Review from notes. Had on tap in Rehoboth.
A: Served in a snifter, the beer was orange/brown and some red hues. It had a small off-white head on top with little retention or lacing.
S: Plenty of apple in the aroma with a beer of sweet malt, slightly sugary with hints of spice, mostly pepper.
T: The flavor was similar to the aroma, but had a much more pronounced smoky aroma, likely from the peat. Apple, citrus, and plenty of pepper at the end.
M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: An interesting take on the style. Good, but sometimes I just want a "regular" Biere de Garde..

First had:: on tap at DFH brewpub, Rehoboth Beach, DE
Brewpub only, collaboration with Adam Duyle from the Monk's Kettle, if that means anything to you. Brewed with peat smoked malt, green peppercorns, Fifer Orchards Rambo apples, and rye.
Served in a snifter, a slightly hazy chestnut brown color with a thin bubbly white head; minimal retention and a bit of lacing. Aroma was fairly distant, but there were notes of citrus and apple skins, smoky malts with a touch of peaty phenols. Taste was complex yet mellow, starting with a mild peaty malt, a touch phenolic, grassy, citrusy, apple skin, toasted bread, herbal and vegetal hops, leading into a huge peppery spice profile that really came out in the finish and lingered in the aftertaste (and returned with a burp). Nice. Not your typical farmhouse ale by any stretch. Medium mouthfeel, dry and woody, pretty nice overall.
