tap

Pours light, slightly hazy lemon gold with a thin white head with good retention.

Smells of lemon zest and coriander.

Tastes light and lemony with some coriander and other spiced notes.

Thinner mouth with slight tingle of carbonation throughout.

Good tasty wit with lots of good characteristics and some uniqueness in the flavor profile. Would have again. Very refreshing.

Poured into a white wine glass, Namaste pours a light golden yellow with a frothy white head.

I get candied lemon and spice in the nose. It gives a very pleasant smell with lots of light nuances of citrus and spices.

The taste is very refreshing with lemon and coriander but falls flat as you swallow. It gets watery as it goes past the tongue and doesn't have much of a finish. I expect more flavor from a Dogfish beer.

The mouthfeel is thin and bubbly, as it coats the tongue with little bubbles.

Overall Im glad I tired it but unfortunately the Hennepin I just cooked with has noticeably more flavor than this.

Generously shared by my buddy, Bill - Thanks!

Appearance -- Pours a hazed chartreuse hue with a tuft of lily white head. Purty.

Smell -- Aromas of cracked wheat, coriander, an abundance of lemongrass, and sweet/tart citrus. Very interesting citrus component, definitely different from the typical zesty orange peel.

Taste -- Bready malt and dry wheat, lemongrass and coriander, and earthy and somewhat tart yeast. Again, the citrus component is very unique, lending faint fruity tartness. I'm not sure if this is caused by the dried orange flesh, but somehow the coriander and lemongrass are very much in the forefront. Lingering flavors of yeast tartness and lemongrass.

Mouthfeel -- Medium-light in body with high carbonation and tea-like astringency. Carbonation is a bit harsh, and the astringency was not welcome.

Overall -- Interesting. Refreshing, interesting addition of both lemongrass and the dried orange slices. All was relatively good except for the mouthfeel: overcarbonated, astringent, distracting.

Additional Notes: Requires a weekend nap.

A - Gright golden in color with some orangish darker shades, exceptional white fluffy head that leaves great lacing on the glass.

S - Mild citurs smell with the sweetness of oranges, aroma of corriander but not overkill/over powering.

T- Great lemon grass qualities hit the taastebuds, has a mild spice to it with a sour cheek tweeking taste like a fresh lemon, nice bitter sweet finishing touch.

M - This is the best quality of this beer, very light with a nice carbiniation, leave you wanting more good clean feeling.

D - Very smooth beer, extremly refreshing, almost thirst quenching in a way. Easy to drink, I could see my self drinking this beer on a regualr basis if it was a year round option from DFH.

A 750 mL bottle.

A: The witbier is a light straw color, hazy as a witbier gets. The lighter colors support an equally white head that leaves a few islands of lace behind.

S: The nose has plenty of coriander driving a full aroma. Mild wheat hands a tart profile to the ale. The coriander though stands out with a fresh cut peppery aroma.

T: The coriander stands out in the taste as well, an herbal flavor that adds pepper and grasses to the body. Oranges are soft and the wheat that accompanies both has a pleasant undercurrent of tartness. The coriander lingers throughout, a spiciness that is welcome at nearly every turn.

M: The mouthfeel is spice-driven, so much so that the witbier base doesn't get as much airtime as it should. The wheat is present though, enough tartness to keep me interested.

Poured this clear golden yellow beer into my pint glass as a small head developed. I detected coriander, orange peel, grain, and a bit of a vegetal funk in the aroma. A fine wheat beer taste with noticeable lemongrass present. Subtle spices. Very light and refreshing - typical of the style. Quite good, but not sure it lives up to the hype.

I just split a bottle of this with my sister. I poured mine into a snifter glass.

It was pale, opaque, yellow with a light head that faded very quickly.

Smell was of citrus and coriander with a light banana background.

Tasted was very good, very complex. Spicy notes combined with citrus and wheat to produce a pleasant taste indeed. It was really subtle and very good.

Mouthfeel was average, not too bubbly or flat. Not thick but not watery.

I liked it. Good example of the style. Cheers!

Bottle from Nick's of Clinton.

The beer is pale yellow with a fizzy white head. Ample effervescence apparent. The aroma offers malt, lemons, lemon zest, earthy hop scents, grass. Refreshing and light. Immediately, I think the body is too thin, though on the other hand, this adds to the thirst quenching on a hot day factor. Still, I'd prefer a slightly more robust feel. Mild bitterness in the finish. Floral hops and lemon grass with a dash of citrus, particularly lemons and oranges, respectively. Overall, a solid beer, but overpriced. $8.99 per sixer might inspire me to purchase this again, but for a 750 mL bottle, that's asking too much, given the style.

