A: Pours out a cloudy, but light amber color. Three fingers of straw colored head with ridiculous retention and sticky lacing that don't go away even after you beg them to leave.

S: Smell isn't too strong but there are light notes of spicy yeast, apricot, and orange.

T: I'm still sensing quite a bit of spiciness from the yeast as well as a nice balance of bitter balance of floral/herbal hops. There is just a hint of semi-sweet citrus like a cross of orange and lemon.

M: Medium body that is creamy with a medium carbonation.

O: I like it. Considering the commercial pilsner garbage that is sold in the states, this is a great change of pace. I don't seem to have many craft pilsners sold in my area so it was finally nice to try one. A great summery beer to have. A whole bomber could go down very easy on a nice day.

Slightly chill hazed gold colored beer with a puffy white head.

Smell is floral and yeasty with a herbal hop aroma. Subtle aromas, very faint apricot. Slight amounts of grass and lemon.

Starts out mild with a passing taste of strawberry and cream. Mildly bitter and tame for a Double Pilsner. Grassy with a taste I can't quite nail down. Best description would be mushroom tea.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall tasty and interesting, a good choice for introduction to this beer style.

A - Pours golden in color, opaque, bright eggshell head.

S - Malts, hay, grain and honey notes.

T - Light hops with a bit of honey sweetness. Malty, but not overdone, with a hay aspect.

M - Light bodied with medium carbonation. Very crisp and easy drinking.

O - Nothing special but it's a well done pilsner.

Poured from 750 ml bottle into New Belgium snifter. Bottled in 2012, no idea when. Likely near the end of shelf life.

A- pours a very hazy, cloudy butterscotch color. Mountains of foam settle in unevenly across surface of the brew. Good lacing shows after the original, cream-colored head starts to dissipate.

S- honey. Honey and dry hay. I am an IPA guy, so I don't know if this is right for the style, but I really like the smell.

T- Honey, buttered biscuit and sweet malt. As an IPA drinker, I don't really know what I am looking for, but this is nice with a really strong hoppy bitter finish. After all of that sweet smell and sweet start, the bitter finish is a home run.

M- hits the mouth with hard carbonation, and hits the throat with soft, oily liquid. Nice job from DFH on this one. The burn is quick up front, and non-existent on the swallow.

O- It may be unfair for me to rate a Pils because I only drink IPA these days, but this heavily-hopped offering from DFH is a great transition for me. I had it on tap (cask) a few months ago and I loved it. This bottle reaffirms that love. Good show. Not an IPA, but a great beverage overall.

750 poured into a Duvel Tulip (2012 C 18:32)

A: A light orange-ish yellow hue with a thick head that sticks around for a bit. Also, has some decent lacing.

S: It smells very citrusy, but not a typical hops citrus scent. It smells almost like a semi-dry apple cider and has a similar coloring. You do get the yeasty scent from it being a pilsner as well.

T: It has a very light hop profile, with the pilsner yeast coming through. I'm not sure if the hop profile is due to time or is just normal though. It kinda tastes like an old IPA. However, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The pilsner side of it bolsters that flavor and maintains it.

M: It has a very smooth feel with only a slight bit of coarse carbonation. A quite nice mouthfeel.

O: This is my first pilsner and thus my first double pilsner. I had wanted to get a 2013 bottle, but instead I had to settle for a cheap 2012 bottle. I wish they used M/Y dating. Overall thought this is a quite nice beer from DFH. I bet it is much better fresh with more of a hop profile (hopefully), but it holds up over a year. At least here in MD around me this one is hard to find fresh. Also, this is one of the cheaper DFH 750s ($8-12). I don't know but I feel as if this one might benefit from being a core beer.

Despite pilsners typically being my least favorite style of beer, I love Dogfish Head so much i decided to give My Antonia a try. This may have been a good jump into the pilsner game for me as it seems to be a bridge between a true pils and something more intense like an IPA. It pours an interesting cloudy off yellow with a huge fluffy white head that is glued to the side of the glass. Smells of fresh hops, lemon and grapefruit. Hints of yeast and spice. Wonderful aroma. Flavor is not at all what I expected. Hops, pine, lemon, touch of honey and some bread at the end. Flavor is well balanced and not in your face like some imperials can be. Mouthfeel is very light and refreshing. Great summer beer. Overall, I really love this beer, definitely my new favorite pilsner.

