Growler filled at the brewery.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/2" beige head over the slightly cloudy dark amber brew. Head falls at a moderate rate, but holds on with a thin bubbly coverage, and reasonably slow-falling lace. Aroma is light cloves and wheat tones, but minimal. Taste starts with a lightly prickly wheat, hits the clove again in the middle, and closes with light bitterness. Mouthfeel and drinkability are nice, this one is quite approachable, yet almost kind of boring. Your mileage may vary.

The look of this beer is extraordinarily cloudy and hazy. It has a dark orange color. Gives a decent, pillowy head that proves to be rather short-lived. Very little lace.

Gives off a hefty sweet malt smell, with that smoky wheat undertone. Has a slight hint of that winter-ale fruitiness. A wheaty waft fills the glass.

Combines the sweetness of the winter, with the sour pungency of a Belgian. Smoky, but sweet; a very good balance. Also is a bit spicy.

Thick and creamy feel, even when cold. Has a bite all the way down. It's a nice drink that does warm you up a little with it's spicy flavor. The balance counteracts the sweetness that many winter ales have. Not bad at all.

Had this first on-tap in the MA tasting room and liked it enough to fill up my growler.

Upon opening the growler it poured a nice lighter brown with a 1" head. Looks great.

Nice fruity aroma with malt and yeast. Smells like a nice wheat beer.

The taste was good, but very disappointing. I dont know if it has some how changed states from the tap-room to my glass in one day, but this isn't worthy of growler fill-up. Its a little malty and a tad fruity but the taste is way too mild. Where's all the flavor guys?

Seems watered down. Very light feeling for a dark wheat beer. Heck, most normal wheat beers have more body.

Very drinkable, the 6.3% doesn't come out at all and if you're not careful it'll catch up with you. However, it was a disappointing drink. Reminds me of Ithaca Beer Co's Nut Brown in terms of drinking. Light bodied dark beer.

After having a growler of the Duke of Winship last weekend, this really can't compare. It's a good beer, but not for me. I need something with a little more umpff.

Dark ruddy copper with a nice head of off-white foam. Aromas are interesting wheat, german yeast notes and phenols, banana, cloves, spices, and more. The taste follows suit but some of the complexity does not carry over from the aroma. This is like aventinus light or something. With some tweaking this could be up there with Aventinus or Rammsteins fabulous winter wheat brew. Mouthfeel is nice, and not too thick. Drinkability is good. This can be a real contender.

The beer pours a dark amber/light brown color with a thick frothy offwhite head that slowly fades. The aroma is good. It has a dry, yet fruity wheat malt scent along with a yeasty finish. It's a bit refreshing, but nothing special. The taste is decent. It is light and slightly fruity although the appearance is quite dark compared to the Swallow Wit. It goes down smooth and finishes dry and light. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low/medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a good drinking seasonal that I think could use some tweaking.
