Pours a cloudy brown color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, caramel malt, slight pale malt, alcohol, peat, slight oatmeal, and a hint of smoke. Fits the style of a Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, caramel malt, slight pale malt, alcohol, peat, slight oatmeal, hint of boysenberry and a hint of smoke. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, blend, and feel with especially fresh malt flavors and aromas.

This is Volume II of the beer series. Volume I was only aged for two months.
A two barrel blend: an Elijah Craig 12 Year and a Buffalo Trace
Time in barrel: 9 months
Date Filled: March 28, 2013
Bottled: January 10, 2014
Release date: February 7, 2014
Bottles produced: 408 bottles
L - Pours an opaque mahogany body with a one finger light khaki head. Not much retention or lacing to speak of.
S - Vanilla, malts, dark fruits and bourbon notes. Has a faint tartness on the nose as well. Infected a bit or not?
T - I'm not tasting any tartness, thank goodness. Lots of dark fruits and raisins coupled with toffee and caramel. Some sweet vanilla followed with bourbon characteristics on the back end.
F - Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. Very smooth body, easy drinking.
O - This beer is hitting on all cylinders right now. Not huge barrel notes, which lets the base beer come through. Overall an enjoyable drink.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #69 (October 2012):
The core of the beer, the Wee Heavy, works from start to finish though it almost battles the barrel aged character and in other area it compliments. Balance is what we see here which is paramount for pretty much any beer that is destined to sit in a used barrel. Well crafted.
STYLE: Wee Heavy
ABV: 9.0%
AVAILABILITY: Limited
LOOK: Clear sunset amber, good frothing
SMELL: Wood tannin, vanilla, almonds, caramel, mild booziness, cake batter, spicy, alcohol soaked raisins
TASTE: Creamy, smooth, spicy bite, pulling wood, warming booziness, caramel, vanilla, very malty, mild barrel char, small hop presence, bourbon, toasted walnuts, faint barrel astringency, dry finish
