2011 vintage into a DFH signature glass. Reviewed on 7/24/2011.

A - Dark copper/amber body, off-white head that really sticks around. Some nice lacing and retention. 4.0/5

S - Super bitter hops, alcohol. Really strong and intense. 3.0/5

T - Pungent, bitter hop flavor. Lots of sweet malts. Alcoholic twang at the end, but it somehow manages to be drinkable. Syrupy and meaty mouth feel. 4.0/5

O - I equate this to drinking a hop liquer. Very strong and intense, yet smooth and drinkable. It does start to become a bit of a chore to drink this towards the end of the glass though. Definitley worth the experience and high price tag. 3.5/5

2008 vintage into a DFH signature glass. Bottling date of 11/06/08 and reviewed on 7/30/2011.

A - Murky copper/brown body. A slight bit of sludge towards the end of the pour. A tiny khaki head that recedes to some light edging and eventually just legs after a swirl. 3.5/5

S - Sweet malts, raisins, brown sugar and alcohol. The hops have faded and whats left is something that reminds of a toned down version of raison d'extra. 4.5/5

T - The flavor starts off with sweet figs and raisins and a healthy dose of super sweet DFH malt. A bit of spice and alcohol bite rounds it all out. Meaty mouth feel with just the right amount of carbonation. Drinks a lot better than fresh. 4.5/5

O - This beer makes a real 180 with age on it. It transforms from a massively hopped up booze bomb into a mellow yet intense barley wine. Its not overtly complex, but is a really nice sipping beer. A real treat if you enjoy sweeter beers. 4.5/5
