Lawnmower is our intro for those who need a little help jumping feet first into the crazy world that is Dogfish Head beer.
It's a starter beer, but it's not dumbed down. Lawnmower is made with quality ingredients and is a great thirst quencher. It's perfect to enjoy after a day in the sun mowing the lawn (or anything else that gets you hot and bothered)!

On draft at DFH Brewing and Eats in Rehoboth Beach.
Thin trace white head, clear yellow body.
Faintly grainy nose.
Cereal grains dominate the taste: light pilsnery, a bit of corn.
Mouthfeel is refreshing but a bit too prickly.
It's a lawnmower beer. What did I expect?

served in a pint glass at the brewpub in Rehoboth Beach.
appears a pale yellow in color, with just thin whisps of head. clean aroma so mild pale malt, grassy hops. crisp taste, easy to drink. thin body, higher carbonation. fits the description - a refreshing, thirst-quenching beer for the riding the Lawnmower. But it's only available on tap. They should can it!

On-tap at the DFH Brewpub as part of a flight.
Poured a clear golden yellow with a thin white head. Crisp aromas of sweet, lightly toasted malt and grassy hops. Taste follows the nose closely, light, sweet, and a bit grassy. Mouthfeel is smooth and crisp with a light body and good carbonation. Overall a solid, easy-drinking beer that would be very refreshing on a hot day!

burnt amber orange with a big white frothy head that slowly faded and left behind a multitude of lacey goodness in its wake. Smell is very malty. Slight hint of a citrus hoppiness in the back but main flavors were grain and musty malty bread. Taste followed a similar route, crisp clean, and the finish was very light and orange tinged in flavor. Overall this was a very quality brew and a fine pale ale.

From 11/19/11 notes. Had on tap at the DFH brewpub in Falls Church, VA. Served in a pint glass.
a - Pours a clear, straw yellow color with one inch of white head and light to moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of grains, grass, bready malts, very light fruit.
t - Tastes of grains, bready malts, light earthy notes, and light citrus.
m - Light body and light to moderate carbonation. Very easy to drink, a tiny bit more carbonation and it could have been great, but still very good mouthfeel.
o - Overall a very light and easy drinking pale ale. Just enough citrus and fruit to make it above average, and something I'd probably have again if I were looking for a APA. Would probably be a great DFH beer for BMC drinkers to come have at a brewpub and like right away.

tap at the alehouse in Chantilly.
Pours a light honey citrus gold, white lacing.
Smells of fresh citrus and light sweet malts.
Tastes follows, light, citrusy and sugary malts.
Feels mediium to thin with light bubbles of carbonation.
A highly sessionable, highly drinkable light ale that is a great thirst quencher. That said, it's nothing special. Worth having if you're at DFH and you want to tie several on, otherwise there are other better uses of your time.

On Tap at the DFH brew pub. Pours pale straw hue with a thin white head. Very fruity, malty aroma has a hint of hops. Light-medium, crisp body. Light, pleasant hops are balanced on the palate by biscuit malt and lemon fruit. Very pleasant, light session beer.

Got growler from Wholefoods Short Pump
A: pour clear and golden, about a half a finger of white head, oddly a nice thin halo on the glass.
S: a bit grainy, some light cooked veggies, very very light floral hop.
T: very basic, simple malt, very light hop, also lighter cooked veggies.
M: crisp, a little watery but not bad
O: the half liter I poured for myself went fast, it is poundable, simple APA to start down a new path of craft ales

Served on-tap in a DFH pint glass at DFH Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
A: Clean, clear, golden straw yellow color with a thin head of bubbly white foam which hung around and left a bit of weak lacing.
S: Cooked veggies, some grassy, herbal hops and buttery fruits, stewed apricot and aluminum.
T: Sweet cooked corn flavor up front with a thin, fizzy, herbal hop wave that ushers in a buttery malt flavor. The finish is somewhat dry with very little lingering bitterness and a little hold over of veggies.
M: Thin, almost watery in parts, it still has some malt body through the palate and finish.
O: Certainly the lightest beer DFH could make without goin all adjunct light lager on us. The 4% ABV and sorta watery mouthfeel make it perfect for its namesake and works just as well coming off of a hot day at Rehoboth or Dewey Beach. Outside these scenarios, I'd stay away even for a one and done, but this hybrid blonde APA is light done right.

A- Light yellow in color w/ a thin off white head. Minimal carbonation and lacing.
S- Some grass, hops, little malt, and that's really about it.
T- Same as the smell. Pretty one dimensional, but this would be a good summer or session beer if you don't have anything else laying around.
M- Fairly thin and one dimensional. But for the style it's decent.
O- Not bad on draft at DFH Falls Church. Good session beer that won't fill you up when you eat one of there 2000 calorie burgers. Wouldn't seek this one out, but for the style...

Appearance: Basically a golden version of Shelter Pale Ale.
Smell: Basically fresh cut grass and lemon. Summery. I can see where it gets its name.
Taste/Mouthfeel: Extremely subdued. Grass and lemony hops with a nutty caramel background. Definitely a heavy alcohol presence, which surprises me.
Drinkability: The alcohol presence might make this rought as a session beer or during the summer.
Overall: Definitely respectable.

