It also seems to stay pretty will in the fridge without spoiling. I had a case of 24 back in December. I have a few cans left and they still taste as fresh.

A - dark, caramel amber with a thin, quarter of an inch off-white, brownish head that settles after a few seconds

S - big citrus, caramel, faint rye

T - caramel, faint nuttiness, big citrus, faint sugary sweetness, rye, dark bread, very faint toffee, a clean slight bitter finish

M - medium bodied, crisp, well carbonated

This is a rather interesting beer. It has a very complex flavor profile and is far hoppier than I was expecting. I am pleasantly surprised and impressed with this beer. I could definitely put a few cans of this away. If I can get my hands on it, I'll definitely get more.

I think my favorite tfrom sixpoint to date. This beer was firing on all cylinders from the appearance to it's drinkability.
A deep copper amber with a tall head floating on top. The head is dense but then loosens in structure during it's fading.
The aroma sports plenty of rye malt spiciness with some bready malts too. Hops are fresh and have a pine resin bouquet though it's more sutle and restraint.
Taste was good and with a good depth of flavor. A fairly hoppy brew tasting of pine and earth plus a balanced rye bill which lends a balancing spiciness. Plenty of caramel and bready malts smooths everything out to make a wonderfully refreshing beer. A slightly bitter aftertaste in an otherwise smooth drinking beer.
There really is nothing not to like in this beer.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass

Appearance – The beer is served a brown colored brew with a one finger off white head. The head fades relatively quickly to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a bready nature with tons of rye and a wheat smell. Mixed with these more malty aromas is a good sweet caramel smell as well as a moderate presence of some citrus an earthy hop smells.

Taste – The taste begins with a nice rye flavor which creates a base for the other flavors of the brew. Mixed with the rye upfront, there is a rather nice mix of hop flavors- some earthy, grapefruit citrus, and herbal tastes. The flavor sweetens ever so slightly with a caramel flavor coming to the tongue at the middle of the taste. This fades more toward the end where more bitter citrus hop of grapefruit, some lemongrass, and grassy flavors become even more pronounced. The hop never becomes too potent but provides a nice balance to the rye malt flavors of the brew to, in the end, leave a pleasant lightly hopped rye flavor on the tongue..

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is average to just above average. Both make for a rather crisp feel on the tongue and are rather nice for the mix of hop and rye that are present in the brew.

Overall – This is a great, rather rye potent brew, with a nice hop profile and balance for the more malty and rye flavors of the brew. Quite tasty and a good drinker.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a nice deep dark red with a very nice fluffy slight off white head. Smells of grassy notes dominately with slight floral notes very nice. Tastes of earthy notes with grassy bits and bite with citrusy notes. Beer is light medium bodied and carbonation is good, finishes nicely. Overall, a very good beer.

Poured into a pint glass.

A massive chunky head sits atop a deep brown colored brew.

Smells of rye grain and earthy hops.

Can taste the rye up front with a nice healthy dose of earthy hop bitters. A faint burnt caramel malt ties everything together. Can also pick up on a faint nuttiness. A very satisfying brew.

Chewy, thick and sticks around for a while - coating the tongue.

One of the best - if not the best rye beers I've had.

I've had a couple of brews from Sixpoint and I can say the folks over at Sixpoint know what they're doing. If you like a rye beer, then do yourself a favor and look for this. You absolutely will not be disappointed. Great session brew.

Poured into a pint glass. Bottom of can says best before 27APR2013.

A- Pours a reddish light brown color with a full three fingers worth of tan head due to a heavy pour. Retention is good and long displaying nice craggy bumps in the foam. Eventually it works its way down to an 1/8 inch bumpy head. Lacing is slippery and minimal.

S- Very sweet cereal grain sweetness from the malt meets spicy, pungent notes from the rye. Mild but fresh hop aroma.

T- More hoppy in the flavor and is somewhat metallic in its bitterness but works with the rye malt well. More of that cereal grain sweetness but it's a bit muted by the strength of the rye and hops. Smooth all the same with little alcohol taste detected.

M- Semi-watery with the malt body being the only thing giving it any viscosity. Medium carbonation.

O- Very drinkable and enjoyable. I gotta have my rye!

16 oz. Tallboy. Freshness date on bottom.

A: Pours a medium to deep amber with a bubble filled off white head.
Turns thin but retains this for the long run. Watery lacing.

