Enjoyed in a snifter glass at Ginger Man in South Norwalk with a burger. Not sure where the last .04% comes from...but this is a strong one.

Pours a vibrant red with subtle amber tones - perhaps burgundy is the best description. Two fingers of fluffy off-white head that lingers nice and settles into nice patching. Nose is boozier than the taste - definitely wine like, smoothly matches with a whiskey, and some sweetness.

Taste is beautifully sweet, not overly so, just the right amount. Some fruitness mixed with a level of sugary malt, all of which hides the strong ABV successfully - although I definitely get some bite from it. This is more of a sipping beer, but its medium body and smooth nature, make its very enjoyable. Definitely not the kind of beer you can have more than a couple of though without getting hit a little harder.

The barleywine that all should be compared to in my opinion. Poors a nice reddish/copper color. Can really smell the fruit (dates/figs) and initial taste can be slightly harsh but smooths out after a few sips. I have been drinking these for about 6 years and upset that this will actually be the first year I'm making myself age them. Will followup on smell/alcohol/taste next year.
