A: The beer is hazy copper in color and has a light amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high, dense beige head that died down but has good retention properties and consistently left a thin head covering the surface as well as lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of citrusy hops in the nose—grapefruit seems to stand out in particular. Hints of alcohol are also perceptible.
T: The overall taste is quite bitter, but the flavors of underlying malts are very apparent given the high alcohol content; there notes of alcohol and malty sweetness along with some hints of caramel.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and a bit syrupy and sticky on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. There is lots of alcohol warming throughout the taste, not just in the finish.
O: The beer definitely tastes strong, but a small fraction of the alcohol is masked from the taste and there is enough bitterness to counteract all of the malty sweetness. It’s not a bad sipping beer if you prefer IPAs over barleywines.
