Really nice beer... this seems like a cross between a blonde bier de garde and a saison more than it does a BSPA.... or more accurately: it seems like it stems from a culture less enthused about categories :)

Picked this one up on my trip to Paris.

Pours a brilliant pale copper, slightly hazy (a bit of yeast may have made its way in, but it wasn't perfectly clear to begin with). Extremely effervescent, three or four fingers of head that falls back fairly quickly, leaving a tenacious bit at the top. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is fantastic... pear and banana notes up front with a bit of back end spice, a bit of pepper and cotton candy. Rich and a bit spicy, there seems to be a bit of funk and grapefruit as well.

Taste is a bit of surprise.... it's tangy, first of all. It's dry, medium to light bodied, and lacking in malt sweetness and fullness through the middle. Esters are nice, a bit of warm spice. It's just a bit flat, and it seems like some wild yeast notes have really gone a bit too far.

Despite that, carbonation seems right, and it's appropriately lighter in body without being too thin in feel.

Easy to throw back, just wish there was more to it.

Bottle tried purchased 2/28/13 at Buzz in downtown Los Angeles and reads 5.5% abv, not 7.5% as here listed.

Pours a hazy light amber orange with a fast fading white head. Nothing special in the "looks" department.

Nose is rich with assertive fruit esters, light "unripe" orange tones and hints of lemon; hints of sour; fresh and very inviting nose.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied to creamy with light champagne type, small bubble carbonation and a wonderful balance.

Flavors are yeasty white bread with white pepper, hints of sweet celery and light green apple tones. Pleasant unripe banana character and hints of pleasant green stone fruit but pleasant and complex and layered. Flavor profile is complex and one of the nicest I've had!

I'd never heard of this brewery or beer before purchasing it. It is like a Berliner Weisse meets saison and is nice to drink by itself but is a fantastic food beer.

Finish is yeasty with hints of pepper, white pepper, sage and other green herbs, but not dull or bitter. Lots of layers in flavor and finish. This could replace a lot of wine on my dinner table! as well as be a refreshing drink on its own.

A-medium amber color with an off-white head and some lacing

S-malt, yeast, citrus, banana, slight caramel

T-yeasty funk with malt, banana, slight grapefruit and hint of sweetness followed by a slight funky aftertaste

F-medium body with moderate carbonation, smooth and almost creamy

O-an interesting ale with some decent flavors, but a little bit of an awkward aftertaste

5.5% on-tap into a chalice

A: Clouded tan, tellow with a thin head and no lacing

S: With a floral, sugar and grassy smell it brings to mind a riverside in bloom, fresh and sweeping but yeasty like a bakery across the street making morning breads.

T: She starts with a rush of wicked tang then a mild sweet and sour finish with neglects the wild grassy fruit we were promised while browsing the smells.

M: Medium body and a slick coating on the mouth

O: Smells lovely and fresh but the soggy bread, fermented grain sour notes are off putting and stay on the palate. The water is very evident in the smell, body and taste, likely that they use the water from the nearby river as everything about the beer dances with it's name sake.

The head is quite lasting, fading with glittering bubbles who remind me of camera flashes for the final of the 100m in the Olympic games. It gets nicely smooth and creamy on a greatly hazy orange yellow color body. The smell is quite powerful, I didn't have to sink my nose in the glass to get a feeling. Very yeasty and fresh. fruity with citrus but also sweet peaches and hints of bananas, it also shows some peppery and interestingly hoppy notes.
The taste is in the same vein too, very pleasing and fitting very well into the style. Fruity and sweet at first, with fresh yeasty notes, it gets more citric and almost tart with a spiced flavor and a nicely subdued hoppy thickness in the finish. Mouthfeel is great, creamy and as full in the mouth as one could expect. So smooth it's a bit like drinking silk. The high abv, hidden at first, gets noticeable after a while, and this aspect might be the beer's real weakness. Still, this a good surprize from this until now unknown brewery.
