Chill hazed ruby red beer with a thick head that mellows down to a soapy lace.
Caramel upfront with smells of pennies and grapefruit.
Clean green apple and a dry caramel/toffee. Slight cloying at the end, cleaned up slowly by the hop.
Thin bodied, slight fizz, just about right for the style.
This beer was just about perfect for expectations of a red ale. Very tasty.

Served on tap at Big River Bar & Grille (Disney) in Lake Buena Vista, FL.
A: Pours a crystal clear dark amber to red in color with moderate amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a two finger tall dense off-white head that has very good retention properties leaving about a half finger of head covering the entire surface of the beer. Moderate to significant lacing is observed.
S: There is a pleasant earthiness to the aroma of this beer with lighter notes of caramel malts and pine/resin + citrus hop notes.
T: The flavors start out with a light amount of caramel malt sweetness that is followed by a pleasant amount of hop flavors - I detect the taste of earthy hops as well as lighter hints of citrus and pine. There is a moderate amount of lingering bitterness in this beer.
M: Medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly dry and crisp.
O: While not exactly refreshing, this beer was quite enjoyable and had a very pleasant aroma and flavor. The beer is easy to drink and could be sessionable, assuming that you are not sitting outside in the hot FL afternoon sun.

Had this beer with lunch at the Disneyworld Boardwalk Big River Brew Pub. I liked this one better than the Brown Ale. Reddish amber color, medium size white head. Average lacing and retention.
Mild, pleasant hoppy aroma. Tastes pretty good. Nice balance between citrus/piney hops and sweet caramel malts. Goes down easy as a red ale should.
Mouthfeel is crisp and a bit light. Overall a pretty good beer with food. Wouldn't mind it as a session beer either. A nice find at Disney World.

At a recent trip with my family to Disney, Big River's Red Rocket Ale arrived at the table in a pint glass. This beer is a lovely red amber tint, very clear with a nice big creamy head that falls slowly leaving decent lacing in it's wake.
The aroma has nice freshly baked bread, caramel and citrus tones.
The flavor has a good hop presence, close to IPA territory but nicely balanced with the caramel malt body. Citrusy hops round out the slightly nutty malts that also have a nice freshly baked bread presence as well.
The mouthfeel is medium, very smooth and perfectly carbonated.
What a great beer to round out the evening at Disney, and make no mistakes, you won't find better beer than this in your stay in the parks. An excellent Red Ale!

Brewer Kent put this dry hopped Red Rocket cask on Thursday while I was at the Brewery at Disney's Boardwalk. Seemed like a special treat after tasting all of Big River's Fresh Draft Beer.
Put into the cask before terminal gravity with two types of hops.
Nice creamy head (sparkler)
Deep hazey red color
Great example of a hoppy red cask ale.

Review from notes from my trip to Florida.
#4 of the night. Poured into a pint glass.
3.5 A: Crimson amber color. Can't say much about the head as it didn't come with one.
3.5 S: Caramel and toasty notes. Not much else, but enjoyable nonetheless.
3.5 T: Good caramel flavor with a toastiness again. Moderate bitterness. One again, simple but pleasant.
3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Decently creamy and smooth.
4.0 D: A simple, but decent beer.

A: This ale has a excellent copper/reddish color with a 1" head
S: This ale has a nice spicy smell that comes from the hops that are used, with a nice caramel malt to balance it out
T: This ale has a nice spicy hop bite with a bit of burnt sugar caramel malt taste
M: This ale has nice carbonization and goes down smooth
D: This is an ale that I will drink again

Disney World location.
This is a dark copper colored ale, with a nice thick tan head. Aroma is some spicy hops and a nice caramel malt balancing it out. Great tasting, with a more harsh spicy hop bite and a burnt sugar caramel malt thickness.
Good body on this Amber/Red ale, actually belying it's comparative smallness ABV-wise. Interestingly, I sat next to a stranger who was a self-proclaimed Miller Lite drinker and after trying a few samples she went for this beer and had 2 pints.
Good drinkable beer and to me, the best of the regular beers at this location.

