A-medium amber color with a decent white head and some lacing
S-citrus and nice floral aromas with a little malt
T-citrus and some pineapple with malt and solid hop bitten as, but some off-flavors in the mix
F-medium body with moderate carbonation
O-a decent IPA, but lacks the balance and flavor of the better ones

With thanks to MrKennedy for bringing this back for me from Warners at the Bay.
Route 113 pours a pretty red colour with nice head and lacing.
Smell is nice. Definitely get some caramel malt with fruity hops.
As for the taste, this must be one of the driest beers I’ve ever had. I mean, you can still taste the malt and detect the sugar when you search for it but it’s just really dry. It is bitter but not hugely so, I think it needs more malt to carry the bitterness further.
Mouthfeel is medium, resiny, medium carb.
Overall a nice beer but no wow factor at all. The bitterness is enjoyable though.

Picked up a bottle at Giant Eagle for 4.99
A - A nice clear amber maybe a touch darker than typical offerings with a slightly opaque inch of head that has some moderate lacing.
S - Bitter and herbal with some sugar and bread malts to keep it in check.
T - Well I didn't get a big rush of hops so I assume my bottles a bit old but it does have a touch of pine that quickly pushes to a sugar like gram cracker malt. Slight sticky post hop bitterness too. Eh.
M - Light to medium this is the best part that it drinks rather easy.
Overall I remember this being a "hop assault" in a can but a 2 month old bottle is actually pretty decent (best by date 12/22/11). Maybe it's my palate so I will have to review the can someday.

22oz bomber, served in a standard pint glass
A - pours with about two fingers of loose, fizzy off-white foam. the beer is just about crystal clear, copper in color.
S - ample balance between caramel, toasted malts and handful of C-hops. hops are somewhat bright, piney with a bit of grass.
T - bitterness is there, flashing right away before turning to the sweeter side. pine is abundant, joined by bits of grassiness and a hint of citrus. tbh this tastes like an imperial, slightly more hopped version of Sam Adams.
M - thin body with bright, prickly carbonation. lack of body and slick, oil found in better IPA's. very dry finish, slightly sticky.
O - this IPA offers a fair amount of IBU's, but lacks some interesting hop flavors. a bit one sided with what I'm guessing is Cascades, a solid malt base provides a fair amount of balance but there just isnt enough interesting qualities to keep me interested.

22oz bottle received in trade from user jacksdad12109. thanks again jon! drank from my sierra nevada hop tulip glass.
A- this one pours out a translucent deep copper colored body with a finger and a half of just off-white colored head on top. the head fades faster than i would like and leaves behind small spots of lacing.
S- very hoppy smelling, but not in the typical IPA sense. herbal and floral hops lead the way. lesser amounts of grapefruit and pine follow. at the end some sweet caramel malt moves in to add some balance.
T- the taste starts out with more of the sweet caramel malts that i could smell. after that i pick up on the hops that i could smell. lots of herbal and floral hops. some pine in here as well. a little bit of grapefruit after that.
M- a solid medium body. the carbonation level is average as well. nicely bitter without being overpowering.
O- not the best IPA ive had, but not the worst either. something i would consider picking up again were it in front of me, but not something i will be actively seeking out again. thanks again for the chance to try this jon.

This IPA pours out as a orange amber earthy color, the head is foamy and white. The smell is pretty hoppy, smelled like a typical IPA. The taste is a little bit of the earthy hoppy side. It's not like some of the citrusy IPAs out there. The mouthfeel on this brew is kinda slightly thicker than most regular IPAs. Overall I'm more into the citrusy hops than the earthy ones so this IPA was overly impressive for me.

Got in a trade from G311. This guys is the best!
Bottle.
Pours a heavy dense bronze color with a thick yellowish white head and a ton of lacing. Smells of piny, woody, resinous hops and a little malt in there somewhere. Tastes of hops and a little lowly citrus hiding in there. Mouthfeel is medium with a bit of carbonation. Overall it is not as great as I was hoping. The worst Sly Fox brew I've tried to date.

Interesting IPA
Poured into A Glass from a 22oz bomber
A: Copper, Good head
S: Malty, not a big Citrus Smack, earthier mossy...
t: Smokey, Moss, a slight berry component before the hops set in for the finish. Long lasting finish
m: thin, good carbonation, astringic finish-
I like it overall, Lots of IPA's out there and its a bit different than what I usually pickup. That may be why its standing out as a nice drinking beer.

Clear copper with a hefty, frothy head
Nose is sweet, fruity, with citrus/grapefruit. Light caramel and toasted notes.
Quite bitter and fairly one-dimensionally hoppy. A bit of a leafy tobacco. Could use a touch more sweetness to balance out a bit of a coarse hop.
Smooth. Light-moderate body.
A bit on the bitter side, but still drinkable. nice hoppiness.

