Very nice, pale brown color with a nice, tight head on top. Mild aroma of malt-some caramel roasted notes but rather 1 dimensional. Nice, solid malty flavors. Somewhat of a nutty and bready taste. Slight caramel tinge. Great body though the cask certainly lends itself to maing it a decent beer body wise. I could certainly do this all night. I find it similar to some of the more pedestrain UK beers like Bass, Newcastle, etc but the cask delivery really sets it off.

Chet's Nuts on cask via handpump delivers a remarkably creamy head atop a deep amber/chestnut brown body. It's only slightly hazy, as it should be. The head retention is quite good, and it leaves creamy rings of lace about the glass as it goes.

The aroma is fairly basic malt with a bit of a caramelish note. No real hops are present.

The flavor displays a nutty, gently caramelish malt base with just a hint of leafy hops behind it. The smoked Italian chestnuts are present, lending it a very nice nuttiness, but really make their appearance in the finish with a hint of smokiness that lingers in the mouth (it's actually more phenolic than smoky, but OK).

The body is light/medium and creamy across the palate.

Being an English style mild it shouldn't be surprising that it's remarkably drinkable. And certainly the cask conditioning helps (I believe it's being poured from a firkin beneath the bar). What is surprising is how nicely flavored and characterful the maltiness is. And how the nuttiness really comes through. Quite enjoyable!
