A dry Irish style stout made with a touch of Rye Malt for a refreshing astringency which is easy on the palate.

Aroma: The aroma is mild roast malt and ale yeast with a hint of rye spiciness.
Appearance: Hugh rocky head, greater than two inches, I had to slow my pour to get it all in my glass. Light brown head lingers into nice lacing. The color is very dark brown with hints of garnet.
Flavor: The flavor is mild roast malt enhanced with the dryness from the rye. The bitterness is medium and doesn’t interfere with the dry stout flavor profile. The roast flavor lingers, but not in a bad way for a stout.
Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel is light, typical of a session beer.
Overall Impression: This is a dry Irish stout, a full flavored session beer. The rye malt gives this beer an added dimension that enhances a dry stout. There is nothing spectacular about this beer, but it falls short on nothing. This beer covers all the bases for a very good dry Irish stout. It is a really good beer for food and just spending the evening drinking with friends.
Comments: The rye malt really adds an interesting addition to the beer. Depot Street Brewing has done a great job of resisting the temptation to brew an overly bitter beer like most American microbrewers do. The result is a really good dry Irish stout that is true to style with an added dimension that doesn’t distract from the base style of the beer. A job well done Depot Street Brewing!

Pours near black with just a hint of brown around the edges. 1-finger of cream head with no retention and very little lace.
Nose lets you know there is some rye here. Light roast malt, light chocolate malt, but mostly rye.
Taste is pretty decent. Thin hit, but chocolate malt and rye combine for a bitter sweet middle. Not much hop presence, and finishes very dry.
Feel is a bit on the thin side, but appropriate for the style.
If the rye dryness doesn't get to you, you could drink more than one of these.

Pours a brown-black with to much head that slowly settles to a thin cap with plenty of lacing. Faint rye and chocolate aroma. Taste follows nose. Over carbonated, and on the thin side, but enjoyable.

A: Pours dark brown with a very very light brown head. Carbonation is insane, glass is 90% head with a moderate pour. Fades slowly, leaving on a smattering of lacing on the glass.
S: Lots of rye for sure. Just the lightest hint of roasted malt.
T: Rye up front and then turns into a very dry irish stout. Touch of roasted malt with a bit of creaminess. A bit of caramel and smoke in there too. Very drying on the back end.
M: Carbonation is ridiculously too high and really detracts from the flavor and the experience in general. Also makes it seem lighter than it already is, and it's already pretty light!
O: Honestly not a bad brew, just very simple and the carbonation brings it down a few notches. With correct carbonation it would be pretty decent, actually.

12oz bottle into a pint glass. No freshness date.
Pours jet black with a nice frothy 2 finger head. Decent head retention and lacing.
The smell is roasted malt as well as some smoke. There is also a slight sweetness as well.
First of whoa.. is this over carbonated. I don't know if I just got an old bottle or what but with the brewery being right down the street I doubt that is the case. The extreme carb. really drowns out the other flavors. I can still pick up the roastiness and the smoke but it all seems muddled.
I've had this beer before and remember it being decent. I might need to revisit this sometime.

I have had this beer twice now at a German restaurant in Johnson City. I was blown away when I pared it with sauerbraten, as the rye and dry taste complemented the meal very well.
I tried it again with jaeger schnitzel, not so great of a paring. The beer overrode the flavors of the food and left a sticky mouth feel after finishing the large mug.
I will be having this again as the flavor is great, but with food that will stand up to this stout.