Dogfish Head Lawnmower Light is a light and boring pale ale. If you have access to any other DFH beer, then don't get it.

Had on tap at the DFH brewpub in Rehoboth.
A: Was served in a pint glass. The beer was a clear, straw/golden color with a small white head on top, with little retention and lacing.
S: Light, not much going on. Light malt and a a little bit of grain. Faint floral and citrus hop aromas.
T: Similar to the aroma, some grain and light malt with a little bit of grassy/floral hops, but very weak.
M: Light bodied, definitely on the thin side. Not watery really, just very light.
O: A good alternative to macros and other light beers, but the only place that serves it is DFH...and when there are so many other great options, I doubt I will get it again.

Nice straw pour with a half a finger worth of head with active carb. Stronger flavor profile than i expected with nice citrus and grassy notes. The biscuity yeast flavors are paired nicely with slight hop undertones. The mouthfeel is very clean and crisp with little negative after taste or feeling on the palet.

A: A light golden ale with a one-finger white head that dissipates into small wispy lace.
S: A pleasant cereal malt taste with a decent hoppy background.
T: A very light, sweet, crisp beer with a decent malt and hop mix.
M: Light body and high carbonation. Very watery and easy on the palate
O: A lawnmower beer indeed. A decent beer – although pretty boring for me.

A lawnmower beer...obviously. A very simple beer, served exclusively at Dogfish Head's brewpub, and made primarily for the most casual of beer drinkers. Pours very light, very pale, straw colored with a bit of a white head, and some carbonation. Light, citrus hops in the nose along with some grassiness. Taste is light; crisp hops and fresh grass. Clean, refreshing, and easily drinkable, very lacking in imagination and overall flavor. It's still DFH though, and it's understandable, as this is more for the casual beer drinker. Not a bad beer, just not something I'd ever order again.

Ordered this the first time I ate at the DfH brewpub in Rehobeth. The only thing I could think was how much this was like a heavier version of a Miller Lite. I feel bad saying that but I understand this beer is for people who may not be familiar with craft brewing and what not. I find that it's cool that DfH will serve this to appeal to that demographic. I wanted to try it just to rate it online. It's pale yellow and light. On the sweeter side, aroma and taste.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a translucent straw color with a thin head. Zero lacing. Aroma is like fresh cut grass, hence the name I suppose. Slight lemon aroma. Taste is kind of like a cereal flavor. Malty. Crisp. Quite obvious this is a summer beer. Ridiculously drinkable, but I am guessing that is the main point. Overall this is the perfect summer brew. I would certainly like to see this bottled. Glad I tried it.

Pours a very light straw like color with a one finger head and no lacing on the glass. The aroma is faint a hint of ceral malt and hops. The taste has a slight ceral malt backbone and a very slight generic hop bite, more like an adjunct than an apa. The mouthfeel is well carbonated. Overall it is an easy drink, but there is nothing really there to make you want more.

On tap poured into a pint glass at DFH. From my notes -- Appearance: Pale yellow with a slight, foamy white head. Aroma: Very light nose with grassy notes and some grain. Taste: Lemon, slight bit of grain. Very clean. Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation with a light, dry mouthfeel. Short finish. Overall: Just not all that great. Least favorite of my DFH beers.

On draft at the DFH location in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger bone white head. There was decent retention and lacing.
The smell featured a light cereal malt and grassy hop.
The flavor was obviously light and consisted of a bright grassy hop and soft residual doughiness.
The mouthfeel was typical of a light craft lager. Without brewer's notes here, I cannot agree with the classification of APA.
Overall a tasty and easily quaffable lager. Not much to think about, so easily enjoyable.

Reviewed from notes. On tap at the Dogfish Alehouse in Falls Church.
The pour brings a bright yellow body with plenty of visible carbonation and a white head. The nose is mostly just some light grain. I don't think there's much more I can say. Taste is the some with light grain and straw. Light body with good carbonation. A nice lawnmower beer and drinks well for what it is.

Had this at the Del Mar fairgrounds Coors Lite trailer. Was too late for Micro Fest.
A- yellow, just a bit darker than the macros.
A- tart, corny.
T- tasts like a Coors Lite aged in a sour barrel, some funkyness with no malt backing.
M- dry, slightly puckering.
O- not enjoyable. Just wanted to get it down. Perhaps they sold a bad batch to Coors. Good job if its the case, but bad job if it isnt. Only bad beer I have had from dogfish head.

Experienced this on tap in Rehoboth with the calamari as food.
A - clear golden with some almost flat head.
S - presents itself like a lager. some maltiness and a touch of hops in the smell.
T/M - surprisingly flat with almost no body. Expected a Koelsch style crisp taste but Lawnmover light dissapoints in taste. low carbonated on-tap.
D - ok/fine. one for the thirst and then order an IPA.
