On tap at the brewery. I disagree with the listing of it on here, its fairly plainly an Irish Dry stout. Dark brown, not solid black like you'd expect. Smells roasty, tastes roasty. Creamy nitro-tap mouthfeel. Drinks very easy. Little to no noticeable hop presence in aroma or taste.

On-tap at the brewery as part of a flight.
Very dark brown that lets very little light through, fun to watch nitro action. Creamy tan-colored head that leaves lots of creamy cling behind. Normal roasted malt profile in smell and taste. Taste is a bit watery and nitro gives it a creamy flatness.
Above average nitro stout.

nitro stout on tap at Pisgah Brewery.
A - black with a creamy tab head. Looks like a model for the style.
Aroma - pleasant but light and fairly simple aroma of dark roasted malt.
T - plenty of dark roasted malt flavor with a touch of hops. There's a bit of burnt grain and smokiness too. Mildly bitter and slightly sour. There is a hint of coffee in the slightly dry finish.
M - creamy smooth, with a rather light body (like Guinness).
O - more flavorful American version of an Irish stout.

On nitro-tap at Duckworths in Charlotte, served in a pint glass
The beer is very dark, alomost black with a ton of tight bubbles creating that beautiful cascade effect. About a fingers worth of dense, tan, creamy head that seems to coat the glass as it goes down.
The nose is light and mild with roasted malts, coffee, and just the slightest hint of chocolate. As the beer warms the aroma gets just slightly sweeter, and the hops become just barely noticable for the first time.
The flavor is roasted malts and coffee with a very faint hint of chocolate. It's medium bodied, with a creamy, silky smooth mouthfeel. The beer finishes very dry and is extremely drinkable.
Overall this is a really nice dry stout. Really drinkable and full of flavor.

Just an A+ brew. We had this a few weeks ago when visiting the brewery. The appearance was like a pitch black night, the head was a Guiness like memory foam bed of smelly goodness! It was so smooth I thought I was in the midst of "The Most Interesting Man in the World" dropping a pick-up-line on a new woman! to a point....yum. Everything we tried at Pisgah was a masterpiece.

Served from nitro-tap into a sampler shaker. Poured pitch black with a hint of brown with a one finger off-white (slightly light tan) head. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of roasted malt, cream, coffee, and caramel. The flavor was of roasted malt, cream, coffee, and slight dark chocolate. It had a light feel on the palate with low carbonation. Overall this one was very surprising to me. It had really nice flavors to it, but it seemed like they were very weak. Just wish they were more pronounced to allow this one to shine through. This one is definitely worth having if you find it.

A perfect pour. Thick cream head sits atop a nearly opaque black liquid. Thick lace forms on all sides of the glass.
Coffee, roast malt, faint anise, and mocha all come streaming off the top of the glass.
Smokey roasted coffee flavor all the way through. Sweet chocolate comes through in the middle and finish, though the finish is really dominated by a sharp hop and chocolate bite.
Feel could be just a bit thicker with all that roast flavor.
One of the best stouts I have had all year.

On tap at the French Broad Chocolate Lounge in Asheville,NC.Poured jet black with a cascading creamy tan colored head,Iam a sucker for a good nitro pour, creamy looking goodness.Roasty aromas with a tinge of bitter chocolate, and coffee.Mouthfeel is a bit light going down,to me this is an Irish dry stout hands down, uber roasty, with big coffee flavors, light bitter chocolate, and a tinny flavor in the finish. It went great with a Highland Black Mocha Stout cake,a nice beer under the wrong category I think.

On nitro-tap at Barley's in Asheville, NC on 11/27/09.
A - Beautiful nitro pour with dark burgundy and chestnut brown hues and one finger of creamy, milky caramel-colored head that retained amazingly and yielded a wall of sheet-like lacing all down the sides of the glass.
S - Subtle nose with lightly roasted malt and a hint of coffee, followed by mild chocolate and woody notes. Sweet lactic notes opened up as the liquid warmed.
T - Opens with a mild roasted malt character with sweet, milky notes as well as a hint of chocolate and coffee. Vanilla notes also emerged as it warmed up. A hint of nutty astringency made a bried appearance in the middle, followed by subtle earthy and herbal bitter notes in the finish.
M - Medium bodied with a smooth, velvety texture, although somewhat thin and watery overall. Dry finish with subtle bitterness and a hint of sweetness on the palate.
D - Irish stout with a milky, chocolate flair that blends dry and sweet flavors quite nicely. This is a fine example of a nitrogen dispensed stout.

Consumed at Ed Boudreaux's Bayou Bar B Que in downtown Asheville, NC.
Dark brown pour, practically black. Nice creamy white head. The glass is eventually covered in some very nice lacing.
Lighter aroma than I was anticipating. Roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee. Lightly smoky.
Flavor pretty much follows the aroma. Slightly sweet, slightly roasty. Dry, burnt finish.
Medium bodied. Excellent silky texture. Very creamy, pretty easy drinker.

Had this on tap at the brewery. The bartender recommended it to me as a 'starter' before moving my way up to the higher ABV offerings.
A- Pours a nice black with a good two finger head. There was very nice cling to the glass and alot of carbonation activity present after the pour.
S- Small roast signatures present, but nothing that overwhelms the nose.
T- Good malt flavor present in the begining. The beer finishes a little dry.
I had this on nitro-tap at the brewery and hope to have it again. This is a solid stout and a nice offering from Pisgah. Even though I was really looking forward to some of the other stuff they had on tap this was a nice beer. I would definitely have this again. A very good session beer.

Served on draft at Westville Pub, Asheville, NC.
Pours a very dark, purple black color with ruby highlights. The nitro makes this look gorgeous. It is so creamy looking. Creamy tan head tops the beer.
Aroma was a touch fruity with some roastiness, though not overly roasty.
Very nice flavor. The roast is subdued, almost porter like. Very creamy and somewhat light. The body is a touch thin, especially for anitro tap. A little watery as well.
Very easy to drink and look at. A very solid beer.
