Pours a hazy amber with solid head. Initial smell is pine then citrus and some caramel malt.

Taste is on the lighter side in that the malt is not in the forefront, and neither is the hop frankly. I tossed the box with the date so I'm hoping this isn't as fresh.

Nice bitter finish with a slight tea like tannin I typically detect in a red ale.

(Served in a Nonic)
A- This beer pours a slightly hazy orange body with a sea of slow microbubbles supporting a thin creamy beige head that last a good bit and sticks to the glass.

S- The grainy pils malt note leads to a woody dark hops nose that blends with dried leaves a fresh pungent hop pellet finish.

T- The pale malt taste is overcome by a spicy slightly dark herbal hop flavor that leads to a dry finish. There is a green hop bite in the aftertaste that takes on a dandelion green bitterness.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a spicy little fizz with no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The nice malt flavor is fresh with good dark green hops but the bitterness that stains the finish is too overpowering.

Bengali Tiger is a tasty, east-meets-west sort of IPA. The big, up front, bright and oily citrus hops of a West Coast IPA are paired with the back-end balanced piney hoppiness of an East Coast IPA. The aroma is a little muddled, but otherwise this is a great IPA. Since the aroma's the beer's weakest part, it's actually better straight from the can.

Pours orange amber with a little haze. A tall head of soft creamy foam that fell slowly to some crags and splotchy lace that really does settle into rings around the glass just like the stripes of a tiger. Just peachy to look at. Nose is finding me and it’s bountiful and floral. Plenty of pine, resin, grapefruit, tangerine and good bread from a rich malt spine. Gotta admit that this is one of the best noses on an IPA. Malt opens up as it warms with caramel and some apricot from the hops. I happen to love malt and for an IPA this one starts out with a big taste of biscuit , the hops are light and bitter over top of that. Some citrus rind and a little sour bite from the grapefruit, then pine, a little nutty flavor and some delicate hop oil takes you into a dry finish. Aftertaste is sweet with perfumey hops, malt, the apricot, honey and bread. Clean and crisp with a lasting bitter that never outdoes the underlying sweetness. Engaging and spirited.
