Deep black color with a caramel thin head that disappeared quickly just leaving a ring.
Sweet aroma of caramel, toasted malts and coffee.
Taste follows nose, additionally I could identify some hopes and just a tiny bit of condiments and minerals. Dry aftertaste and mildly bitter with lingering tones of dark chocolate.
Light body with good carbonation.
This one was better than what I remember of my last experience with this beer. A bit thin but with good drinkability, though Schwarzbiers aren’t that robust anyway. Also it wasn’t as sweet as some local Malzbiers are. Good cost benefit.

500ml bottle served in a mug.
A: Pours a brown to amber color forming a small bubbled tan head that dissipates quickly leaving almost no lacings
S: Roasted malts
T: Roasted malts. Very watery. Sweet upfront. Dry in overall. End is slightly roasted bitter
M: Light and very watery body. High carbonation
O: Low drinkability. A Schwarzbier with no character. Really disappointing

Poured into a pilsner glass out of a 355ml bottle. Freshness date is listed as "03/11/12/."
Appearance is dark, filled with a murkiness that makes it impossible to see through the glass. There's a small creamy head visible, as well as substantial carbonation. Doesn't look too bad.
Smells of roasted malts with some coffee, darkened chocolate, as well as some light blackberries. Neverthless, there's a strange smell lurking beneath all of these delightful varieties. Some kind of strong, grainy aroma that makes everything feel a little off, if not sadly unbalanced.
This beer completely throws itself off of a cliff when it comes to flavor and body, however. It starts with a sweetened maltiness, feels creamy and full, and then proceeds to end up in an astringent, unpleasant aftertaste. It's wholly remarkable how progressively bad this beer comes with each new sip. There's a burnt backdrop to highten the mood, and then a thinness that dazzles itself through to quickly throw everything off balance. If that doesn't make things any worse, the coffee notes dispel and are replaced by rotten, sulfurous, yeasty notes.
A uncomfortable drinking experience, to say the very least. This could be used as a winter warmer for masochists who don't mind a terrible drinking experience in order to warm their faces up successfully. The first beer I've had since PBR that I couldn't bring myself to drink more than 3 ounces. A definite drainpour. Yikes.
