This beer poured a cloudy gold with a three finger white head which laced the glass to the last drop. It had an aroma of hops, citrus, and wheat. The taste was excellent. The hops and citrus flavors were well balanced. It was a nice smooth beer to drink. Very easy on the palate and very easy to drink. Cask was the way to go on this beer. Definitely a session beer for me.

12 oz can, with 6/15/13 date stamped on, assume a best by date.

appears dark copper in color, fairly clear. about 1/2" of off-white colored head. good head retention. smell is a mix of biscuity malt and fairly strong earthy hops. the taste is fairly similar flavors. starts sweet but finishes a tad bitter, but hops not that strong. medium body and higher carbonation. overall - fairly easy drinking IPA, good for summer.

12 oz can

Pours a deep amber gold, off-white head retains as a film.

Smells of piney hops and bready malts.

Bready malts with a mild citrus zing and a dry, piney hop bitterness in the taste. A hint of grapefruit bitterness as well and something I can't place, maybe something a herbal.

Medium body with a sharp stinging carbonation on the tongue, a little softer on the roof of the mouth.

Interesting and flavorful IPA, has a weird off taste that I'm not sure is supposed to be there, but its minimal. Despite that, I'd actually describe it as tasting very fresh. Worth trying, but I have had better IPAs. I will probably have this again just to see about the strange taste element I'm getting.

Had at Wegmans in Collegeville in a can.

Drank straight out of the can.
Scent of pineyness and citrus minimally, with hops essence.

This had a quite dry enjoyable flavor that lingered in the back of the tongue.
A slightly thinner mouthfeel is probably the only major negative about this, but it wasn't so unpleasant as to deter me from enjoying.

Sly Fox brewery is near where I live so i Know this is fresh. I've actually had it on tap years ago and recall really liking it back then too.

Good solid American IPA in the repertoire of Sly Fox.

Another random Sly Fox grab in Philly.

A- Poured from the can into a pint glass with a dark orange body. A really big creamy white head forms to about four fingers in size and retains very impressively. Eventually it all falls to a thin cloud but a thick ring leaves ample lacing down the whole glass.

S- Malt jumps out at me first because I am not used to sensing much in IPAs anymore. Caramel and slightly toasted sweetness to the grains. Hops here are mostly grassy, spicy, floral, herbal and pine. It takes on a slightly English feel to me.

T- Again, a pretty fair amount of balance going on which brings up the semi-taboo label of "East Coast IPA." Hops bring a pretty strong profile of grassy, herbal, floral, pine and spicy hints to me, like European hop strains. I do notice a fair amount of lemon zest and citrus like grapefruit here, this gets stronger with each sip. Malts and yeast bring on a balance of caramel, toast, nutty hints, dark fruit and some bread.

MF- Lighter overall body with a slightly creamy feel. Moderate amount of carbonation and a silky feel. Fairly bitter finish.

Fairly solid IPA that I had to adjust to because of it's hop profile. Among the citrus bombs of today there are still some IPAs that don't only use hops named Amarillo and Simcoe.

Can poured into a pint glass.

This beer's appearance is a a dark amber color similar to that of a Hop Devil. The head is nice and fluffy off-white and lingers for quite a while. The aroma is only slightly hoppy with hints of a metallic trace and some candy sweetness filling in the aroma as well. An average, or slightly less than average, smelling IPA. The flavor is quite bland and not at all very hoppy for an American styled IPA. There is a weird and strange fruitiness present in this beer that I usually don't detect in American IPA's. The flavor initially is slightly bitter and then this gives way to a rather unusual candy like flavor that lingers throughout the middle of the flavor process. The ending is rather bitter, but the bitterness available doesn't ride to well with the flavor that the beer presented. The longer I drink this beer...the more it seems to grow on me as I reach the bottom of the glass. The flavors seem to be melding together better. The MF is an average, lighter bodied ale. Overall, this is a decent American IPA. I have had much better, but I have also had much worse.

A: Long lasting lace with bits on the sides of the glass. Dark orange.
S: Nothing distinct. A little sweetness from the hops
M: Burns on the tongue long after the swallow. Not acidic.
T: Peppery grapefruit with fire from alcohol. Candy like in ways but never overly sweet. A bit like Razzles candy.

O: I've gotten this in cans on several occasions. It's not as balanced as say a SN Torpedo, but it's raw and tasty. Made several of my non BA friends make a face and pass the cup when sampling.

Pours a cloudy red amber color with a massive three finger fluffy white head. Some small fines and sediment are noticeable as the glass empties. This beer is plenty sticky and leaves behind heavy thick lacing draped along the glassware. A solid appearance and overall it's finest quality.

The smell is strong with bitter hops followed by caramel malt. A hint of tropical fruit reveals it's former path before perhaps a little too much age over took and spoiled it.

Taste is strong with pine and peppery spice followed by caramel and toffee. The tropical fruit flavor mentioned in several reviews is barely noticeable which again may be subdued in part by the longer age.

