16oz pour into DFH IPA glass
3/8/13 at the DFH Brewpub
A: Pours out a really deep dark brown, appearing almost black. Can't see through it from what I can tell. I got a nice three fingers worth of tight bubbled medium tan head on this one. Leaves some nice sticky lacing on the sides of the glass.
S: Really nice piney nose on this guy. Amarillo for sure. You also pull that Simcoe as well. Underneath all the hoppy notes you get the hints of chocolate and slight coffee from the malts. Primarily it's the hops though, which I like from my BIPAs.
T: Up front you get that nice piney hop bitterness on the tip of the tongue. It's certainly dominated by that Amarillo from what I am pulling. As it leads to the middle of the mouth, you do pull in some nice creamy chocolate like flavors. It's not aggressively dark bitter chocolate, instead a nice blend of both light and dark. Hints of dark fruit are there, but not as pronounced as described. Finish is dry like a traditional IPA.
M: Medium bodied. Nice mouth coating of hops.
Serving type: on-tap
