Notes:
For our first new 12-ounce 4-packs in nearly half a decade, we replaced the classic barley foundation of beer with a mild sorghum base. The hints of molasses and pit-fruit are balanced by vibrant strawberry notes and a unique complexity that comes with the addition of a malty buckwheat honey.
We believe health-conscious beer drinkers and the millions of Americans who suffer from Celiac disease can cut back on gluten while relishing the distinction and drinkability of this very special brew.

This beer sucks.
I like some of the Dogfish beers, but they shouldn't have released this one. They should be ashamed.
It was honey, strawberry, sure...it just doesn't work. I couldn't wait for it to be over.
I really wouldn't consider this a beer. I appreciate them trying different things, but their testers should have said no to this one.
Sorry, smell, not that good. Taste, not good. Mouthfeel, not good. Overall. ..you guess.

Went out to dinner tonight and Tweason was offered in addition to about 10 other drafts. Decided to try it because I've enjoyed other Dogfish beers, and this was the first time I had seen a gluten free beer was on tap.
color/appearancer: clear orange, some faint suds around the rim
taste: like a red bull that had gone bad. very sweet, medicine taste.
mouthfeel: thin, very low carbonation.
overall: After drinking less than half. I asked our waitress to bring me another of Dogfish's offerings. I requested that she keep the beer on our bill. This is the FIRST time I've not drunk a beer I've ordered even if it was not what I was expecting.
If you have Celiac disease, I recommend to skip this offering. I have not tried other gluten free beers. I will continue to jump at the chance to try Dogfish's beers.

A- Pours a fairly clear bright gold orange color with a pretty foamy white head. Head has pretty good retention and leaves a bit of lacing.
S- A lot of sweetness of the bat. Picking up honey, lemon and strawberries.
T- Tart strawberries make me about fall of the chair. Some grassiness, lemon, more tart and more strawberries.
M- Lighter side of medium in body and carbonation was ok.
O- Not liking this one at all. I'll pass on this one for sure.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a little pinkish tint. It has a small fizzy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film.
The aroma is sweet chemically strawberries and floral honey.
The flavor is a mix of chemical fruitiness and vegetal malts with a cardboardy finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with fizzy carbonation.
Overall, I don't care for it. Weird chemically fruits with lots of off notes. I've had pops that taste more naturally fruity.

I used a wheat beer glass, however the head disappeared quickly leaving only a thin layer of foam on the surface.
A: Pale pinkish color reminded me of watered-down cool-aid when associated with the nose.
S: Strawberry hints are immediate upon opening, and are pleasant - not overpowering.
T: Over-the-top sweetness without being sticky-sweet. This tasted like a low-alcohol wine cooler or spiked cool-aid...not enough carbonation...watery. The hops prevented this from being a total disaster, due to a relatively dry finish for a fruit beer. However I'd prefer a Lindeman's approach to this style.
O: This would be a good introduction to craft beer for the cocktail set or for the ladies. And this beer is undeniably unique ["Profiles in Courage"]. However unless you seek out fruit beers, I would not recommend this. And please don't judge all of Dogfish Head's brews by this one style.

12oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours transparent golden, white head which fades pronto, average lacing and retention, lots of bubbles swimming upwards. The aromas are full of strawberries and white grapes. It sort of smells like a wine cooler. One sip, is this a wine cooler? Tastes extremely sour. The strawberries are there, but get diminished by the sweetness. This is just too sour for my tastes. The honey is definitely there! Mouthfeel is really nice and is the thing I like most about this beer. Very light and crisp, high carbonation but really smooth. Easy to drink, but it's not something I'd want to drink ever again.
I love DFH, but man I hope they don't bottle this stuff again. I appreciate them trying sometihng different, that's what they're all about, but damn..

