A bar with an arcade = Barcade! Who'da thunk it! From the outside you'd say "THIS is a bar?". Located in a big, blah-looking brick building, the inside is very dark, with a high-ceiling. Gives it an abandoned factory/warehouse feel. There's a small table and chairs inside at the left, then about a dozen video games. On the right is a long 3-sided bar with loads of stools. Far back left corner offers up a pool table, and the back right has another 6-8 video games. Generally a young crowd, and loud music filled the air, though I never bothered to pay attention to what was actually being played.
They had a sweet list of draft biers, with the likes of Brooklyn, Climax, DFH, Sierra Nevada, Fishermans, Goose Island, Rogue, Sixpoint, Victory.... Hell yeah!! And reasonably priced, too! Only 5 bucks for a pint of DFH 90 Minute. Sweet! Any bottled offerings escaped my eye, though. The bartender was supremely courteous and efficient (and lovely, as well...).
If you don't mind the loud music and the young 'uns, go for it, because the biers (and prices) rock!

This was our last stop on my recent Brooklyn beerbar pub crawl and while it lacked the atmosphere of the Duyvil, it has an atmosphere in its own right that is tremendously cool.
In the photo that is shown of the outside you can see this little table area outside with a few benches. We hung out at this little outdoor area and watched it rain whilst enjoying some great beers and meeting some cool folks. They make you come inside with your drinks at 9 and we left shortly after that.
I finally got to try a Southhampton offering--the Grand Cru which is pretty highly rated on BA. I was disappointed with it as I felt it was a tad too sweet. I had some Fishermans brew which I enjoyed quite a bit and some other beer that escapes me. Ya gotta love the vintage video games for a quarter a piece. The beer prices were not as good as at Mug's but they really had the draft beers here that I was hoping to try. Another gem of a bar. Highly recommended.

Stopped by here during a recent trip to Brooklyn.
Barcade is basically a big open room which is very dark with a large bar on the right and a bunch of classic arcade games lining the walls. Above the bar is the tap list which is usually very impressive and on the oppsite wall is a chalkboard with the video game high scores.
This place has a really cool vibe and as a lover if video games(especially classics like Mrs. Pacman, Tapper, Marble Madness, etc.) I really loved this place. The crowd seems to be a bit younger and the place is filler with hipsters. Expect a lot of beards, tight t shirts and skinny jeans. They allow dogs as well which is a nice touch.
The selection here is quite impressive and hey often have special events. I've been there for a Sixpoint event as well as a Brooklyn promo. They have about 25 taps with revolving selection of craft beers at reasonable prices.
The service at this place is puzzling. The last rime I was there thenplace was packed and it was a Friday Night. They only had one bartender which was odd but he managed to take care of everyone pretty quickly considering the crowd.
Overall, I would highly recommend this bar to anyone in or visiting the NYC/Brooklyn area.

Brooklyn Beer Bar Pilgrimage Part III
Barcade was the last stop on the Brooklyn Beer Bar crawl this Memorial Day weekend. Barcade is huge, it's massive interior feels like a warehouse. It's dimly lit in here, almost to the point where it was too much. The focus is on two things: the cool video games and the beer selection. It's truly a great concept.
As far as the video games go, they have some good stuff. Donkey Kong, Tetris, Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Ms. Pac Man, Arkanoid, Star Wars, and many more. I haven't seen these games in many years and it brought me back to my youth.
The draught selection here is really good. Things started getting a little fuzzy at this point in the evening, but some highlights included Dogfish Head Aprihop, Rogue, Long Trail and other great options. Check the website for an updated draft listing at http://www.barcadebrooklyn.com. One of the bartenders was actually one of guys in the American Beer documentary.
The feel was a little grimy and unkempt. It was pretty dark in there too. It was a struggle to see the tap handles. Service was solid and responsive. The old video games would often freeze or not play properly and that was a little frustrating. Barcade is an original beer bar with a great idea behind it. Worth checking out if in the area.

What can I say - a real shit hole from the street. However, wondrous things await once inside.
The interior was insane - think dark 1980s roller rink, complete with hodgepodged furniture and throwback video games - about 25 in total.
The bar itself was long and the seating consisted of a mishmash of barstools, all of which were way to short for the bar. I felt like a little kid in need of a high chair. But hey, as long as I wasn't the only one - who cares.
The draft list was extensive and featured some selections that were new to me.
Overall a good vibe.

This place is amazing.
Old warehouse type building, long and dark with a bar on the right when you walk in, and the walls are lined with about 30 vIntage stand up arcade games. I saw Q-Bert, Frogger, Robotron, Tapper, among others.
Quality of beers was very good. Saw Sixpoint, Founders, quite a few New Holland (must have had an event for their beers recently) and other fine craft offerings.
Service was prompt and friendly.
Selection was nice, about 30 quality and varied taps.
No food except some snack stuff.
Overall, a great place for beers, and if you like old video games then it's just icing on the cake. Loved this place.

This is a niche place but it is a really cool place to chill. Like most places in Brooklyn it doesn't have a TV or anything to chill and watch a game, but it has plenty of games (terrible joke). There are about 20 arcade games from way back in the day before Nintendo and spent some quarters/hours playing Ms. Pac-Man, Punchout, Frogger...and oh yeah, had some g reat beer as well. Mostly local and American micros, they serve good beer and some hard to find beers on tap. Not a huge import selection and I don't think they have many (if any) bottles, but there are beers here like seasonals and limited releases that will guarantee that you'll have a few new ones to try.

I have visited Barcade numerous times over the years since they opened - in fact, I celebrated a birthday and my bachelor party there shortly after they first opened and have continued to visit at least once or twice each year since then... Not exactly in my neighborhood so I only visit when I'm close by (the Barcade in Jersey City is much closer for me and easier to commute to). I love the vibe - good craft beer, reasonable prices, and 1980s arcade games...lots of nostalgia factor for me here.
The beers are generally well poured into proper glassware for the style and served with an appropriate amount of head. Beers seem to turn over fairly quickly so I have never had a beer that did not taste fresh and with the number of different events they host, it changes a lot.
For the most part, the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about the beers.
One of the things I like best about the selection is that it is kept up to date on the website so I know what is going to be available when I head to Barcade - they usually have a pretty good selection across a number of different styles and I seem to always find something that I enjoy.
I have only had the chips/pretzels/jerky when I have been here so I am not going to rate the food.
Prices are reasonable.

Freakin' fantastic old school joint! Awesome selection of arcade games from my youth line the walls. We were here on a Sat. evening ~ night and it was a bit crowded. Don't be fooled by the outside of the place....it kinda looked like a squatters drug den when we first came upon it. Look at the ground and if you see the sign, then your at the right place. What I remember of the selection was very good. We didn't have much of a problem getting our beers for it being a Sat. night. There weren't many seats available, but you'll spend a lot of the time standing at the games anyway. Great spot that I would like to hit again. Oh, and next time it won't be the fifth stop of the day!

Let's note that the area that Barcade is located is a bit shady ... I swear I heard someone scream out "Warriors come out and Play-ayyy!" before we entered. Barebones garage / warehouse look, lots of vintage video games ... awesome touch by having 2-by-4's in-between each game to rest your beer on. About 24 brewed on tap with one cider ... all are American craft, one cask within the mix. Some specials on as well; Heavyweight Cinged Hammer, Southampton Grand Cru & Blue Point Imp Stout on cask. Most were from the Mid-Atlantic and New England.
By far the most interesting concept for a beer bar I have ever seen, video games and great beer ... what else could you ask for!!!