A bitter bite greets the taste buds quickly followed by a warming sensation. The heavy hop bite isn't a real surprise , after all it does clock in at 113 IBUs. The mouthfeel is medium in body and pleasent. The beer finishes tangy and very dry, too dry in fact. The heavy dryness causes cotton mouth after just one 12 oz serving.

Overall a decent beer. A little older than it should be? Maybe, but it's sometimes necessary to stretch the boundaries and see how beer transcends over time.

A: The beer is hazy amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation along with lots of small particles floating in suspension. It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of caramel malts and citrusy and floral hops in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of caramel malts and is accompanied by a moderate amount of bitterness and additional hints of spiciness from the hops, the latter of which stands out in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a good balance between the malt and hops—although it is packed with both of them neither really seems to overpower the other.

A-dark honey colors with a thin cream colored head

S-extremely extremely faint scent of citrus and aged hops. Very faint.

T-comes in with a very nice citrusy taste if fresh hops. Not expecting such a decent taste considering the nose. Then comes a very welcomed bitterness. This just a fresh and flavorful tasting IPA. Good matching after-taste.

M-medium dry carbonation with a semi-dry finish

O-I was expecting a let down but I was fairly pleased with this. The flavors are everything you want from a craft IPA. It doesn't offer anything new and exciting, but it's different and it's cheap and it tastes good. Go out and try it!

Knowing how important Pottstown, Pennsylvania is to the world, I hoped better for better. Pottstown has Mrs. Smith Pies, and the Limerick power plant nearby, but is still struggling from the loss of Firestone tires and Bethelem Steel. A hardworking town has yet to fully make a great craft beer.

I had a draft of the Route 113 IPA at Harvest Seasonal Grill (http://harvestseasonalgrill.com/) in Philadelphia, poured into a pint glass. A great restaurant featuring locally grown and often sustainable food, I jumped at the opportunity to be brought "home." Route 113 is like the Schuykill River, crossing through towns and counties like Montgomery and Bucks and Trappe and Souderton. Sly Fox had an opportunity to tempt my palate through my heart, but reminded me more of a bad taste of the oxbow on River Road by the Pottstown Plate Works.

The color looked wonderfull attractive: amber and ruby, with a small white head (which dissapated before being delivered to the table). A small film was left on the glass.

I did not have much smell and had difficulty finding more than grass and light hops. I was hoping for grapefruit and pine.

Very little hops, but lots of malt to the brew. I've been drinking some strong IPAs, and this was very, very light.

Soft mouthfeel, not much character. On the good side, thie beer did not compete with my starters at the restaurant -- beet salad and humus. I was surprised when writing my thoughts down to see that this is a beer full of hops.

I'm hoping that this beer will improve with effort and that Sly Fox will put Pottstown and Phoenixville on the brewing world map. Unfortunately, it is disappointing.

Enjoyed at the tasting room in Pottstown, PA

A: half finger head on a clear crimson body. Excellent lacing.

S: nice caramel malt presence but the hops are light mostly providing candied citrus notes.

T: malt forward IPA with caramel and nice toasted malt sense. The hips are definitely mild with mostly earthy and slight bitter citrus but again take a back seat to the malt.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: hoppiness is sacrificed for drinkability with this one. An IPA for the masses.

The overall impression I got from this beer was that it tastes like a Scotch Ale with copious amounts of bittering hops. The malt is overly toffee/caramel sweet. The can states 3 different varieties of hops, but to me the hop flavor was one dimensional; just bitter. Not undrinkable, but not something I would revisit by choice.

Appearance: Beautiful amber colored with a minimal off white head. Crystal clear.

Smell: Wonderful earthy hop aroma. One of the best smelling beer's I've had.

Taste: British hops dominate. This is definitely an East Coast IPA. the citrus hops shine through in the finish

Mouthfeel: Slightly puckering and astringent. Grapefruit like bitterness in here causes the pucker as well.

Overall: A decent example of an ipa, with an strange mixture of hops.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into my Sly Fox mug at the 2012 Bock Fest. I can't believe I have never reviewed this before, so now is time.

A: A dark orange color with almost some hints of light brown. A big two finger off white head sits atop and leaves lacing.

S: This can is fresh! Huge grapefruit and pineapple hops mix with some pine and malt sweetness. Some slight earthy smells mix with the biscuit sweetness.

T: The citrus really is jumping on this can, but in a very east coast way. Grapefruit and pineapple are the big citrus flavors that mix with some resiny pine and earthy hops flavors. No tropical fruit here as the earthy hops eventually stomp over the lighter citrus flaovrs. Sweetness is slight with biscuit and bread flavors that turn back to the piney hops for a nice, but not overly, bitter finish.

M: Oily, resiny, medium mouthfeel that sticks with some bitterness. No alcohol, but flavor lasts.

O: A nice IPA, but not an award winner. As i said, this is either really, really fresh or the recipe has yielded some additional citrus flavors this year. Nice beer.

I can't believe I have had tons of these and was never compelled to review. Well this can I had on Sunday was very good and it moved me to finally review it. Solid IPA.