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams Boston Lager glass.
Appearance: Pours a translucent, dull golden color. Has a large, extremely fizzy head that dissipates down to next to nothing. I don't think I've ever seen so effervescent a head on a a beer; it was almost like pouring soda or tonic water.
Smell: Has sort of a sweet, grainy aroma to it backed by a considerable strawberry jam smell. The strawberry smells really artificial and I suppose the strange grain smell comes from the fact that this is a gluten-free beer made with sorghum instead of barley. Not really doing it for me so far...
Taste: Has a very mild hoppy bitterness to it. Starts of sweet and grainy and finishes with a really sour punch of strawberry flavor.
Mouthfeel: This may be the most carbonated beer I've had; it actually fizzes and pops like soda or tonic. Basically, drinking this beer drinks like a sparkling wine.
Overall: I don't get much about this beer. I understand the gluten-free angle, but there's really not much to mark this as beer. It tastes more like a fruity sparkling wine or rosé. I usually appreciate DFH's attempt to make unique and strange beers, but this just tastes fizzy and artificial. I can't see myself paying DFH prices for something like this again.

Pours an coppery orange hue with a small short lived white head. Aroma of berries, strawberries, some honey. Taste is a combination of sweet berries, predominantly strawberry, with a kind of nutty dry weird bitter taste. Palate is light crisp body with mild soda like carbonation. Finish is sweet berries, ending is a rather weird and unpleasant combination of flavors. I did not like this at all, could not finish drinking the whole bottle. Overall I would pass on this.

Dogfish Head Tweason'ale is a very lively and clear golden brew with no head. It has a sweet and sour aroma with a large dose of strawberry. It's super light bodied and and very lively in the mouth. The finish is a little chalky. It tastes a little sweet and pretty sour. It kind of has a strawberry candy or strawberry gum flavor going on. Some herbal bitterness comes in at the finish, but the sourness overpowers everything. This seems like it would be a light, easy-to-drink affair, but it ends up being kind of a challenge.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle (dated January 30th 2012) into a pint glass:
A: Pours a crystal clear, medium gold hue with a very small, sudsy head. The head quickly retreats to nothing as big, champagne like bubbles pop in the glass. It looks like carbonated Motts apple juice.
S: The aroma is sickeningly sweet upfront with a bit of a vegetal character. Touches of berries can be found in the background but assume a rather fake scent.
T: It's hard to say what is going on here. The initial profile showcases a some grassy character with a bit of sweetness imparted by the honey and strawberry with some cider like qualities showing through. The beer is rather a mess after that. The flavors just die after first washing over the palate and leave nothing but a thin, raw wheat-like pucker in the finish. Different...
M: Champagne like carbonation, thin, somewhat watery, and very dry in the finish. Makes for a refreshing and easy drinking swig.
O: I'm glad that I only bought a bottle of this to try. All I can say is I now truly empathize with those that must stay on a gluten free diet (be it choice or not). For those that can enjoy glutens, your tastebuds will thank you for going elsewhere.

Honey colored with just a little bit of pink highlight. Carbonation is very effervescent...almost like a soda or draft macro lager.
Tart strawberries on the nose. Reminds me a little of fruit wine, and not unpleasant at all.
Sweet on the front of the palate, but then it heads into rotten fruit territory. A little honey tries to salvage it, but the finish is rough, too. There's an odd bitterness and I can't figure out where it is coming from or what it is. Lingering rotten berries stay with me long after swallowing.
Reminds me of a soured cider or a hobo wine. Ouch. This just isn't good. I know it's gluten free and some things have to be done to make that happen, but I've definitely had better GF beers than than this one.
I bought 4 of these...not sure what I'll do with the other 3, but I'm struggling to even finish 1/2 of this one.
I appreciated DFH's approach to making unusual beers, especially one like this, but this just isn't working for me at all.

I've been putting this off and off, but eventually I have to tackle it. Not really even sure why I bought it, but with a gorgeous spring day out seemed like the one to grab.
Pours a light fizzy head that hits a finger but fades quickly, big bubbles and mostly air in the head, no lacing, over a clear amber orange colored beer with faint pinkish hue.
Nose is weird, it has some strawberry wafts, a bit of an under ripened strawberry, with light almost fake sweet aromas like a syrupy extract thing, a light effervescent champagne like aroma with sparkling strawberry wine.
Taste starts with a fake syrupy extract flavor, obviously the sorghum, then into the wet cardboard flavor, some oxidation I think, and a little corked like flavor even though there's no cork in it, and a light almost wheat flavor but not quite there, again the effervescent like sparkling fruit wine flavors, with some light white unripened strawberry. Finish is more wet cardboard, with a little sticky syrupy mess, as well as light green under ripened strawberry flavor again, and a very faint honey.
Mouth is med to lighter bodied, plenty of carbonation.
Overall meh, didn't have high expectations but the wet cardboard cork flavor really hurt the beer even more. If it wasn't for that it would be tolerable, but that just ruins any possibility.