S: smells of citrus rind and a bit of malt sweetness
T: slightly bready malt with ample amounts of clean citrusy and slightly piney bitterness with a bit of light sweetness from the malt to provide a bit of balance, slightly herbal and woody flavors as well. swallow brings more citrusy and piney hops with a bit more malt sweetness
M: lighter side of medium with ample and slightly prickly carbonation. refreshing finish
O: a very tasty beer, a bit simple but such is the style and this one is clean and refreshing with a solid dose of hop flavor

Slightly more orange in color than a typical pale lager, with the most incredible floral hop aroma and delicate, refined taste. I guess this one qualifies as imperial pilsner due to comparatively high alcohol content. Certainly a lager brewed right. Enthusiastically recommended!

A: Golden orange, hazy, with a fantastic, 3-finger head of dense foam that lingered for ages, with fair remnant lacing. If it had been clear and a little more straw-colored (more in keeping with the style), I'd have given it a 5.

S: Fresh-cut grass and grain are certainly present, as is a whiff of black pepper; but the floral hops is strong and rather dominates, even detracts from, the other aromas.

T: Grainy malt is present, but weak, quickly fading into memory as flavors of pine resin and bitter hops take over. There's also a mildly-unpleasant note of fatty acid in the finish.

M: Crisp and refreshing initially. The alcohol is clearly discernible, consistent with the relatively high ABV. The finish is astringent more than dry, thus the lower mark.

O: Not bad, but they certainly didn't "nail it" either. I know that Dogfish Head is known for their experimental brews, but usually their label tells you when they are getting into the territory of eclectic tastes -- Maybe I was just expecting something truer to the style than this beer delivered.

Drinkin this on the most beautiful day of 2013 so far. Pours up murky orange with big 'ol white frothy head. Aroma of big pale malts, lots of floral and some citrus hops. Lil bit of yeasty esters. From the bomber into a pilsener:

A: hazy golden body leaving, an awesome foamy lumpy speckled white one finger head appears and lasts for a minute before dieing to a half finger of clingy head with clingy lacing along the sides.

S: sweet with the malts slightly more forward than the bittering hops, but some nice peppery hops come in to balance the aroma.

T: well balanced between sweet, peppery and bitter, there is a slight herbal kick on the backend, it leaves a dry aftertaste and has a peppery finish.

M: medium, slightly closer to the watery side. This is fairly sessionable.

O: I'm really impressed with this one, but I haven't had too many double pilseners, so I don't have much to compare with. I will definitely come back to this.

appearance.... nice golden yellow. reminiscent of hefeweizen. pours with a large two inch head. lots of lacing on the glass.

smell... sweet. malty. light bitterness at the back end.

taste... sweet herbal

mouthfeel... nice smooth rounded body.

overall... enjoyable beer. easy to drink.

Served on tap at whole foods Schaumburg. Appearance is a bright brilliant gold with bone white head. Nice clarity and cascading bubbles, good head retention. The nose is malty with notes of toasted bread, grass, and some herbaceous qualities that I can't quite put my finger on. Earthy character on the finish. Taste features deep malts with notes of caramel, a hint of molasses, and some grassy hop character. Not getting a whole lot of hop bitterness on here, just a touch of earthy character. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated with a light body. Overall, pretty unique flavor, but it doesn't all add up to a totally enjoyable brew. Would pass next time around.

A: measureed pour into a pilsener glass produced the desired effect: hazy gold beer with a three-finger head of off-white foam that trailed down the sides and hung around as a layer of foam across the beer

S: floral hops and yeasts, pale cereal grain malts

T: crisp and citric hops up[ front, mellower, sweeter malt notes creep in behind and under, but reinforce a citric flavor with some deeper woodsy flavors

M: sharp, light, tingly on the sip, then smoother, slicker, and more coating on the back-end; slight tart finish

O: not familiar enough with the style to comment on how well it meets style-expectations, but this was a very fresh, crisp, and also satisfying drink - great finish, feel, and flavor. A very drinkable beer. Probably great starter beer for people who are leery of "weird"/craft beer, but know there's something better out there than Bud, Miller, Coors, et. al.

Served from bottle into a Dogfish Head snifter (proper!). Poured a golden yellow-orange with a three finger white head that subsided to a half finger very slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, wheat, grain, spice, pepper, bubblegum, and alcohol. The flavor was of sweet malt, bubblegum, grain, wheat, floral, spice, pepper, and alcohol. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty average brew. Nothing really stood out on this one for with the exception of the alcohol if I am honest. This made the enjoyable aspects of this one really lost in the booze going on. This was a bottle with some decent age on it so I would have expected the alcohol to be completely gone, but alas, there it was glaring back at me. Glad I got to try this one finally and get it out of my cellar, but I doubt I would do so again.

