I actually like the new version of Schlitz better that is it is now being brewed in LaCrosse, WI. It is a new formula and is a little more watery and the hops are not as pungent as the Milwaukee brewed 60's formula. It is smoother and goes down better. The Milwaukee brewed version was kind of overloaded with hops and it seemed like u were exhaling Schlitz 2 hours after the last gulp! This version is awesome and what a beer should be. Still stronger hops and malt more than any other domestic AAL beer like Budweiser that basically is just canoe beer and tastes 1 or 2 steps up from water! Definitely give the new formula a try! Better than any other American domestic beer no question. Bud and Coors can't hold a candle to it. Can't wait to grill out this summer coming up and having Gusto Power by my side! Go For It!!!!!

this is the current version, apparently as different from the original formula that was reintroduced at some point. i had this on at at the old pabst brewery in milwaukee, which hasnt produced beer in ages but still has a great tour and a cool bar, kind of neat to have it next to a pabst, which is way lighter and sort of more benign. this might seem like light lager without that context, but with it, its kind of heavy, meaty even, metallic and cheaper, way more adjunct forward to my, a lot more body, some residual sugar too extending the worst elements of this, and even though it has more flavor than a pabst, im not sure thats a good thing. it seems also a little more robust than the other schlitz i remember. a slightly richer color than the pabst, not much head, but lots of carbonation, huge bubbles like a soda, and the mouthfeel ends up being one of its better features. the nose and taste are cheap and metallic, weighty and with some mineral character, faint honey, corn, and brass, weird, slight lager yeast presence too, and it stays on my palate awhile. this is a relic, a cheapy, and not something i need to drink again, but it also stands apart from the crowd of budget yellow beers, like i could pick this out of a lineup pretty easily, for better or worse. even the nostalgic value of having this at the old brewery couldnt save it for me. still, there are worse...

I’ve Been without Schlitz beer for too many years. I started researching to locate if available. Finally directed to Pabst and they provided me with locations in Louisiana with full details. Thanks. Today I purchased a case and wow, thanks again Pabst. My wall mounted dispenser for keg of Schlitz in outside refrigerator unit served me well for many years. Now back in cans at home. Big change is teen boys and their friends will not steal these from me!

Definitely a solid offering in the AAL category. Lucked up on some while making a beer run a a beverage center I've never stopped in. Tried some, and enjoyed it. Is it the best? No. It does babe more flavor than other AAL options. If it's around, definitely try it

Graded against the style. When compared to the Big Three and Modelo/Carona, this one just flat out has more flavor. What a shame it isnt seen on more shelves. Never change Schlitz

What beer used to taste like before miller lite got introduced. Just explodes in your mouth as it should. It definitely has gusto. Good with a burger or by itself. Hard to find in Minnesota. I live in Saint Paul and I only know of one place that carries it. Cheers.

A surprisingly good meal beer. I really like this beer with a burger has full body feel taste and some have complained about the almost stick to your mouth lingering mouth feel but I must say I enjoy it. It is not a chug beer more of a sip. If we are rating based on domestic regular premium beers the 68 is totally not realistic. For the basic domestic category for beer I would personally rate this a solid B 80 just a good basic beer.

Whenever I see a twelve pack of cans, I pick some up. The perfect adjunct lager. Clean, crisp, refreshing, with a bite going down your throat. I'll have another please.

A good 'ol fashioned American brew. It will probably not satisfy the microbrew/import crowd, but it's a near- perfect mass-appeal beer, bringing back their old formula (before they cheapened out and went out of business). Light years beyond anything Miller, Budweiser or Coors currently puts out.

L: brilliant yellow permeated by streams of rapidly rising bubbles under a 2" white cap with fair to poor retention

S: light corn sweetness and traces of DMS (canned corn)

T: The flavors are low with a light grainy corn sweetness dominating

F: mildly creamy with a light body and above average carbonation

O: sets the standard for fizzy yellow beer

I tasted when it came back in 2008 and my memory lit up. It was Schlitz we snuck as kids. I want it now.
Finnegan's a beer that supports the homeless has taste similar to Schlitz.
