Aged: Approx. 1 3/4 year.

Appearance:
Pours a nice dark black with a light shade of purple. A nice amount of dark tannish head appears. Leaves quite a bit of lacing.

Smell:
After first pouring from the bottle I get a strong alcohol smell that eventually dissipates. A dark chocolate smell dominates with hits of what appears to be sumatra. I also get a little bit of honey but not much.

Taste:
The dark chocolate taste dominates the palate but with undertones of the Sumatra. I get a bit of the honey as it mixes with the dark chocolate and it reminds me of a Toblerone.

Mouthfeel:
Smoooth with some light carbonation.

Overall:
A great beer worth drinking.

2012 vintage. Served in a snifter

Appearance: Pours jet black with 2 fingers of a dark tan, almost brown head. Body is completely opaque.

Smell: Roasted malt, cocoa, light smoke, toffee, molasses.

Taste: Dark chocolate, roasted malt, raisins, honey, earth, light caramel/toffee sweetness, and some slight smokiness. Finish and aftertaste is a nice balance of honey sweetness and roasted coffee bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, high/medium carbonation. Booze is hidden well.

Overall: One of my favorite offerings from Dogfish head. The base beer is solid and the addition of the honey beer really adds to it and helps set it apart from some of the other great imperial stouts out there. Definitely worth picking up a bottle.