Pours glowing cherry amber with a lumpy white head that trails. Juicy floral resin nose. Big juicy red berry and fruit jam malts, some toast and caramel, then citrus and tropical fruit hops with some grass and deep spice - very layered hops. Tight finish. Incredibly long, bitter, almost heart-burning linger. Chewy, some burn, tingly, on the light side of medium.
Dunno about 113 IBUs, but this is a big, sticky, red IPA. I can taste (or imagine I can) the German, American, and English hop strands. Almost like Gordon, so verging on a hoppy amber.
At the same time, a bit thin and doesn't go down easy. The taste rating is based more on being impressed by the complexity than it actually being tasty.
Something of a flawed masterpiece.

A: Nice pour with a 1/2 inch tan cap tightly clinging to glass to the end with a great carmel color.
S: Hops floral and spicey light piney scent, sweet malts.
T: Wonderful balance of hops and malt great malts up front with hoppy finish.
M: Creamy smooth, medium body, slight alchohol finish.
D: Very drinkable and would drink a few if I had them. Will definitly search out some more of this beer and more from the brewery.

Bomber poured into a pint glass
Appearance - The beer pours a clear amber/orange colour with a medium size off white frothy head. There is a low to average amount of carbonation, and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for a couple of minutes before it was gone.
Smell - hops, roasted malts, caramel, and floral/pine notes.
Taste & Mouth - The beer has a nice mouth feel, perhaps it might benefit from a touch more carbonation; but it is still good nonetheless. It is creamy and smooth with a sweet malt taste combined with an above average amount of hops - the hops aren't over powering though. There is a toasted caramel flavour that sticks with the entire mouthful and it fades into a nice bitter hops aftertaste.
Drink - this is a nice pale ale that I would say somewhat compares to Rogue's Brutal Bitter. Worth a try if you happen to see it on the shelf.

Pours a nice deep copper with bronze hues and a foamy off white head that is quite deep and patient to give way to a dense, sticky lacing.
The aroma consists of pine and citrus hops with a bit of complimentary sweet malt.
The flavor is very similar to the aroma with up front pine and citrus hops, a bit resinous with sweet malt appearing for some balance as it warms.
This beer is medium in body and carbonation with a drying finish and quite a hop punch.
This is a good beer, nothing over the top, just a nice IPA that is a touch on the hoppy side, relatively speaking.

a- bomber poured into a pint, hazy chesnut coloring, one fingers worth of head with nice retention leaves behind decent lace.
s- malt heavy, earthy hops, some herbal notes dominate.
t- malt upfront fades to earthy, herbal hops with some more flowery notes coming out, amble bitterness, good though.
m- medium bodied.
d- good drinkability, i wasn't wowed by this but it's still a solid ipa that i'd drink again if i didn't have any other better ipa options.

Thanks to beerman207 for hooking me up with this offering. Review is from notes taken on 7/12/2010 and poured from the bottle to a pint glass.
Appearance: Pour is a solid coppery color and starts with a 1/2 finger off-white head that fades quickly to a thin, but full cap; body has good clarity and shows quick and strong carbonation; fair washes, spots and strands of lacing are left behind.
Smell: Bitter grassy and citric hops and just a slight hint of mild skunkiness that slowly disappears (fortunately - I was getting a little nervous); a wet bit of graininess lingers around as well -- the smell is OK, but is considerably weak.
Taste: Pretty nice -- solid bitterness that is grassy, and astringently citric -- like a lot of rind and peel; a lightly sweet maltiness rides out in the finish. Simple, straightforward, and pretty tasty.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with carbonation that's just about right -- present and lively, but not sharp and irritating; a dry and thick sticky resin coating is left behind, and it holds fast to the bitterness; really comes across as refreshing.
Drinkability: Pretty solid, and there's really nothing wrong with this beer -- getting through a 22 oz. bottle is really not proving to be an issue.

Reviewed from notes
Pours a copper/orange with a finger of persistent head and spots of lacing. Aroma is unfortunately waxy, and any hop presence that should be there is trumped by that waxiness. Lots of sweet caramel and bready malts as well. The flavor is an improvement but mainly in that the waxiness is gone. The bready maltiness dominates a little too much to really qualify this as an india pale ale. Rename it an amber ale and it might be a bit more acceptable (3.5 worthy maybe). Overall this was definitely a manageable beer, but really pretty average.

A-Body is a transparent rusty amber hue. Pours with a nice 1-2 finger head which eventually fades to 1/2 finger and has perfect retention from there. Plenty of lacing is left behind in the glass. A beautiful IPA.
S-Nose is fairly mild and offers a pale malt sweetness and a light earthy hop accent as well as a very faint citrus.
T-Upfront is a moderate dose of herbal/earthy hop flavor with a faint sweetness and pale malt backbone. The finish is a moderate dose of herbal and earthy hops as well as their accompanying bitterness...though t he bitterness is slightly prickly. Flavor isn't bad-but a very mediocre "every IPA" flavor.
M-Medium weight body that is pretty smooth and oily-a hair thin but well done over all.
D-This IPA is drinkable and decent but rather boring for the style. I found a bomber of this at giant eagle and was looking forward to trying it-as it is my first sly fox brew. Its pretty good overall...but mediocre for the style. Not my favorite...but far from my least favorite.

