Appearance: black in color with a nice 3" thick head that lasts a while before settling to a surface foam.
Smell: roasted malts, some fruit sweetness, and a bit of earthy tones comes through to the nose.
Taste: roasted malts, cherries, strong coffee tones, and it is rounded off with a mild pine flavor. Moderate bitterness here.
Mouthfeel: lightly crisp from start to finish. Long lasting aftertaste with this average bodied beer.
Overall: this beer was tasty and easy to quaff. Not overly complex but a bit different than most porters.

Review from notes, consumed at DFH in Rehoboth.
A: Pours black with a one finger tan head on top. Decent retention, leaving a thin cap on top. Moderate lacing.
S: Nice cherry aroma with some pine, chocolate, roasted malt, and a little bit of coffee.
T: Some chocolate and cherry, a little bit of pine, and some smoke underneath it all.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Again, a little smoky, slightly dry finish.
O: Enjoyable. Liked this one a good bit, nice cherry/chocolate combination, but neither is overpowering. Liked the faint smoke presence.

Had on tap last night at the Rehoboth Beach alehouse. Bar tender didn't know what the style was but it was clear after the first taste that this was an American Stout.
A-black with nice tan head
S-raw wood and coffee. like a rotting cabin, with a hint of cigar. smells amazing!
T-comes in with a great woody and smokey taste of ground coffee. the taste fills the mouth and ends with a great matching after-taste. this is so full flavored and awesome. there's even a small hint of bacon to it.
M-medium creamy carbonation with a slightly dry finish
O-one of the best DFH beers i've ever had. this is amazing on so many levels. they should replace chicory stout with this, and i LOVE chicory stout. so unique. i recommend this. i want them to bottle this. i'll be craving this again and again.

A- Very dark brown, no transparency, thin tan head.
S- Pine, sweet fruit, coffe and roasted malt. Very unique.
T- Coffee comes through the most, some pine, some malt maybe a hint of sweetness.
M- Smooth, well carbonated.
O- Glad I got to try this, like chicory stout, but a more intense flavor with the pine taste and some cherry.
