Nothing one would look for in a wheat; not cloudy, no head. Basically no wheat smell or look.
I was supprised to se the sampler come with a slice of lemon perched on the rim of the glass. I took it out but that was all I could taste.
I was not very happy with this one.

Tasted on-tap 11/06/06 at Upstream brewpub in Omaha, NE.
Light hazy straw color with a decent white head that leaves nice white lace. Fairly nice light grain aroma and flavor with no hint of hops. A light snappy citrus character that is typical of the style. Light bodied and a light crisp citric finish.
A solid American Pale Wheat but not a true standout...

Served on tap at the brewpub, served in a pint glass with a lemon slice on the rim that I removed
Ahazy pale yellow with a slight white head that fades down to a thin sheet in a few minutes, laces in spots
Slemon (maybe form the slice) and citrus, wheat smell is strong, some banana and just a hint of overripe fruit
Twheat and lemon, some candy like sweetness is very faint, cant really taste much of anything else
Ma little slick, light bodied, decent carbonation
Dnot bad. Might be better in the summer, but its cold outside right now.

Appearance: Came served to me in a glass mug, no head, just a ring around the glass and a small cloud of foam sitting on the hazy golden/yellow liquid. Not very active, lacing is nearly nonexistant except for a few stringers. Oh, it came served with a lemon wedge on the rim of the glass which was quickly discarded.
Smell: Slight hint of wheat, mostly citrus (lemon) which may or may not be attributed to the dang lemon slice. Overall when I think American Wheat I think of the smell of wheat being harvested in the summer, this did not really do it for me.
Taste: Just ok. Again some grainy wheat aspect, but mostly a citrus taste on the tongue as it went down. A touch sweet, but not cloyingly so.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium in body, slick, not much for carbonation.
Drinkability: An ok drinker, something I would normally order on a hot summer day, but 50's in November in Nebraska is warm.

Visited Upstream over the weekend in Omaha to specifically their down town location. Sampled their seasonal American Wheat on tap. Beer with a side or of lemon for the ride. The beer was a slight off yellow color with some cloudiness but mostly clear. The head retention and lace were limited and didnt last through the whole tasting. The smell was lacking which can occur with wheat beers but I couldnt really pick up on much of anything.
The taste was light for a wheat. A stronger carbonation gives the beer a zing which kind of kills the wheat flavor but heightens the fruit citrus flavor. A stronger lemon hint is present but the beer overall is light in taste. Some base malts are detectible, which I would have rather tasted more wheat but manageable. Reminds me of an American wheat. A moderate malt backing with very little spice.
Over it is very similar to their season Blueberry Ale. The body is light to medium and carbonation is strong. Overall a good experience.

Presentation: Sampled during a visit to the Upstream Brewing Company, Omaha on 24th August 2004. Served on draft, in a pint Glass. First of the night.
Appearance: Cloudy Hefe- like golden body with a nice thick white head that disappeared quickly but left a thin covering and a light layered lacing after each mouthful. Decent carbonation, streamers and a good initial presentation that lost a bit as it settled.
Nose: Wheat, lemons and lime rind. Though I have to say that the lemon had slipped in by the time I rescued it and gave it a dry paper napkin burial on the bar. Light at times.
Taste: Lemony start, dryish wheat, slightly sweet malt feel and a dry crisp finish that is short lived but leaves a trace of lemon on the tongue.
Mouthfeel: Nice smooth feel on the tongue, crisp and spritzy feel in the start, lively middle and refreshing finish. Medium body aided by controlled conditioning.
Drinkability: Solid drinker, no real downside here, crisp, clean and very refreshing on a hot day. In fact it was incredibly thirst quenching, so it makes a great introductory beer, especially as the humidity was well into the 90s outside!!
Overall: I have been to the Upstream before, on two occasions, but never tried this one. I think it safe to say that this is a standard American Wheat that will never win awards for being anything other than your run-of-the-mill offering. Not bad, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Cloudy gold with a nice white head leaving lace till the glass was empty.
Good floral scent with a lemony overtone. Some hop presence but nothing too crazy.
Refreshingly light taste that included healthy portions of malt and smooth hop overtone. Lemon present but not disturbing the great summer brew. Entirely too refreshing! A silky smooth froth that left the mouth feeling excited for another pass at this offering. It refreshed and teased the mouth for another swallow.
I liked this beer a great deal and wouldve enjoyed another but was running short on time. Next time I land in Omaha Ill gladly partake of this again.

Served with a traditional cloudy, hazy goldish-yellow body. The head had the best retention I have seen for the style, laced well too. The nose was faint, some toasty wheat, some citrusy-sweet malt, and a hint of sunflower seed. The flavors were similar, the sweet & toasty wheat malt worked well, as it warmed it got oily, a sunflower seed taste started to become strong. This version of an American Wheat wasnt anything special, just very well done. If you like the style, youd like this one.