This is a live one - reviewing it as I drink it, instead of writing it down for later.
Poured a duece-duece into my Dortmunder Boot (I think its the perfect beer drinking glass for any style or occasion)
Pour - litte bit cloudy, nice solemn amber-brown with hues of red, yellow and orange. Poured two fingers, laced down to an even one that sticks around. Very smooth head - almost microscopic bubbles. Creamy to say the least.
Nose - Citrusy with a mellow hop. Light aroma, nothing TOO serious.
Taste - smell is decieving. A very prominent hoppiness right out of the gate. Body is full, thick and very creamy, almost like a porter. Notes of palm, grapefruit and something in the area of plums, or raisins. A bittersweet after taste with all cascade hops on the birp. Butter comes to mind as well.
Mouthfeel - very smooth for an IPA. Carbonation is kept in good check, yet enough to add to the hopps. Body is excellent - present but not overwhelming. A very well balanced beer.
Drinkability - I will have more of this one. As a session beer, Id say "absolutely 100%" this one is for hop fanatics.

Another treat I got from Jason
Bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass produced a finger worth of white head that trailed off to a thin lace. The body was a clear reddish bronze color.
It had a nice amount of citrus aromas coming up from the glass. A rather nice showing of the hops in the flavors as well but balanced well with the malt bill so you have a nice drinkable IPA . It was light and crisp in my mouth with good carbonation.
It drank well and went well with my spicy Asian food. I had for lunch. I would drink this one again

Very dark shade of burnt orange, bordering on brown. Thin head with very fine bubbles. Leaves a bit of lacing.
Judging by the scent, I'm going to say this is a well balanced IPA. Big caramel malt scent, brown sugar and citric hops bringing up the rear.
Kind of a mess on the palate. Very malty, but lacking the sweetness from the nose. Hops are quite bitter, but more grassy than citrus. Burnt sugar in the aftertaste. Some sweetness could really help to balance this out.
Medium bodied and pretty smooth, but as soon as the beer is down the hatch, the tongue is unpleasantly dried out to the feel of sandpaper. It's like the beer sucks every last drop of moisture out of the mouth. Never experienced anything like it.
Sure it's drinkable, it's just not the most enjoyable beer. Average at best IPA. There are just so many better ones out there. I would pass on this one next time.

22oz. bomber: This one poured about 1/4 beer and 3/4 head. It took an awfully long time for the off-white head to die down. The beer itself is clear and somewhat orange in color. Pine, grapefruit and earthy hops. I also get some malts coming through. The taste is very well balanced. The hops aren't overpowering and there is a good malt body to it. Another fine beer from Sly Fox.

22 ounce bottle, with "99604BY7/14/10" printed on top of the Route 113 part of the label. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a dark amber color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is pine and citrusy (grapefruit, orange) hops, along with some caramel malt and bread. It's a nice smelling brew, but the aroma is a bit weak. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, however the hops are stronger in the taste than the aroma would indicate. There's also a good lingering bitter hoppy finish. Mouthfeel/body is medium, and it's well carbonated. Drinkability is good, it's smooth and it's easy to drink. For the style I think it's a good overall brew. I'd pick up a bomber of this again in the future.

Bomber into glass. Whee.
Pours a dark amber with little head, but lots of bubbles clinging to the side of the glass in the beer.
Smells hoppy and malty, kind of earthy, with a heavy sweetness threatening from behind.
Hits lightly sweet and spicy, in the middle the hops really come out with bitterness and pine, then finishes bitter with some hoppy pine. There's very little of the heavy sweetness that you'd get in the smell. It's a good contrast. While the flavors aren't all that, the consistence with contrasting accessory flavors make it very intersting.
It has a medium weight on the tongue, especially at first, but finishes somewhat crisp with lingering bite.
By individual flavors this one doesn't really stand out, but the interplay adds a lot.

Found this in the grocery store when I was shopping across the border.
A-Poured a nice dark amber with a fairly long lasting head. Some lacing
S-Malty brown sugar notes were most prominant with some citrusy hops rounding it out.
T-Def more Malty in my opinion with the hops being more of a spicy influence than a bittering punch you in the face taste like other AIPAs. Still very hoppy but I just found the hops to be slightly different than in some of the other AIPAs
M-Somewhat heavier almost as if you were getting some hop oils in there as well as speaking to the higher ABV of 7%.
D- Very drinkable although with the higher strength you may not want to have too many. It seems like it would be a great beer to have on a cold fall day or while shovelling snow. The spicyness reminded me of colder times for sure.

Deep ruddy orange color, slightly hazed, with a thick and dimpled two inch head that caps the top of the glass and hangs out for a good long while.
Inviting aroma of doughey malt, grainy brown sugar, some citric hoppiness, floral notes, and some faint yeastiness.
Flavor is orange rind hoppiness right upfront, but not too aggressive. Moves to piney bitters, getting more aggressive, and shortly morphs into a grapefruit rind pucker as the bitterness snowballs. Some firm malt rides beneath suggesting caramel and toffee and adding some balance, but the bitterness pushes it back.
Full and chewy mouthfeel, round and firm. Tasty beer and quite bitter and drinkable, but I would prefer more malt in the mix.
