L: Pours a nice clear orange-copper color with a short medium bodied white colored head that laces the glass a bit on the way down.
S: Smells of sweet roasted malts, hints of oak, vanilla, and nice scotch.
T: Tastes of sweet roasted malts, caramel, oak, vanilla, and a nice scotch aftertaste. Really nice flavors to this one.
M: Rich, smooth, medium bodied, perfect amount of carbonation, warming.
D: Overall a really nice beer, smooth flavors and feel with a decent abv make it one to savor.

A 330ml clear glass bottle with a BB of Dec 2012, so it's somewhat out of date. Acquired a while back from Trembling Madness in York. Comes in a fancy box, which will hopefully have kept the light away. A limited edition brew aged in 18 year old Scotch whisky casks for 69 days.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A bright coppery-amber hue with good clarity and medium carbonation. Forms a small head of frothy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before disappearing. Aroma of fruity malt with notes of dried fruit, caramel/toffee, oak, brown sugar, mild roastted grain, vanilla and a subtle hint of whisky. A warming whiff of alcohol in the background.
Tastes of caramel malt with a rich, fruity character and a mild finish. Notes of dried fruit, caramel/toffee, brown sugar, oak/wood, mild vanilla, faint roasted grain, delicate hints of whisky and understated stewed hops. A touch of boozy warmth in the background. Attenuated and quite complex, but with little bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and decen body. Could feel a shade more substantial to match its strength. Mildly astringent, with an aftertaste of fruity malt, oak and faint sweetness.
Another barrel-aged oddity from I&G. Could look better; the aroma/flavour are alright but nothing special given the treatment this beer has received. Body could be thicker. A decent beer but not amazing - their brews often seem to have an overdose of oak and a weak beer base that results in an unbalanced concoction. Darker malt might have improved this one. At any rate, drinkable but no need to seek it out.

Appearance: Brilliant clarity with a caramel/amber hue. Pour resulted in a one finger off-white head that has since dissipated to a thin film.
Aroma: Blast of malt sweetness and a bit of skunk due to the clear bottle. Almost smells like an amber lager at first. Digging a little deeper you get the soft vanilla and caramel aromas of scotch.
Taste: Lots of toffee syrupy sweetness up front and then a lovely vanilla and cream flavor comes through. The finish is effortlessly smooth and leaves a caramel sweetness on the palate. Hardly bitter and no hop presence. Don't taste any of the 7.1% ABV but overtime there is a bit of heat in the throat. The only drawback is the slight skunky flavor.
Mouthfeel: Just above medium in body and a little syrupy. Smooth carbonation and average drinkability.
Final Thoughts: Innis & Gunn should seriously consider using dark bottles to reduce the skunking that ruins the beer. This beer is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. Would I drink it again? Probably not, but I doubt I could even get my hands on another bottle.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with ample white head, but poor retention. Aroma is of caramel, oak, vanilla and whisky, but not boozy. Also a bit of fruity ester. Appealing nose for sure. Taste follows with caramel, vanilla, oak whisky. Again a bit sweet for my liking. Mouthfeel is smooth and slick, and the alcohol is well hidden. Overall a good beer, but the lack of head and the unbalanced sweetness hold it back.

Got another one of these in the Christmas gift pack. Better, though not great.
Nose has light scotch notes with the buttery / butyric still there. No oak o scotch character in the body, rather the flavour is once again buttery with a hint of butyric in there. Wow.

Carton labelled BB Dec, 2011. Not too far off. I believe this was received in trade via tbeckett, Thanks, I guess.
Poured into a perfect pint glass at around 5C
A: Pours pale straw with minimal head. Minimal lacing.
S: Corn, a hint of scotch.
T: A moment of sweet corn in the malt, and then, bam! Vomit. Feck. Gaddammed butyric infection. Really strong too. Awful. Brutal.
M: The butyric lingers forever.
O: A very, very rare drainpour for me. I couldn't choke this down with my roasted chicken dinner...

Two finger thick head with some retention on a clear copper body. Burnt caramel, rum, molasses and breads for aroma with the flavor less sweet than expected forthw aroma with caramel, whiskey, sweet corn, molasses and earthy hops. Smooth, medium body and light to moderate carbonation. Smooth, full flavored and well applied base beer to the aging process as is the case with many of the I and G beers which they are definitely great at doing.

This is possible the best non-stout oak aged beer i've ever tasted. Apperance is a very nice dark copper color. Aroma is pure oak straight out of the woods with a hint of whiskey. Taste is amazing, again oak is there. Very smooth and enjoyable. ABV at 7% is just right. A bit higher ABV and this may be a truly awesome beer.