A - Two fingers worth of frothy creamy slightly off-white colored head... Very solid retention... A good bit of moderate to quick paced carbonation rises within... A light caramel coloring with a faint yet distinctive amber hue...

S - Lots of pale malts... Lots of earthy grass notes... The hops take on a certain euro character... A slight metallic tinge... Rather subdued and seems to be a bit off for the style...

T - Pale malts... A touch of caramel... Some grassy notes... A slight piney hop presence rises and then quickly fades out... The finish has some slight metallic tones to it... The components don't hold together that well...

M - On the lighter side of medium bodied... This one is definitely a bit thin... Very light carbonation... Mundane... Very basic uninspiring mouthfeel at best...

D - A hate to be hard on a local brewery, but this one really misses the mark for me... It's a bit of a stretch to even call this one average... The are some decent part here, but they are a bit disjointed and don't seem to compliment each other as they should...

12oz can from Warners at the Bay, into a Brooklyn tulip.

A real ruby-amber colour, some off-white head that laces well and sits as film.

Not a lot going on with the smell, some grain, some dry-grass but that is about it.

Tastes of dried grass with plenty of malt backing it up. Not near enough hopping, or this is not very fresh.

Mouthfeel is full and rounded, but that is because it lacks bitterness. There is plenty of malt to speak of. The 113 IBU is almost undetectable.

Doesn't deliver, a dull, uninteresting PA beer. A shame, as its a state that normally delivers when it comes to beer. This is just disappointing.

An aggressive pour yielded a finger of banana creme colored head over a light orange/copper body. Good amount of bubbles going bottom to top, decent head retention, nice lacing.

Grapefruit and pine are the first apparent aromas. After a couple sniffs you start to notice some deeper citrus notes, a grassy hint and a little caramel malt.

Starts out sweet and caramel-esque before delving into the land of the hops. Sweet grass compliments a mix of mandarin oranges and pineapple before some hard pine comes in and finishes your tongue off.

This beer is medium bodied, and the carbonation is rather subdued. That being said, it's about 80 degrees today, in March, near Cleveland... this is rather refreshing. Slides smooth over the tongue, it's not sticky, but certainly finishes dry.

Route 113 pours a pretty red colour with nice head and lacing.

Smell is nice. Definitely get some caramel malt with fruity hops.

As for the taste, this must be one of the driest beers I’ve ever had. I mean, you can still taste the malt and detect the sugar when you search for it but it’s just really dry. It is bitter but not hugely so, I think it needs more malt to carry the bitterness further.

Mouthfeel is medium, resiny, medium carb.

Overall a nice beer but no wow factor at all. The bitterness is enjoyable though.

Deep red-brown. Very dark for an IPA. Tight bubbles lace with an eggshell coat

Grapefruit rind bitter aroma, grassy hops too, some honey sweetness. Slight soapy scent/floral character.

Floral hop galore with slight citrus. Wheat bread malt. Some apricot fruitiness. Bit of Band-Aid medicinal off-flavors.

Decent carb level. Medium body. Nice feel.

Not bad. Could use more in the aromatics department. Definitely a floral IPA. Exemplary of the style.

Apparent best-by date of 4/29/12. Cystal clear, it's one of the darker IPAs I've had in a while with notes of red, orange and brown. Decent one finger head had pretty good lacing.

Nose is pretty good balance of citrus and pine, nice and spicy but a bit tame for an American IPA. Hops show themselves a bit more in the first sip, but the caramel malt puts up a fight and adds a fantastic balance.

I would never guess this is as high as 7% abv. Hopheads will likely be disappointed, but I really enjoyed the drinkability of this. The heavy malt sweetness sort of take the I out of the IPA, but I would definitely buy this again.

Pours a clear caramel copper color with a big dense off-white head that left crazy lacing on the side of the glass. Nice fluffy ass head.

The aroma is a bit disappointing, not much of a hop presence. There is a bready aroma with a hint of toffee/caramel. Really not much if anything from the hops.

The taste is of a big bready malt, some honey and toffee sweetness. There is some tropical fruit hop flavor and some grassy bitterness and grapefruit rind. Not very hop flavorful.

Moderate body with prickly carbonation which helps break up the malt body. The sweetness from the malt borders DIPA status. There is enough of a grassy and piney bitterness that it provides a good balance. Drinks well.

Not a very flavorful AIPA, perhaps the hops faded. Almost a DIPA body but has good balance. I much rather have a Dale's Pale Ale.

Very dark, beautiful color. Kind of a ruby-reddish amber Low carbonation. Nose is sweet and not as hoppy as I expected. Cherries and muted orange zest.

This is 113 IBUs? Maybe this beer is a bit old (I don't see any freshness date or other info) or maybe I'm a bit old. Either way, I didn't get much in the way of a hoppy tongue-lashing like I expected. The mouthfeel is firm and oily, but the flavor is sweet and just kind of dead. Apricots and biscuits, but none of the zesty citrus flavors I was expecting. I'll bet this stuff is good when it's fresh.
