While the only other doppelsticke I've had is Uerige's, Upstream's is a good species alongside this style genus. With notable toffee and bread components to it, the beer is very interesting and pleasurable, if not a bit too sweet. I would also appreciate a bit more "depth" in flavor, but have little idea how to create such a sensation. Happy to have tried this, and would gladly have another.

Arrived with a small tan cap of foam atop the beer, which leaves a bit of lacing on the side of the glass as I drink. The body of the beer was a dark brown-amber hue, transparent, with some visible carbonation.

The aroma was malty and rather sweet, a bit of light toffee on some wheat toast. Unlike the Uerige doppelsticke, the nose on this isn't cavernously deep, but it's still nicely above average.

Taste is similar to scent, caramel, malt, bread flavors with a marked sweetness that's a bit out of place. Flavors are good and present, but again, if I compare this to Uerige's, it's a bit shallow in depth and didn't blow me away as that did.

Beer is medium to medium-heavy bodied, with ample carbonation making this a bit creamy on the palate. Finish is semi-dry.
