Pours a lightly hazy orange-ish to yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, spicy, notes of ginger and cinnamon. In the taste, dry spiciness and a tangy ginger run the whole show. A spice bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry cinnamon like spice in the aftertaste. Nice spices, quite complex with the ginger.

From 750 mL bottle to tulip glass
A: Pours a pretty orange-amber in color, slightly opaque, and forms a 1-inch, tightly-bubbled head. Little patches of lacing remain on a gentle twirl.
S: Scents of ripened fruit, honey and ginger are immediately apparent, backed by lingering tones of freshly baked bread and pastries. A trace amount of alcohol is noted.
T: The honey-ginger jump out front, largely because of their contrast with the fruity esters of the Belgian yeast. Earthy, chewy malt-tones balance the flavors and work to subtly dry the profile. Some spice and citrus tones fall out, orange and lemon-pepper. Finishes on the sweet side of the palate.
M: Fairly viscous for the style, a little oily. Could use a touch more carbonation to balance the complexion.
I liked this beer more than I expected. Some of these experimental brews barely work, and are more interesting than delicious, but the ginger worked well with the inherently sweet aspects of brew.

Poured into snifter glass.
A - Poured slightly hazy golden color with big off white head that quickly dissipated leaving average lacing around the glass.
S - Malts, some fruits and spices.
T - Malts dominate with slight brown sugar sweetness. Has a slightly spicy bitter hops finish.
M - Medium bodied with high carbonation.
O - Good BSPA that represents its style very weill. I would recommend it.

Poured from a 750ml corked and caged bottle into a tulip glass. "Bottled in 2011" lasered on neck. Got within week of latest shipment hitting TX so it's fresh. Poured a slightly hazy orange amber with good carb streams. It had an average sized white head that settled into a thick collar with central foam from the etching. Good sheeting with some sticking.
The aroma was pretty much ginger with a few other spices in the back. The taste follows the aroma and is all ginger with a little pepper and spicy yeast but very one-dimensional. I like ginger but this needs a little something else to make it more interesting. The story on the label says " has a hint of ginger". BS - way more than a hint. Mouthfeel was lighter with good carbonation.
Overall, a disappointment. The promised hint of ginged sounded good but this was a ginger bomb. Finished the glass but not the bottle. Avail here in TX. Rotation - one was enough [N;N]

A: A clear gold color with a thick white head that leaves sheets of lacing down the glass.
S: Belgian spice, clove and ginger.
T: The spice kicks in right up front with a clove and ginger flavor and there is also a little bit of a grain flavor in there. A little bit of fruity ester. Alcohol is noticable in the finish.
M: Medium body and a medium-low carbonation. Makes it pretty drinkable.
O: Good beer. A nice belgian pale ale that has a good bit of flavor.

Poured from a bottle into a snifter, the beer is a bright, vibrant, hazy, orange-copper coloring with a good, frothy, half inch, bright white head that fizzles down into a chunky, uneven film. Very light aromas of ginger and citrus, with some spiced highlights that my nose just can't completely pick out (a little coriander). The beer is rich in flavor, yet light. Good spicing to balance a light yet deliberate sweetness. Ginger once again, with coriander and a very light clove spicing. Very light, yet leaving a very decent lacing along the glass. Crisp flavors, and very well blended overall. The aftertaste is a slight and faint spice and herb flavor, with a very minimal, sweet, and slightly slick finish. Tasty and unique brew.

From 750mL bottle to Bruges hybrid glass on 10/14/11
*From notes
A: Unfiltered apple cider golden. A standard pour yields a lovely two finger white head and top shelf lacing.
S: Orange and ginger dominate the bouquet.
T: Very, very gingery up front. Grapefruit rind appears on the mid, and the finish has an off-putting diet soda vibe going on, as it tastes like Splenda.
M: A bit overcarbed. Slightly oily.
O: DFH's Pangaea is one odd little brew. I'm glad to have tried it, and even happier that Dogfish is willing to put their balls out there and create something like this. All in all though, I don't foresee myself returning to it.

