I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Ginger Man. I loved walking in and being faced by over 60 beer taps and two hand pumps. Between the 60 draughts and the 100 or so bottled beers, many of which I've never had the chance to taste, the selection was awesome.
I sampled a number of beers in addition to the ones that I actually paid for so it was my kind of service. The bartender was knowledgeable, friendly and took a lot of time discussing the beer with me. Of course, I had my BA hat on so maybe that was the reason.
I found the prices reasonable for Manhatten. Some of the bottles are pricey but it would take me many moons to get beyond the draft selection.
The food was excellent. The bartender got the soup wrong in her description so she comped the soup. Three of us got out under $60 for about five or six drafts, soups, sandwiches or salads. I consider that a bargain. Well, considering tip, it was higher but worth it.
I will definitely be making a return trip on my next visit to NYC, but there are many other spots that I also hope to visit.

Had beers and food on a Saturday afternoon while visiting NYC for a concert.
Good atmosphere - a dark wood pub feed. Our group was able to claim one of the bench tables across from the bar when we arrived. Besides the tables and the bar, there is a room in the front, and a room in the back with upholstered chairs to sit in. Nice music, but not too loud. Easy to have conversations while you drink. It started to get a bit more crowded by the time we left at 6:30 pm.
If you can't find a top-notch beer that you like, then you've got a problem. The 70 beers on tap are arraigned on the beer list by style, along with ABV, serving size, and price. Most lower alcohol beers were served in 20 oz pint glasses, most higher alcohol beers in 12 oz snifters. Draft beers ranged from $7 to $12. Mix of American craft and Imports, and a fair number of limited release offerings. If you stuck with the lower ABV beers in 20oz glasses, the prices weren't too bad considering it's in Manhattan. The bottle list prices were pretty steep though, but there's no reason to order off of it.
Food is limited to "Gastropub" fare - we had fresh pretzels and chips, a charcuterie plate, and sandwiches, which were all very tasty.
Our server was very friendly, attentive, and made recommendations when we asked. Overall, I would definitely recommend!

Imagine a version of Rattle 'N' Hum that is a little more upscale and a little more snobby at times and you have The Ginger Man. This place has a more expansive tap list and a solid bottle list, something on their list is guaranteed to make your taste buds tingle.
I do enjoy visiting this joint only when it isn't packed and you can find a seat at one of the tables, the bar, or one of their many comfortable pieces of furniture that are littered throughout the building. This place is definitely more comfortable for that fact that you can sit on a nice piece of living room furniture.
At times, when this place is packed it can be quite annoying to find service or a spot to sit as well as the possibility of being turned off to the venue due to the type of crowd that has infiltrated this establishment.
Pick a downtime to visit this great beer spot!

I am glad I found this bar early on in my time in NYC. This has a great central location in Manhattan, very easy to get to by bike or train/bus and a short walk. They have a very solid draft list and hovers around 50 that cover local, regional, European, and regularly get special release sixtels(Bruery, Kuhnhenn, Peekskill, Allagash, Founders, Firestone Walker, etc). They also carry a small but well curated bottle list. It's large and comfortable but equally busy. Best to stop in on am afternoon. Good pizza, pretzels, and other pub fare. If you are visiting, it's a great place to stop for a pint and to get away from the crowds.