S: Creamy and sour, herbal hops, spicy with some bready notes. The rye
is noticeable.

T/M: Spicy and sour with a moderate amount of dry hops. Fruits, chewy
malts, spices, hops, and sour again. Smooth and a little tangy. The finish
is somewhat sour.

Overall: I am not that familiar with the Rye Ales. But from what I have read,
this Righteous Ale seems to taste like the descriptions of the style. So for
me the great drinkablilty and interesting taste (not too Sour) makes for a
good beer.

Very good beer. Nice aroma from the hops, and the hops predominate at first. As the beer warms, the sweetness of the rye develops. Clean and crisp throughout. A very drinkable beer for all seasons and most occasions.i have not had a beer from six point that I have not liked.

Poured a clearish aubunr red brown with a good head and lace on top of a very malty aroma of bread, barley, rye, some caramel malt, as well as a smidge of citric hops. Medium-bodied with great balance, the rye makes this beer slick and easy to drink. The hop flavors are minimal but they get the job done and there is some sweetness from the caramel as well. Mostly though, a robust and sturdy beer that the malts make it a tasty, crisp beer with good finish.

Dark amber brown color, a bit hazy. Nice off-white thick head with very good retention.
Aroma of cereals, highlighting Rye and floral hops. A touch of citrus.
Rye is even more present in its taste that right followed by a resiny, bit citric (towards oranges not lemon) and floral hop flavor.
Very Bitter aftertaste (nice!), with hints of earl grey tea.
Light to medium body with low natural carbonation.
Good beer. I found it quite interesting, again so far always a good brew from Sixpoint (though I prefer the other core over this one as a regular beer).

Pours a dark, deep brown with a solid finger of beige head of big bubbles that's not going anywhere. A really beautiful beer straight out of the glass.

Up front on the nose are some grassy hops. There are some strong malt characteristics and the spiciness that I come to expect from a rye beer.

The taste is very woody. There's a roasted characteristic that isn't all that well rounded like it is in a stout but it still lets you know that it's there. The beer finishes with big spiciness from the rye and a piney, almost fruity hop finish.

Very full bodied with good carbonation. Pretty darn creamy.

Overall, pretty tasty. The rye isn't highlighted quite as much as I was expecting. This beer, to me, is almost more of an IPA, which is fine in my book.

For some damn reason, every time I see the word "righteous", even with regard to moral/religious accomplishments, my mind immediately goes to something dumb like "Surf Ninjas"... In any case, this stuff pours a clear garnet topped by a finger of khaki foam. The nose comprises lightly-toasted rye bread, light mint, light pine needles, and a tiny touch of mild cocoa. The taste brings in more of the same, with the emphasis placed squarely on the rye (unsurprising here). The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a lightly creamy feel. Overall, a nice little rye beer, one that maintains a healthy hoppiness without allowing the hops to overcome all else. Not bad.

Half of a chilled 16 oz can into a stemless tulip pint. Best-by date reads 4.27.13.

Look- Clear amber-brown with a hint of red. Three fingers of sticky buttermilk-colored head, good retention, ok lacing.

Smell- Bold Lemon-lime, herbal, spicy. Brings to mind bruised orange blossoms. Almost a sour aroma. As it warms it takes on a warmer aroma along the lines of tootsie rolls. Swirling brings out more of the almost-sour fruity character, I don't know quite what to make of it, but that's fairly typical for Sixpoint.

Taste- Similar to the nose- starts and finishes with a wash of herbal bittering laced with underripe tangerine. Moderate nutty malt presence, gives me an impression of lime-laced flat cola. Significant rye spice, particularly on the swallow. Aftertaste is tealike, vague sweetness comes out at the end. Moderately bitter.

Mouthfeel- Medium carbonation, soft feel, smooth. Medium body. Cottony finish, something of an astringent feel. One can's enough for me.

Overall- Interesting, never had anything quite like it, rye beer or otherwise. A gotlandsdricka I had a while back would be the closest to the slightly spicy, slightly herbal, mellow-with-a-sharp edge feel. Worth trying, but I wouldn't pick it out over Bengali Tiger.

