Really not the style, more of an American take on a British regular ale. still an enjoyable ale because of the balance. My Bottle from Capone’s. Big lace. Above average mouthfeel.Hoppy ale, with signs of dry hopping. A sweet finish and a nice palate cleaner.

75 cl bottle.

Pours a hazy reddish brown, yellowish half inch head dissipates slowly to a film.

Smells of mild piney hop, honey, and apples.

Woody flavor with some mild nut and hop bitterness and a bit of bready malt.

Medium body with light tingles of carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

A bit bland, but a decent ale, flavor balance is pretty good, nice hop element. Worth trying, although there are better offerings in the style, and better beers from East End.

Old Nebby Stock has a orangish-brown body and a tan head. Retention and lacing are both solid.

The aroma shows a good citrusy hop punch and a very dry malt base.

The flavor leads off with a lot of hops that bring grapefruit, pine, resin and a solid amount of bitterness. A little more hoppy than I would expect from an old ale. The malt base is everything that it should be, but a little bit weaker than I would like. Toffee, a bit of caramel, powdered cocoa, a hint of tobacco. Very dry beer overall.

Pretty high bitterness for the style, and fairly dry. Moderate in both carbonation and body.

I definitely love the name of this beer, but I think it is just too damn hoppy. The malts also need to be a lot more assertive, and hopefully that will happen as this one ages. I already sent a bottle to my secret Santa target, so I hope he likes his old ales with some hops thrown in.

Poured from a 1 L bottle into a Weyerbacher tulip glass...

A - Pours a rich, dark mahogany brown color; quite nice. A nice creamy eggshell white head forms about 1.5 fingers thick.

S - Sweetness comes right out along with a hit of malts and a BIG hit of hops. Citrus notes are at the forefront of the nose. There's a richness underneath, but the sweet aromas kind of drown it out.

T - Taste is quite similar to the nose. The hops really come strong adding grapefruit and piney notes to the flavor. Sweet, rich malts underneath add flavors of caramel, some slight dark fruit and some brown sugar.

M - Smooth and creamy medium bodied beer. The sweetness cuts down on the drinkability a little as my mouth wasn't a fan of the sweetness after a while.

O - Glad I only bought one bottle. Although I don't really consider this a $15 a bottle beer, it was nice to try another one off from Scott.
