Poured from a 16 oz can into a tulip. Purchased in Wakefield, RI.

A- Pours a crystal clear amber body with a super thick, fluffy white head that reduces to some uneven chunks of white foam.

S- Grapefruit, pine, bread, citrus zest.

T- Upfront I get citrus and caramel. It ends piney and leaves a hoppy bitterness on the tongue.

M- Medium-low carbonation, medium body.

Overall a decent IPA. Definitely has good balance. I've had better and I've had worse. This is one is worth a try but I won't be seeking it out again.

I tried this on tap at Cooper's bar on Belmont in Chicago. Nice 7 page beer menu. I selected this one from the page that read "What's new on tap?" Served to me in a pint glass for $5.

The beer poured a mostly clear orange/copper color with a 2-finger off- white head with dcent retention. The beer left toms of lacing on the glass.

Big citrus and piny hop aroma. Mostly grapefruit with some apricot in the background.

Big pine and grapefruit flavor with apricot coming out as it warms a bit. Bready malt used for balance. 62 IBU's gives you an idea of the strength of the bitterness.

Medium bodied and creamy smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is medium.

This is a very tasty beer, especially if you like grapefruit flavored hops. I'll be anxious to see if it tastes the same in bottles and cans if I can find it.

A- Transparent orange body with a frothy off-white head that leaves a lot of lacing.

S- Sweet toasted malt and piney malts with a lot of citrus.

T- Juicy hops with a nice toasted malt backbone. Some tropical flavors come through in the way of grapefruit and pineapple.

M- Medium bodied, medium carbonation, creamy.

O- Solid IPA, balanced and drinkable.

A: Pours a hazy amber with a creamy, lingering white head. Little chunks of yeast are noticeable in the glass once the beer settles.

S: Aromas of caramel, toffee, cream, lime, lemon, bitter orange, and kumquat fill the nose.

T: Notes of lime, lemon, bitter orange, kumquat, grass, black pepper, and herbs are underscored by delicate notes of caramel, toffee, and cream. The finish is delicate and quenching with balanced notes of caramel, cream, and citrus.

M: Medium in body, smooth, gentle, and creamy. Not nearly as dry as many other American IPAs. Carbonation is fine and unobtrusive. Very easy to drink.

O: This is an excellent and unique American IPA. It does not really have the grapefruit, pine and spruce notes that have come to represent the style, instead emphasizing caramel malt sweetness and delicate lemon-lime bitterness. Definitely try this if you have grown bored with many other APAs and IPAs.

Amber hazy color. Poured a good amount of head with a long retention leaving marks in the glass.
Right after you open the can, a delicious fruity aroma with citrus swirls in the air. After tasting it, it is hard to get further scents out of it.
Some malt sweetness, but predominant a bitter and hoppy taste, hints of pine, bread, decent amount of grapefruit, and notes of citric and grass.
Long lasting bitter aftertaste.
Light to medium body with good carbonation and small bubbles.
Good IPA option for the hophead nation, not as tough as Resin, but still a good punch.

Poured from a can, into a small little glass.

A - Nice orangey colour on this one, this a little less than a finger of white head

S - mostly pine but a little bit of sweetness

T - Very little on the hop side of things, much maltier than I expected

M - really light and easy drinking which made this slightly better

O - randomly stumbled into this at a restaurant in Toronto, not sure how they obtained it. Glad I tried it, but highly underwhelming, despite it's easy drinkability.

Aromas of pine and a bit-o-pepper.

Tastes of mild hop, pine and some trace malt.

Mouthfeel for me is mildly bitter on the back end and yet clean.

Not pretentious or complex. Just a well crafted IPA. This brew is quite quenching and would pair well with food. I will keep this in my rotation.

Pours a hazy orange marmalade color with some yeast sediment settling to the bottom of the glass. There is a solid two fingers of offwhite head that doesn't budge. I'm expecting fantastic lacing.

The head is so thick that I don't get much smell coming out of the beer! What I do pick up on is a pretty spicy, herbally hop nose and a caramel, bready backbone.

The taste follows the nose in many senses. The first thing I pick up on the is the citrusy characteristics of the hops. I get orange more than anything. As the hops fade out, I get a bit of an apricot or peach flavor as it heads into a bready finish.

A relatively medium bodied beer with quite a bit of carbonation. I could almost go for a little less C02.

Overall, a pretty decent IPA. My can wasn't the definition of fresh so I'd like to try it a bit fresher next time. The spicy, citrusy hops were nice and the malt backbone balanced it out well.

Pours orange amber into pint glass. Nice white head that lingers well.

Smell is heavy grapefruit and pine. There is also a belgian yeast character to the aroma.

Taste follows smell well with lots of grapefruit notes, lemon, and bready malt. Caramel comes through as well. Nice bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation.

