Can > Lagunitas Mason
A - Pours a really nice slightly clouded orange with a big 2 finger foamy head, lacing everywhere.
S - Grapefruit citrus is the most prevalent scent along with some caramel malt.
T - Big ibu bitterness in front a little hop dankness, and some of that sweet caramel, some pine, but really dry aggressive bitter assault on your taste buds. The grapefruit is miniscule in the flavor compared to aroma. There is also a huge lager yeast taste in this.
M - Lingering bitterness.
O - Too abrasive of a flavor and mouthfeel for something that I'd want to enjoy again.

Served in a snifter glass.

Appearance: A hazy somewhat light copper orange with heavy bubbles on the body. Orange tinted white head maybe 1/4" off the body.

Taste: Wet-hopped, missing some key pieces to the puzzle that creates what the best DIPAs should, tastes good but needs more bitterness. Needs that grapefruit or at minimum floral and pines. More like your American Lager on roids.

Mouth: Little bitterness at the end of each sip, taste a bit sour almost like biting into raw green vegetables, sounds crazy but I am serious. Oh before I forget medium on the body.

Overall: My biggest knock on this beer is the fact that it is called an "Imperial IPA", some if nto most may argue that it would really taste more like a Imperial Lager, since it's characteristics as far as taste. Lacking complexity and true IPA bitterness, this beer isn't bad but don't expect this to be on the upper tier DIPAs, for less than three bucks a bottle/can, you can decide. Salud!

Poured from can to a tulip, well within best by date on can.

Pours a rich copper with gnarly cream colored head which is persistent. Great lacing. Looking forward to smelling and tasting this one.

Smell is a letdown. Somewhat biscuity, bland malts, severely lacking in any definitive hop aromas. Mildly astringent. Not entirely unpleasant though.

Taste is like the nose, but worse. None of the bready malts shine through for me, just nondescript cat pissy hops. I doubt it's intentional though. Blah.

Mouthfeel is fault-free. Not overly sticky for an IIPA

Overall, this beer was a letdown. Had some good traits, hut many more bad traits in my opinion.

The beer pours from a 50 degree can a beautifully clear and pure amber color with a huge 3 finger yellow/white head consisting of multiple sized bubbles that quickly fades to a ring and cap covering the top of the beer. It has lacing that is both nice and sticks to the glass and looks a little sloppy.

I found the aroma to be both equally malty and florally hoppy with notes of bread. I think it's a pretty well balanced aroma. Lovely and aromatic hops. Beautiful.

As for flavour, I'm finding the bready caramel malt base and the floral hops fairly balanced at the beginning of the sip. Well, maybe more hoppy than malty, but the hops become massively apparent towards the end leaving you bitter and dry. I do believe that along with the hops and carbonation that a slight alcohol burn is released. It's not overly noticeable which is a good accomplishment for an 8.4 ABV beer.

I also find the mouthfeel beneathe the hops to be rather smooth and creamy with moderate carbonation that gives way to a hoppy dry aftertaste that is fairly strong.

The beer is too hoppy for me. I like it, but I would only have one hoping that my next beer would erase the aftertaste. I'm not overly familiar with the style and please take my score with a grain of salt. I found it pretty balanced for being so hoppy except for the finish.

Poured into a Sam Adams glass, developed a fluffy, biscuit colored head whish laced and lasted. Appearance was a hazy, copper / amber color. Aroma was of light with hop and flower hints. Taste had notes of caramel and spice on the front with a hoppy finish. Aftertaste was pleasantly bitter and on the dry side. Mouthfeel was full and slightly carbonated.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a cloudy light brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of citrus and hops. Taste is hoppy, minty, bitter, a touch of malts, easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall it didn't knock my socks off, but is a pretty good beer, worth a shot.

12oz can into a tulip. Big thanks to Kegatron for hooking a brother up with all these canned offerings. The brew appears a mildly hazed copper color with 2.5 fingers of yellowish stained froth that collapses slowly to some big bubble formation and full patches of thick lace sticking to the glass. Before too long, a huge uneven cratered surface appears atop the liquid.

The aroma is dirty and almost chemical filled but not in a terribly disgusting way. It is somewhat mineral to metallic in character with such a strange aspect that seems chlorinated with some sulfur, cheese and fruity hops. As I smell this brew more, it has a bit of toasted toffee grain character blended into the backend as well.

The flavor is rindy, pitty and bitter with a flavor of grapefruit zest and pulp. A bit of catty quality mixed with bitter orange rinds and toffee to caramel sweetness mixed with biscuit to toasty grain. Somewhat buttery even a hint of grass, minerals and chlorine just like the aroma suggested.

This is a medium bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. The alcohol is somewhat integrated well within the confines of a bunch of strange character going on in this brew. I appreciate the chance to try this but could not finish my glass. Heath, I greatly appreciate the chance to try this but I am glad you liked this brew as little as I did. I would have felt like a jerk saying how terrible I felt this brew was without seeing you thought the same.

12oz can. Copper with a thick and foamy off-white head and general rich look to it. Smells medicinal and even a little metallic with a combo of tropical citrus and malt twang across the back. This isn’t pleasant. Taste is even less appealing with a raw vegetal bitterness that clashes with the herbal and tropical fruit feel on the edges. More raw bitterness on the finish. The feel is medium bodied with a crisp softness to the carbonation but this showing too much of that 8%+ ABV. Yikes. I’ve never been a big fan of this beer but this can presentation was pretty atrocious. I’m not sure if it was compromised in some way but the metallic, medicinal and all around raw feel of the flavors was pretty off-putting. Cool looking packaging but that’s about it.