A-Pours a clear orange color. Virtually no head. Just a mist swaying above the body. Body is transparent.
S-Not a great nose. A bit of artificial strawberries. Wheaty and very sweet. Not my favorite.
T-Yikes, this beer tastes far boozier than expected. Sweet and strange. Not down my alley. Every sip brings this hard-to-describe flavor that is very unattractive.
M-Lighter bodied. Good amount of carbonation. Alcohol shows up too much.
O/D-Bought only a single. This as a four-pack runs around ten dollars. Not even close to worth it for me. Strange beer. Me no likey.

A: Dark gold in color, minimal off-white head, decent retention and lacing.
S: Sorghum, mild strawberry, metal, honey.
T: Sticky mess of fruit and sorghum, has an extract like twang to it with a dry finish
M: Heavy mouth feel, sticky, moderate carbonation
O: Overall it tastes like a novice extract homebrew with some fruit in it. On the positive it's gluten free and the alcohol is hidden well.

Thanks to korguy123 for this bottle.
A - Light translucent orange with a slight strawberry red tinge. A small amount of white head formed on the pour and immediately disappeared.
S - Sweet honey and strawberry juice dominate the nose. The strawberry is not overly strong and is quite pleasant.
T - Very bland overall flavour profile. Some sweet honey and a touch of strawberry. No bitterness whatsoever. Sweet and sugary.
M - Heavy carbonation. Light body. Way too carbonated.
O - A big disappointment. I often find fruit/veg beers to be too heavy on the fruit but this one was the opposite: the strawberry really wasn't there in the palate and this was just sugar/honey water.

Poured into a pint glass. A thin covering of head and a clear, copper body.
It smells like a German white wine: fruity (strawberry) and alcohol.
Watery taste, bit of sweetness, strawberry ending. Mild flavor overall.
High carbonation, lighter and crisp body.
I did not enjoy it, I am probably not going to finish it. Weird flavors and smell for a beer.

Dogfish Head is probably the most creative brewery out there, and played a big part in turning me into a craft beer nerd. Still love 60/90 Minute and most of their other regular and special offerings. Recently though, they've had more misses than hits with me, this one is a..well read on..
Poured this into a Sierra Nevada balloon glass. Interesting reddish-brown color. Barely any head, barely any aroma. Though if I stick my nose directly into the beer, I get a hint of strawberry.
The first sip caused a real fizzy carbonation-fest explosion on the tongue. Very tart strawberry flavor with some sour notes. A little too much for my tastes. Thin feel. Soda like. As it warms matters get worse. Therefore I recommend drinking ice cold.
I allowed my fiance to have a sip and of course she liked it. She's a wine and fancy cocktail drinker.
So this is the type of beer a non-beer drinker would enjoy. Not for me.

Poured from 12oz. Bottle into Tulip Glass. The head was very unusual for a beer. Like a soda, large bubbles that dissipate very quickly with no lacing.
Smell is berry dominant with a slight smell of beer n there somewhere. Not very fragrant.
Taste is ok. Berrys, lemon, and the odd taste that everyone else mentioned, that has to be the sorghum.
The mouthfeel is very light. Again, almost like drinking a soda.
Overall, A Unique beer that missed the mark for me. Glad I tried it, but won't buy again.

