Enjoyed 24 November 2011, reviewed from notes.
Pours a clear, slightly coppery medium brown, with a small amount of off-white head that faded fast and left a bit of lacing.
Smell is rather weak. What's there is brown sugar and woody malts. Nice caramel sweetness, though rather thin. It's similar to the taste, just lacking in potency.
Taste is similar to the smell, but more robust. Has a really nice solid malt flavor, which I'd described as sugary, woody, and grainy, in that order. Sweet but not heavy. A little hop tingle helps to keep things light.
Medium-light body, on the light side. Medium-high carbonation. Fade-away finish.
Quite a tasty brown ale. Definitely on the sweet side and light-bodied for a brown ale, but really good. I like it.

Draught @ Opa-Opa. This one pours a dark brow, yet is still clear and can be seen through. There was a small tan head that left minimal lacing. It has a lighter aroma. Some nuttiness, a hint of smoke, roasted malt and caramel. The taste is good and very similar. Nutty with just a hint of roastiness. There is a nice balance of malts and hops: the taste is almost neutral on sweet/bitter. Very easy drinking.

I bought a growler of this at a liquor store near work having noticed it in the past but never bothering to try it until now. I must say I am very impressed. Very smooth body, perfect level of carbonation and just a very full, delightful flavor. No bitter or otherwise unpleasant aftertaste. I like the fact that you can purchase this beer (as well as many other Opa Opa beers) in growlers at liquor shops. I guess they realized their customers are going to want large quantities of this excellent stuff to enjoy.

L: Pours a nice brown/amber color with a tall and medium bodied tan colored head that laces the glass nicely on the way down.
S: Smells of very sweet roasted malts, some hops, and then some nuttyness at the end of it.
T: Tastes very similar to the nose with more pronounced nut flavors and less pronounced hop flavors.
M: Very sweet, clean, crisp, fresh, with the right amount of carbonation.
D: Very drinkable beer and the growler was easy and enjoyable to finish.

Served from a growler at the Table and Vine tasting. The drink had a dark brown look with a creamy, light brown head and lacing. Slightly smoky mocha and malts were dominant in the smell department. The taste had another dimension of smoky flavors with a more nutty and hoppy aspect. Solid, heavy body; great for a brown ale. Overall, this one was pretty good.

Gots to generally agree with tres hombres before me, this is a malty brew, very nice malty brew in fact, with a marginal hop profile. Pretty much what I think of when I (rarely!) think of a brown ale. Nonetheless, umma likin' it. Nice round full aftertaste. Rarely go fer browns, but I'll buy this one again. Changeup from the hoppy stuff I love.
And with the hop drought fer the next coupla years, reckon brew like this could be more commonplace and affordable. Just sayin'.

On tap at the brewpub, one of their better ones in an inconsistent lineup, in that it was good for its style. All-malt, and that's in the aroma. Lots of lace, brown body with a white/mocha head, and creamy.Chai cocoa in there. Drying aftertaste. Not a bad pint, as almost a dessert with the porter.

German-style refillable growler filled at the brewpub yesterday.
First imperial pint pours with a 1/2" tan head, which faded at a reasonable pace, and lasting sticky lace. Brew is clear brown, with an aroma of rich grains and chocolate. Taste starts with the same maltiness, then balanced and possibly overcome by generic hoppy bitterness, yet the aftertaste lets the grain revisit. Mouthfeel is perhaps a bit thin, and drinkability is quite easy. Glad I finally got around to checking this one out.