Dark caramel brown in color with decent clarity.Poured with a tall dense foam that reduced to a soapy cap that left sticky lacings on the glass. Earthy rye malt and citrus hops aromas compete for dominance, but there is no clear winner here. Medium bodied with assertive carbonation. Rye and toasted malt flavors up front followed by citrus hop bitterness. Finishes with a fading citrus hop aftertaste and lasting rye malt presence. Probably my favorite Six Point offering. There's just not enough rye ales out there.

Smell: I could smell some rye, some citrus notes. Good smell, not overpowering.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth, medium bodied. Taste was very nutty, which I did not expect with the citrus notes that could be smelled.

Overall: Great beer, although it is not my personal first choice.

A-dark cloudy amber with a nice stable cream colored head

S-faint scent of a creamy citrus scent with a hint of rye and herbal scent.

T-comes in with an awesome toasted flavor of rye and some nutty spices. The rye is quite evident. It has somewhat of an aged aspect to it. It's somewhat of a complex beer, with an awesome matching after-taste.

M-medium creamy carbonation with a nice crisp finish

O-a different type if rye beer. Has all the qualities of a past due pale ale yet with an extreme complexity unseen in most rye ales. Quite drinkable and tasty.

ST: One pint poured into a pint glass.

A: Dark brown with a thin, off white head. The beer leaves spotty lacing.

S: Strong malt, nutty, sour, spicey.

T: Malty, nutty flavor quickly transfers to spicy and sour. A bitterness joins the spice in a finish that lingers for a long time.

M: Medium

O: Creamy, spicy, sour, malty, all of these descriptions work at different times when drinking this beer. The finish has a real bitter edge. The rye is pronounced, lending a woody quality. Rough, but enjoyable.

A: 1 finger of light tan head with great retention. Slightly hazy dark reddish-brown. nice head.
S: Not much at first. Caramel and slight citrus hop. More hops pls. Slightly nutty.
T: Bitter start with an intense peaty-earthy-malty middle and mixed finish. Slightly grapefruity bitterness. Malt has grown as I've held this for the past 2 months. Or should I say that the hops have receded. I preferred it fresher and hoppier. A tad vegetal. Good amount of rye.
M: Smooth and nicely bitter with a dry finish.
O: Enjoyable. I'm glad I bought 4 of these. I love the tallboys. i would order another.

Tallboy poured into a snifter

A- Pours hazy, almost murky brown with a one finger light brown/off white head.

S- Not much one the nose, a slight base malt, there is a lightly hopped citrus profile, definitely rye and herbal grass notes.

T- The nose doesn't do this beer justice. It's slightly bitter up front, follows up with a perfect balance of herbal, earthy rye notes with the citrus and bitterness from the hops. The hops are all citrus, some mango and lemon grass. There is a lot of rye in this beer and its still very clean and balanced.

M- This beer is crisp and clean and has a moderate mouth feel. Modest carbonation.

O- This is a nice rye brew. Drink out of the can because the look and nose of this beer aren't its highlights.

This was the first beer I had from Sixpoint. They just started distributing that week about 18 months ago, and I was pretty impressed then.

I poured this beer from the can into a wide tulip shaped glass. I got quite a bit of sticky foam from the pour which led to some really good lacing on the glass. The coloring is dark brown.

I smell some citrus hops, tobacco, and malt from the top. It is an interesting mix; as Sixpoint does not fall exactly into any one beer category.

The flavoring is very well balanced with minimal bitterness in the aftertaste. I get a bunch of that rye flavor and less of the hops in each sip.

This is a very good beer. It is not exactly a rye... it stands on its own.

Poured out of a can into a Sam Adams glass

A- deep brown w ruby red highlights. Nice lacing on an off white head

S- a really nice earthy spice and rich caramel malt some hop notes

T- nice bitter up front w a sweet raisney finish tailed w a lingering bitter and spicey aftertaste very tastey

M- smooth a little chew and great carb

O- exactly what I'm looking for in a Rye.

Pours a mahogany color, fairly dense with enough light getting through to provide reddish highlights. Medium size light tan head with good retention. Patchy lacing.

Aroma is fairly mild, sweet malt/caramel malt.

Tastes good. The sour rye is predominant until the beer warms up. As the beer warms, the rye tames down to a slight bitterness and the sweet malts come to the forefront. Overall the taste is very inviting and the alcohol level appears lower than what is on the can.

Mouthfeel is fairly rich. The maltiness and bitter rye add to the overall feel.

This is a solid beer, tastes good, Goes well with food or just for slow sipping.