Perfectly transparent light amber color with a short eggshell white head. Pale malts, molasses, scotch and smoke with hints of strawberries, black currants and honey. The aroma is complex, and like most DFH brews almost smells like a mismatched group of scrap ingredients (which is not necessarily an awful thing.) Initial sip is full of strawberry and over carbonation, almost like a flat 99 cent soda from store24. Flavor rolls into a slightly more complex body with the hints of honey, molasses and dry scotch making their way through. Highly carbonated, light bodied with a dry, pale finish. Quite disappointed with this one; coming from a big DFH fan, in my opinion this might qualify as their worst.

This beer was served cold in a Imperial Pint glass.
A- The body of the beer is clear golden coloration. The head of the beer is thin white with no retention.
S- The beer truly smells like honeyed strawberry jam very floral in the background.
T- Taste far better than I expected. The beer has a buckwheat pancake flavor covered in semi sweet strawberry jam just a flash of cloves breaking up sweetness.
M- The body of the beer is light and well carbonated. Kind of reminds me of a malturnative. The beer needs a more active carbonation.
O- Nowhere near as good as I hoped and not as bad as I feared. An ok experience but not one to seek out again. Back to the drawing board DFH.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Reviewed live.
A- Quarter inch white head with very little retention. Some spotty lacing. Light golden-orange color with heavy carbonation.
S- Fruity with light hops. Can smell some complexity from the honey and berries, very light though.
T- Light malts and some honey sweet notes. Distinct fruity flavor. Not complex nor is it very good.
M- Medium bodied with big carbonation and very wet.
O- Not a great brew, the strawberry doesn't carry well and the beer itself is half baked.

Pours a fairly-clear golden color with a short white head and a touch of lacing. The nose carries some strawberry and a bit of an odd character that I can't quite place. Nonetheless, not terribly enjoyable. The flavor follows down the same path. There's some spice and fruit and nothing really comes together. Light body. Not a big fan.

A: Clear dark yellow with a slight red/amber tint. Nice 3 finger big bubble clean white head that dissipates quickly.
S: I smell the honey, backed by a strong, unique cardboard aroma - I'm guessing that's the sorghum, which I can't identify since I've never smelled it before. But it's surprisingly different yet nice despite my inadequate description.
T: Whoa, that's potently different... It's Vermouth! Very medicinal tasting... Tastes like strawberries and honey mixed with lots of Vermouth. Not entirely appealing to me as a beer...
M: Very dry like a white wine, but nice carbonation. Light bodied.
O: Wow... this is different from anything I've ever tried before. If I had been blindfolded and told I was drinking a dry strawberry white wine or a dry vermouth it would make more sense... but as a beer, it really threw me for a loop. For the rest of this glass, I will pretend I'm sipping a strawberry martini... now if only the ABV matched...

Bottle courtesy of csmiley. Thanks, dood!
Tweason’ Ale pours a very light gold color. Looks clear for the most part. Backlighting gives it a slight orange tint. Seems to have a very faint pink tint, as well. Perhaps my eyes are deceiving me. A soft white head sits on top. It rises just above the surface and falls quickly. Lacing was very light and spotty.
The nose is very weak and below average overall. It kicks off with a malty sweet smell. Grainy and earthy notes are apparent throughout. Light berry notes are present. They aren’t all that strong, but smell okay. Honey emerges and seems to take over. Smells a little buttery and odd. I’m not getting any alcohol at all. That’s about it. Not good. Needs work.
The flavor is also below average. That might be a little generous. It kicks off with earthy and grainy flavors. They are noted throughout. Those are followed by a honey flavor that’s rather prominent. There are some light berry notes, but they are subtle. They honestly don’t add much. It has an interesting buttery-like flavor that I do not like at all. Seems a little acidic. Alcohol is buried and isn’t noticeable. Eh. It’s not good. Needs work.
Tweason’ Ale has a light body. Carbonation is a little active. It feels watery and thin. It’s not bad. The feel is perhaps its best attribute. The flavor is not good, so its drinkability is limited. I wouldn’t say this one goes down easily. A 12 oz. bottle = a bit of a challenge.
Tweason’ Ale is not very good beer. I understand that it’s gluten free, and I applaud the efforts to craft such a product. However, it just doesn’t taste very good. One side note – I love the inclusion of nutrition facts on the label. This needs to happen much more frequently. As for the beer – it needs work. A lot actually.