750 ml bottle split wih a buddy last night watching some hockey. Poured into a Hoppin' Frog pint glass...
A - Poured a slightly hazy, murky orange color. Eggshell white head forms and slowly recedes to a cap of the same color.
S - Lots of ginger in the nose with some caramel malt and brown sugar. Belgian yeast comes out as well. Really ginger forward.
T - Sweet ginger and malts mixed with some Belgian yeast. Brown sugar and caramel come through as well. The ginger seems more subdued on the palate than on the nose. Not as exciting as I was hoping for.
M - Light to medium bodied beer. Slightly creamy body and a good amount of carbonation.
O - I think the concept of this beer was awesome. Unfortunately, a lot of that didn't really translate to the taste. Good offering from Sam, but not one I will revisit soon.

From notes on 10/16/11:
Bottled: 2011 101; Poured in a snifter.
A - Nice, deep amber color with a semi-hazy appearance; Two inch off-white head that lasts a few minutes; Patchy lacing
S - Not an overpowering aroma; Slightly sweet, spicy, and bread-like notes
T - Instantly taste a little sugar with a healthy dose of ginger spice; Slight taste of rice and cereal afterwards; Spice lasts well after sip; Alcohol hidden well
M - Body seems somewhat light; Goes down very easy; Leaves mouth a little dry and begging for another sip
O - I love the ginger spice that is highlighted in this beer. I think it's a great Autumn beer and very drinkable, but the alcohol can sneak up on you since it's hidden so well. Also appreciated is the creativity to include ingredients from all continents of the world.

I am going to reserve reviewing this for another day, as I was eating while drinking this and couldn't get a good sense of what it was about.
What I did get was nothing on the nose, but a nice flavor. It was kinda cool drinking a beer that has a little bit of something from every corner of the globe.
It was good though :)

A: A medium gold that's pretty nondescript. Definite slight cloudiness reminding me of candied ginger.
S: Pretty bland, but not offensive. Smells better than I just made it sound though.
T: Mmm ginger. The perfect amount. Not too much, not too little. I would love to see a little more, but the balance right now is nice.
M: Actually probably my favorite part of the beer. It sits well on the palate.
O: Good. I'll try it once a year, but I won't be buying multiple bottles.

A: It's pale. What can I say? There is nice lacing to it, but it's thin.
S: I don't get it. People say it smells like ginger. I have a juicer. I've had pure ginger root. This doesn't smell like ginger. It smells like a diner that allows smoking...
T: Pangaea offers all of those perfect Belgian notes. The alcoholic bite, the floral scent, leafy tones. It's just not defined, though. It has that persimmon, back-of-the-throat, dryness to it. Almost like ginger.
M: Pretty much perfect. Decent carbonation. It's very invigorating for a beer. It's not thick. Goes down easy.
OVERALL: Unsettling. Weird. Unsure of defined characteristics. Would not recommend to the average drinker.
NOTE: Live review.

A-Cloudy orange with a two finger head,
S-Ginger, orange peel, lots of spices.
T-Very spice heavy, some malt as well. Hops are not really present though.
M-Light with decent carbonation.
O-Another odd, "off centered" beer fro DFH. It was worth a try but nothing to seek out again and again.

The color of the beer is a almost clear light amber orange gold. A two finger high, creamy off white has good retention and leaves nice lacing.
The smell is of course of Ginger, but I also detect a lot of yeast.
Tasting the beer, the Ginger is probably the leader throughout the tasting. Up front there is also some fruit like white grapes and some spice. In the middle Belgian yeast and a slightly bitter hop at the end bring great balance in this interesting beer approach. Like always, you can count on Dogfish quality.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a redish orange color almost like that of an impreial IPA. A one inch white foam head dissipates quickly down to a light covering. Smells strongly of belgian yeast and ginger. Some other spicy hints as well. It tastes at first like a belgian wheat beer but then finishes smooth and semi-sweet with a light ginger taste. Medium carbonation gives this beer a great mouthfeel. Not overly bitter and yet not overly sweet so good balance. Overall a very good beer. Fairly drinkable and flavorful. The tastes aren't too intense. I would enjoy this during the fall season as the flavors complement it.
Cheers!