Some dark sugar, metallic caramel and moderate toastiness round out this brew. A little light on the nose, but flavour is well balanced. Medium body and a low carbonation is nice. Fairly tasty but doesn't overbalance towards too much maltiness. IMO the best of the 6 beers I had here.

A - A very dark orangish copper color... Not any "red" to be found... A small whipped white head... Moderate carbonation...
S - A nicely balanced nose featuring both citrus hop notes and sweet caramel malts...
T - THe hops cut through to the forefront with in a very pleasant manner... A nice mix of citrus and piney hops leaning slightly more citrusy... The is a very nice malt backbone featuring a mix of caramel and toffee...
M - Medium bodied... Slightly pringly carbonation on the tongue... Slightly oily at first turing slightly chalky... A very minor hop bitterness on finish...
D - A solid and enjoyable Red Ale... Quite drinkable... Highly sessionable with enough hop presence to keep it interesting... A solid offering when on vacation with the family down in Disney World...

On tap at the Disney World Board Walk location.
Poured a very dark orange color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of stronger citrus (mainly oranges) and some caramel. Tastes of lemons, grapefruit, and somewhat nutty. Lively body. This was actually a decent Red Ale.

This is the beer I was seeking this place out for. Perhaps the flagship beer, not sure.
It poured a nice dark amber red with a small eggshell head. Some lace left behind.
The aroma was of a citric malt.
The taste threw me alittle, for off the bat, you get citric Cascade hop, some caramal malts and alittle grain.
The mouthfeel is crisp, slight dry tartness.
Drinkability, yes, but I wasn't expecting such a strong citric to this red. Overall, very good at 5.34%abv.

the current incarnation of this beer runs 5.3% at 13.5 degrees plato.
mahogany pour with red bottom highlights. dirty and wholesome with 3/4" of airy, tan head. leaves artsy volcanic lace patterns and a sea-foam cream layer atop the liquid. grassy-sweet smell of cascade hops and creamy caramel. aromatic suggestion of hickory wood accentuate the fresh hops over the malty sweetness. satisfying medium-range body, crisp with carbonation that tickles the tongue.. yet, substantially weighted and finishes with a strong yet soft-feeling green bitterness. nutmeg lingers on the palate. reminds me of a really good homebrew red and was, for me, beer salvation in the land of two big black round ears from HELL. would have had more of these, as its the best beer here, but i wanted to make my way through the menu.

Of the beers at Big River I think I enjoyed this one the most. It has a nice copper color, a floral hop nose and a tasty malty background paired with a citrus/pine hop punch. A rich and characterful brew this is sure to please the hop heads that need a respite in this otherwise Macro-centric Theme Park.

I'm glad I went on Beerfly to see that this would be the one to try versus going for the flight of all the choices on draft -- which was limited anyway. Fantastic ed Ale that's hoppy enough to be an IPA. Beautiful color and great carbonation, goes down very smooth and easy to finish. A little pricey at $5.25 a pint but hey it's Disney for you.

Draught @ Brewpub (Disney): This one pours a good reddish-amber color. It had a bit of a head to it. The aroma was decent enough, with some roasted malt and a hint of hop spiciness. The taste is pretty decent, with a touch of roastiness and maltiness. A fairly good balance between them. Unexciting, but a good beer for an intro to crafts.

Pours a reddish golden color with a slightly off white head (actually quite close to their Irish Red Lager).
Smell is green apples, caramel, slight biscuity and sweet malt, and quite a bit of grassy and floral hop characteristics.
Taste is almost dominated by hops and hop bitterness. There is a slight fruitiness and malt background there though.
Mouthfeel is good, and overall this is a pretty impressive beer. Quite enjoyable.

By far better than most of the beers available here. It poured a solid amber color with a slightly active carbonation. The nose had nice sweet citrusy hops over top of a caramel malt base. Wow. This smells nice. The flavor was very robist, starting with a full caramel malt followed by a grapefruit hop that fell off rather quikly. The feel was thick with a moderate carbonation. Overall, I thought it was a rather nice red ale. The flavors worked well and the nose was very pleasing.