Overall very nice brew. Belgian character is different and interesting.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass

Appearance – Served a copper-orange color with one finger off white head. The head has a decent level of retention, eventually fading to a persistent film on the top of the brew and a moderate level of lacing.

Smell – The aroma is rather interesting. It has a good strong grapefruit aroma mixed with a bready smell. Along with these are strong floral and pine hop aromas as well as some lighter cinnamon and other spice smells.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready malt flavor and some fruit flavors of a citrus nature mixed with some tropical fruit. The citrus is a mix of grapefruit hop as well as an orange sweet taste. As the taste advances, some spice flavors enter the tongue. Neither the hop nor the spice are ever too heavy, but instead blend quite well with some of the bready flavors that are upfront. In the end, some pine hop flavors come to the tongue and with the flavors that preceded it, leave a smooth hopped and spiced flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is medium to above medium side in terms of thickness with a carbonation level that is below average. The creamier body of the brew coupled with the lighter carbonation create a smooth feel and complement the hop, spice, and malt flavors of the brew nicely.

Overall – A rather enjoyable IPA. It had had a nice blend between sweet, hop, malt and spice. One to try if you get a chance.

On tap at Kickbacks in Jax. Poured into a snifter. Off-white head, good retention, soapy lacing, sticky. Slightly hazy, golden body. Aroma is dominated by lovely citrus hops with a touch of grass. Taste is very lupulin. Not complaining. Grapefruit and grass come to mind with lemon peel also. Very satisfying and delicious.

16oz can, best by February 17, 2013. Served at around 40-45F.

Pours hazy copper with a two finger white head that leaves clumpy drippy webs of lacing.

Unique aroma features pine, peach/apricot, mango, spice, banana, caramel and bread, estery, wheat like, interesting as it comes across as a wheat IPA or Belgian IPA, but I don’t think that’s what they were going for. Very good strength in the aroma.

Flavor follows suit, pine, apricot, spice, fruity, rather malty with a strong caramel backbone, bready, some alcohol, mild sweetness, decent bitterness.

Mouthfeel is medium-plus bodied, sticky, good carbonation.

Interesting IPA. Give it credit for being unique, although far from my favorite in the style.

Beer is a slightly gauzy copper color. A nice beige head. Aroma is piney/hoppy. Taste has a bit of malt up front, but finishes big and bitter. Very dry. Hoppy with pine and a bitter citrus punch. Mouthfeel is good. Overall, a very nice, very bitter IPA. It strikes me as a good middle ground between a lighter session IPA and a big boozier imperial IPA that is so intense/heavy it is almost like a meal.

16oz can, best before 17 Feb 2013.

A: Somewhat cloudy golden hued with an ample, frothy white head. Turns chunky after a while.

S: A faint smell of grapefruit rind upon a deep inhale. Not much more.

T: Tastes off, bitter with no sweetness on the tongue and no semblance of balance on the palate. Neither an IPA on the malty side like Celebration, balanced like Blind Pig or a hop assault like Racer 5. Hard to call it too hoppy, too bitter or anything...simply off.

M: Nothing redeeming about the flavors that coat the taste buds or the aftertaste.

O: This version of Bengali Tiger, the only one I've had, is a distinctly below average beer, ale and IPA. I was in Brooklyn in July of this year and enjoyed some Sweet Action, both canned and on draft. A recent move from California to Texas has its ups and downs beer wise, but I was psyched to see Sixpoint arrive around the same time. Sweet Action tasted fine and Resin was even better, but this? A near drain-pour for this last of the cans in the four-pack.

Picked up a can from Wegman's. I had good hopes for this as after trying other Six Point brews were decent brews but this one let me down. I taste nothing but bittering hops from this. Smell is nothing to write home about. Mouthfeel is just bitter to the tongue with dry aftertaste. Sorry, I'll pass on another, maybe on tap will take another chance at it.

Reviewed from admittedly sparse notes from 7/20/12

Poured into 20oz pint glass.
Large foamy head that hangs around and leaves beautiful lacing.
Piney nose is matched in the flavor, but accompanied by citrusy hops as well.
Good balance between malts and hops.

I've been interested in trying this for awhile and picked up a 4 pack ($8.99 Total Wine). This is my first beer from Sixpoint.

A - Nice looking medium brown color when poured into a tulip

S - There is element of hops in the smell but I'm also catching a fair amount of yeast which isn't what I want to smell in an IPA

T - Dry with some hops. Lots of malt and a heavy yeast flavor.

M - Carbonation feels about right. No complaints.

Having not had this beer before I'm wondering if I got a bad batch based on the other reviews. The DBD is still over 3 months out so it's not excessively old or anything. I caught way too much yeast in this beer for my liking. Hopefully I can try this on tap somewhere along the way to confirm the bad batch theory. If what I got was what Sixpoint is trying for then I'll save this one for other patrons.

