Notes:
The 2011 Wet Hop American Summer is our annual fresh hop beer.
We used 50 pounds of fresh Cascade hops picked at their peak flavor and flown in from the hop fields of Washington State. Half of the hops were used in two additions during the boil with the other half used in a quick dip in our makeshift hopback to get that awesome fresh hop flavor.
Grains for the beer included Pilsner malt, Caramel and CaraPils.
Its brewed with an Ale stream with lineage traced back to the famous Burton Ale, a beer brewed only for special employee gifts at the Ballentine Brewing Company.

Had on tap at DFH in Rehoboth.
A: Poured a very hazy copper color with a small white head on top. Not much retention with very little bits of lacing forming and dissipating just as quickly on the sides.
S: Light citrus, grapefruit, and a good bit of floral hops. There is a little bit of pine and some pale malt.
T: Lots of grapefruit on the flavor profile. A little on the sweet side, almost candied, but very tropical. Some light caramel malt evens it out a bit. Very fresh with some lingering fruit flavors on the finish.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Drinks smooth with a slightly dry finish.
O: Thought was quite tasty with a rather fresh flavor to it. Getting another one if it is still on tap next time I go to DFH.

This is a fantastic summer beer. Had a draft at the Dogfish Head restaurant in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Pours a golden bright orange color resembling a lager or lighter beer. The smell, however, is anything but light. Rush of aroma, flowers and sun, and a bountiful amount of hops, which was somewhat surprising.
Reminded me of Sam Adams' summer ale, with much more hops. Very nice.

appearance: hazy pale copper-orange in color with a 1 finger head
smell: mostly a hop presence
taste: a mildly hoppy pale ale, a decent malt backbone to uphold the hops
mouthfeel: mild carbonation, medium body
overall: average beer, nothing over the top, but love the idea of the fresh hop brew
cheers