Enjoyed this champagne bottle out of large pint glass.
A: Hazy dark golden hue with large 3-finger white head that leaves a great trail all the way down the glasses and ends in a persistence lace.
S: Fruity aroma with Belgian candi, and spicy hops in the background.
T: Bit of a bitter bite at first, then smooths out followed by spicy hops.
O: A little disappointing considering this brew has ingredients from every continent. I was expecting a little bit more from this beer.

Poured from a bomber into my Deschutes tulip...
A - Pours a crystal clear bright orangish yellow, with a thin 1/2 finger white head.
S - Smells fruity and belgian.
T/M - Starts off dry, then hits the palete with a ginger spiciness. Not a trace of hops in here at all. A little warming as it goes down, and a kinda cider-like aftertaste. Light mouthfeel.
O - I'm on the fence with this one. It just seems like Dogfish Head sometimes tries to do too much. The flavors that are supposed to stand out get lost because there are too many of them. I think this one missed the mark.

Orange-yellowish with what I swear is a hint of pink in its color. Beautiful. Smell is fully fruity with ginger mixed in. Couldn't smell a hop. The ginger works better here than what I've tasted elsewhere, and the finish lingers for a long time. Sticky on the 'buds, but not cloying. Nice, but a bit unbalanced, because of the metric-shit-tonne of booze heat. Why? It's only 7%. Maybe some time will fix that. After that, who knows.... Not-a-lotta bubbles, but plenty of the gaseous spheres of tingly delight. And there kinda big. I'll cellar one. And by cellar I mean, I'll put it under the kitchen counter so I'll forget about it and not open it tomorrow night.

A: Nice deep amber with about a one finger head with solid retention
S: Great! Get a bit of herbs and spices much like Midas Touch, but it has a great bit of stank to it as well. A good bitter mustiness
T: A lot like how it smells, spicy, funky, and some earthy bitterness to it. Gets a bit bland at the finish, a bit watery, otherwise perfect
M: Good carbonation and not much alcohol presence. Has a kind of sourness that hits you in the jowls
O: Another solid offering from Dogfish, would love it if this was in greater supply

Served in a goblet w minimal head that left no lacing to speak of.
Yellow appearance, up 2 notches from straw. Tinge of orange.
Nose is ginger and spices, some fruit.
Taste is light and crisp. Banana, orange, fruits, yeast. Ginger dominates but isn't so powerful as to be overdone. Spices as well. Peppery taste at the finish. This beer is sweet like a Belgian.
A nice beer but not an every day drinker. In fact I've had this from time to time as it is interesting, but never ordered two in a row.

750 mL bottle dated 2011 poured into a snifter
A- A clear copper color with a two finger white head, nice lacing.
S- Fruit, apple, pear, yeast, malts, hint of spices, some ginger, very enjoyable.
T- Yeast, banana, earth hops, spices, balanced.
M- Smooth, medium body.
O- This is a nice beer that is enjoyable. Not as unique or stand out as the description makes it sounds. Wish the apple and pear stood out in the taste. Definitely will pick more up soon and can't wait to see how it ages.

On tap at Cole's. Interesting combination. Bannana, clove, chocolate, and spicey sweetness. Very lacey, a tad above medium mouthfeel. Orange body but tastes like somewhat of a dark beer. Worth a try. Good drinkability. Vanilla, smooth, a bit like a top notch saki.

A-pours a hazy dark copper/light amber color with a white frothy head that has superb retention and clings to the side of the glass
S-interesting aroma, its sweet, malty, and a little bit musty
T-light hop bitterness in the beginning that goes into the sweet malt that is slightly toasted and finishes with the ginger on the palate.
M-medium bodied

Very complex Belgian pale ale.
Pours an orange golden color with little head from the 22oz bottle. Smells of the as-advettised ginger, along with an assortment of spices.
The taste claifies those spices, with ginger coming through. Almost jas an Octoberfest / Maizen taste. Sweet and a tad sugary. Some cinnamon as well on the finish.
Nice, diffefent beer that most craft beer lovers will find interesting and enjoyable.
