this beer smells incredible. a strong aroma of hops and malts immediately made itself known as soon as the bottle was cracked.

gold color. slight haze. very thick frothy off white head. excellent lacing.

smells most strongly of hops. spicy hops i want to say, of the czech style. a little citrus as well. the alcohol is then probably next strongest. and then i would have to say the yeast is the next most apparent aroma. does Sam have a proprietary yeast? because there is something about this beer that reminds me of 120 minute. raisin and a little plum. and then even after all that the malts are still strong. very well composed.

that is unlike any beer i have ever tasted. taste is sweet throughout, though strongest upfront, and give way more and more to the hop bitterness. the flavor profile much resemble the bouquet. only this is a very hot beer. and it finishes more like an ale. very soft. and wet. very hoppy. malty yeast flavor very apparent.

very big in the mouth. soft carbonation.

i guess things are bound to get crazy when you try to make an imperial pilsner and especially when Sam is at the helm. this is a kick ass beer. though it just doesnt remind me of a lager.
