Was able to visit and sample a few beers and some food be fore we headed to another beer fest. I sampled three beers, their Black Forest Pils, Diabolical Double Belgian Style Ale and the Cask version of their Black Seal Vanilla Stout; see my reviews for details
Beer was served in pint room temperature glasses, by staff that seemed knowledgeable, quite friendly and we were served quickly, which is always a plus to me. The food we had Nachos, was quite good, and the portion generous, good selection of beer, fine food menu, nice atmosphere and a good staff, should make for a good visit, and Id say it was worth my time.

I've tried this place a few times in hopes that it will get better and it never does. It is AVERAGE!!!
The atmosphere is basic. The outside patio area is nice in the evening. The location is great. Many things to do and places to go in this area of Long Beach. Even many other places with beer.
The beers were average. I had a Pale Ale and was not impressed. My friend had a Lager and he ejoyed it. Other beers I have had from Rock Bottom just have not done much to satisfy my palate. This company makes a lot of beers but many were not available. The selection is good but not great. I ate the ahi salad and I thought is was pretty good. The girls had some chicken dish with gravy all over it and they both were unimpressed. One friend had a salad and he thought it was alright and another had the fish tacos and enjoyed them. Again we come to average.
The best part about the establishment was the service. Our waitress worked hard, had a great personality and was very attentive to our needs.
I don't know if I will keep trying. Probably not.

Well, this is not one of my favorite spots for beer, especially when there are a few other options nearby. However, I am guilty of making my periodic stops into this place.
There is an outside patio that is on the street and facing south, which is great early evening spot. The place feels relaxed. The service is friendly. Plus, it's at the very south end of Pine Ave, which is Long Beach's gem for the nightlife.
The food is interesting. I've never had a wing sauce like their chicken wing sauce. The hickory burger my lady absolutely loves (I enjoyed my bite). It's too bad I couldn't pair the food with a more tasty beer.
Rock Bottom is a great description of their beer. I wouldn't recommend their beer. if you're planning a trip into Long Beach, this is an ideal spot to go. It's less than a block from the major transit center in Long Beach, and there is a free shuttle which will take you to Shoreline Village (where another beer spot is). Don't bother planning special trips just to go here. I would only recommend this place as an incidental spot along the way if you're doing other things in Long Beach.

so i get off the train and turn the corner and hey look, its a rock bottom. i will have to drink. i go in, and basically looks like every other rock bottom i have been in. the food is pretty good, got the hickory burger, i would recommend. had the angry dragon, a fruity, malty triple bock. enjoyed very much. all in all the beer that the group tasted was pretty solid. good time.

Easy to find, right at the end of Pine Avenue, on the corner of Ocean Boulevard, the RBB-LB sits in the shadow of the Wells Fargo Bank Tower. Part of a large Chain(RB Mug Club Cards accepted), but is does not suffer it's own character at all because of this. A large L-shaped building, the brewery is visible to the right as you enter from Ocean Blvd. A wide ranging choice of 6 regular beers, is nearly always complemented by a RBB Special. Two English Hand-Pumps on the Bar dispense one or two of the RBB beers in cask-conditioned form. Thats Rare !! Service is good and the Food is very good, the Salmon Fish & Chips is different. The Brewer, Chris Boggess, is a very knowledgable chap who often holds beer tasting nights and organises frequent beer/sporting trips. It has been my "local" since moving from England to Long Beach in Sept. 2001. and I recommended it.
