American Brown Ale
Limited (brewed once).
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.
A brown ale, a bit deeper shade of red than our Raison D'Etre, gently nudged to 7% a.b.v. with beet sugars. Sparingly hopped with Warrior and Liberty hops. The grains we used in the mash include Pils, Wheat, Munich, Coffee, and Crystal.
But it's the 'grain' we add post-fermentation that makes this beer so special!
We started this brew day surfing the Delaware coast with our friends from Maine's own Grain Surfboards. They use sustainably harvested Maine-grown cedar to shape their boards, and we used it to add pungently, resiny, herbal notes to the finished beer.

Poured into a standard pint glass. Reviewed from notes I just found.
This was a very memorable beer. It had a malty sweetness to it with some roast, but the star was the wood. It tasted and smelled like a wood working shop. The cedar smell was very nice. This beer lead me to try more cedar aged beers.
Serving type: on-tap