Smells offers lots of pilsner maltiness, grassy lemony hops, some soft powdery yeast, herbal freshness.

Citrusy hops, mild yeast again, well balanced with light malty sweetness..flavors could develop more.

Refreshing and clean finish, proper feel for a pils.

Pours a slightly hazy medium golden color with a huge fluffy white head that filled more than a quarter of the glass and stalled my enjoyment of this brew. Smells of citrus and caramel on top of bready grainy malt. Bits of grapefruit and lemons meld with the sweet grainy and bready aromas usually associated with a lager. The flavor is sweet with bready and caramel malts with some grapefruit and a lot of lemon from the hops. There's a touch of spice and a bit of earth and a fair amount of bitter hop bite that lingers long after every sip. Medium body with a semi dry finish, a moderate to high level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. Decent beer, probably not something I would buy again, but I'm glad I got to try it.

My Antonia pours a darker copper color, with a nice sized lacing head. There is a bitter dry, floral aroma, much like an IPA. The taste has a nice crisp sweet citrus taste that then turns floral and bitter. Great full flavor, complex, I love the change on the palette, nice and dry too. Overall a very interesting beer, worth a try.

DFH Signature glass

A: Pours out a light golden yellow color. Two fingers of really fluffy white head. Lots of carbonation, like the majority of DFH beers. Pretty for the style though.

S: I think the nose would have been different with a fresher bottle. I'm pulling sweetness. Mild citrus. Grassy grainy notes. Some breadiness. Biscuit like.

T: On the tip of the tongue, you still can detect those hops. But strangely they didn't taste like the described West Coast hops like on the label. I was pulling more of that Euro hop flavor of like a Czech or Saaz hop varietal. After that, in the middle of the mouth you are getting that breadiness that you smelled on the nose. Again, biscuit like. Tastes like it has age on it, go figure. Dry clean finish. Probably would be much better fresh.

M: Medium bodied and drinks easy with the carbonation.

Pour is crystal clear lager yellow with a tight white head and nice lace. Nose is doughy and buttery up front with a blast of citrus and pine behind, very resinous. Taste is about the same with almost no bitterness. Almost like an IPA with the hop punch, body is light and creamy but very light carbonation with a burn of alochol in the finish.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Pilsner Urquell pilsener glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, bright golden color. Has an enormous, rocky head that dissipates slowly and leaves some fantastic lacing. Perfect!

Smell: Has a grainy pilsener smell backed by some intense hop aromas. Has a bit of a yeasty smell to it as well that I detect in a lot of DFH beers.

Taste: Man, where to begin? Starts with a good bit of sweetness backed by intense ctirusy, grassy, earthy hop flavors. Very well-balanced between the hoppy bitterness and lagery sweetness. My only complaint would be that it's only 7.5% ABV, but you can taste every bit of that; this is a very boozy beer.

Mouthfeel: Very full-bodied, yet still crisp and refreshing.

Overall: Definitely one of my all-time favorites here. The idea of mixing a Czech pilsener with West Coast hops is brilliant and really pays off in this beer. I can't recommend this one enough.

Medium hazy gold with a thick rocky head that just lasts and holds that rocky shape. Gobs of foam on the sides of the glass from each sip. Gorgeous.

Straw. Sweet grass, some sweet malt and herbal hop notes.

On;y 7.5 but you notice it. Grassy malt, some woody notes, some vanilla in the background. Dries out and gets bitter toward the end, but the booze rears up and kicks those flavors out with some boozy woody and slight vanilla edge. Unique pils, and well overdone in all flavor areas.

Medium to fuller bodied.

Good substantial and complex. Not sure if I should sip or consume with food or drain the cup. Odd. I liked it, but it is a tough one to get super excited to drink again. I liked it, but this is a special occasion brew.

750 that has been aged a year, poured into a founders pint glass. Blew over when i opened it and continued to do so for about 20 seconds.

A - Pours a cloudy golden/orange in color with bright white head that lasts pretty much throughout the drink. Good lacing throughout the pint glass as it goes down.

S - Sweet sugars, citrus, grapefruit, herbs, light malt.

T - Super drinkable. Sweet, grapefruits, lightly hopped, good malt base, with a slightly dry finish.

M - Medium in body with a higher level of carbonation (at least in my bottle). Slightly dry finish.

O - I absolutely love this brew. It's such a great balance of sweetness, hops, citrus, grapefruits, a hardly a hint of the 7.5% abv, could drink this all day. Have had it before this review and will continue to look for it again in the future. Great job DFH on this brew.