A solid AIPA, in a tall boy can, no less. Pour was a deep amber with an agressive, tight head. More malt presence than average for the style, but no so much as to detract from the hops-centric nature of the beer. Hops were resinous with some bite up front, herbal and sharp. Malt almost stepped in too much in the middle, but reigned back and the hops carried through. Some sweetness rises toward the end with the malt.

Just a nice easy pour and a just a nice easy drink.
Light golden pour with a nice head. Hoppy nose but not that strong. It was full flavlored with a good amount of malt coming through.

Best thing I can say really is that it is such a easy and good drinking beer. Something I would do over and over

Wow! This is a fantastic, very drinkable IPA. I love this, and will make sure I always have some on hand.

Great grapefruit nose that I can smell from a foot away.

The taste matches the smell. Pretty citrusy hop forward with a pretty subtle malt backbone. Very little sweetness or taste of alcohol.

If you're a hophead interested in a session IPA, give it a try. Very impressive. I could drink this all night long.

Easily pours three fingers of loosely knit orange cream colored foam, turns lacy and dimpled as it dissolves, very delicate, only a few random splotches for lacing. The liquid is a base orange bronze color of light haziness, more yellow than brown or red for secondary tint, close to no visible bubbles, what is there is miniscule. The nose is straight down the middle classic IPA featuring grapefruit, tangerine citrus, pine sap, flowers, baguette to biscuit breadiness, slightly more pepper bite than chocolate softness, the fruit scents range from peach and apricot to mango and pineapple, overall pulls back from punching too hard. Medium-bodied with a softish style carbonation, this helps it sink in and cling as it also tends to the drier end of the spectrum, becoming more bitter near the finish as well, before that has a certain oiliness to it. Metallic earthiness with more tart zest in the white grapefruit to mandarin orange citrus, here clove and cumin spice take precedence over any bread, yeast or florality. The pine element fights hard for space, though. While tropical per se, the lack of juiciness in the papaya, mango, pineapple, nectarine fruit flavors has the fruit downplayed across the board. Nicely balanced and not trying to make some bold statement, content to humbly stay within the parameters of the category. If you like drier beers, even close to sessionable.

Poured from a growler into a snifter.

Appearance: orange-amber color with a thin white head. Decent lacing throughout the glass.

Smell: strong floral hops scent. Very enjoyable.

Taste: a bit malty. Slightly hoppy. Relatively dull.

Mouthfeel: needs more carbonation. Could be the pour, but I don’t think it’s a problem with the growler, I just got it a few hours ago.

Overall: not a bad IPA. I am hoping the remainder of the growler isn’t so flat and I just messed up my pour somehow.

16oz. can poured into a tulip.

(A)- Pours a hazy orange color. Produced a nice cap of white froth. Good retention and lacing too.

(S)- A nice smooth biscuit, yeast, and lemon. Subtle bits of orange peel and pine.

(T)- The bitter pine is much more pronounced than from the smell. Good citrus and subtle yeasty biscuit.

(M)- A good carbonation level and balance. Heavy bitter pine with a subtler citrus.

(O)- A solid IPA. A touch heavy in the bitterness for my liking, but still very enjoyable.

A decent IPA. Sold to me by the shop owner.

Well name sounds very Indian but it is from newyork somewhere.

Pours with a very huge head not so typical of extremely good IPAs despite my pouring with a lot of care as usual.

Carbonation is very typical.

A lot of suspended matter, mat be because i was having it after its date of 'best use'. Not good for an IPA - i like them fresh. Well i don't mind - may be it could have tasted better.

I like its bitterness which is an after taste. More mixed mouth feel. However not very well balanced.

Not at all oily.

Smells a decent amount of hops and some citrus.

Overall a good, above average drink. Not much alcohol though. I like it though nothing differentiates it from a lot of other IPAs.

16oz can into a Delirium Tremens tulip.

Bengali Tiger, like most of Sixpoint's lineup, is an exercise in balance executed to perfection. The pour produces a towering head of manila foam that slowly recedes to a fat patch of bubbles and ring of foam that coats the insides of the tulip with spackles of lace. Body is an attractive, clear copper hue and carbonated. Nose boasts a sweet, juicy hop aroma that's both floral and tropical at the same time. Pineapple, mangoes, and pear balance nicely against a clean malt backdrop of light caramel sweetness and toasted grain.

The flavor foregoes tropical/floral hops notes for a sizable piney bitterness. Still, the balance on this ale is worthy of merit, as bready malts add a hefty backbone. Finish has some lingering hoppiness with a bit of mineral flavor that might hint at staleness to some. The mouthfeel is medium in body with a perfect carbonation level, but falls a bit flat on the back end. Still, this is a clean, balanced, drinkable ale (note: I avoid calling it an 'IPA' since Sixpoint doesn't technically classify their beers within styles). Good stuff.