Poured a nice golden color, a bit hazy with a white head that did not last long at all; not a lot of lacing either. Very off for the style but typical of Dogfish Head beers.

The aroma on this beer is great, however, you know it is a Belgian White. The yeast, orange peel, and lemongrass are all pretty evident and are combined superbly.

Taste follows the nose, which is great. There is a nice mix of orange and lemon along with some yeast/wheat. It has a perfect sweetness to it.

Adequate carbonation. Was easy to drink and very refreshing, a great summer beer. Will have to go back and pick up another bottle or two before they run out.

Had on tap in Rehoboth. I'm not usually a big Wit person but this was a fruity and mellow take on the style.

It's pale straw colored, not as hazy or golden as it should be, and the nose is also something of a disappointment, as it's a weak clove and not much else. It picks up citrus flavors (the dried orange is prominent and delicious) and a tangy wheat background in the taste, without really delivering on the spice until the finish, and then it's coriander, not so much cloves. Very light, low-carbonation body--I wasn't in love with this beer, but it's a good refreshing Wit and I'm glad I was able to try it while it was still out.

Served out of a bottle into a glass:

A: Has a nice crisp golden straw color. The perfect haziness for a whitbier.

S: Nothing impressive here...although whitbiers dont typically have too much nose...so this is ok.

T: Citrusy notes with a slighly dry finish.

M: A bit fizzy..

O: A nice clean bear for its class. Nothing impressive for dogfish but never the less good.

A - Two fingers worth airy fluffy pure white head with a slightly rocky top... Moderate retention gives way to a thick full rich creamy lacing... The color is a bright golden yellow with a moderate haziness... A mix of sluggish and quick paced carbonation bubbles, all of which are on the large size, rise randomly within... A bit of lacing clings to the glass...

S - Lemon... Some orange zest... Wheat fields... Just the most subtle touch of spiciness... Pleasant and quite refreshing, but rather subdued overall...

T - The palette is as the nose would lead you to believe... The lemon is at the forefront, but isn't overpowering... Some orange and other citrus notes... Wheat and spices are also mixed in...

M - Light bodied... Clean... Crisp... Prickly carbonation... Simple and refreshing... A touch of lushness...

D - A simple refreshing beer... Very straightforward... Nothing edgy or provocative about this one (something I have come to expect and relish in other DFH offerings)... A nice spring / summer offering... There's nothing "wrong" with this one, but not something I would highly recommend either...

Poured into a Duvel Tulip from a 750 ml. bottle, this beer has a cloudy amber/orange color with a large foamy white head. Smells of coriander, orange peel, wheat and yeast are immediately noticeable. The first sip brings out a strong taste of citrus, orange peel in particular. Coriander and mild spices are also there, along with notes of lemon. This beer has a clean, slightly dry mouthfeel with dry lemony finish. Somehow this beer avoids the sickly sweetness I feared after smelling it and balances it's flavors more toward the tart/spicy side. This would make a great summer
beer. This particular bottle had quite a bit of sediment in it.

I'll buy and try anything Dogfish Head brews. Anything.

Pours a slightly hazed pale yellow...very washed out looking, which does, admittedly, get us as close to white (wit) as beer gets. The head is quite small, pouring thin, even when poured hard, but certainly maintaining itself for a good couple minutes before dying.

Wow, immensely fragrant, this Namaste, with a healthy wheat vs. yeast battle taking place, both ultimately joining to offer a tart, earthy, grassy, lemony explosion of aroma...of course, the lemongrass, coriander and dried orange slices are contributing too.

The flavor is good, certainly offering equal spotlight to the spice/fruit additions, while the wheat is clean and bright, the yeast offering a bitty taste of soil...the hops? Pretty mellow, if even detectable...it's really the lemongrass that does what hops might normally do here. Overall a bright, grassy, slightly tart, and bready taste. With just a little warming, it all coalesces into a nice, bold herbal flavor. Ample carbonation, lots of spritz, light bodied, all fitting for a witbier.

Tasty. A more than worthy witbier if you love this style, but I get sort of bored with the wit these days, so I can just admire from a distance really. It's not like I need Dogfish Head to throw tar and pickle juice into a beer to make me take notice...not at all. Although, hmm, I wonder what a Pickled Pils might taste like? I'll have to get Sam's #...

A: Pours a hazy gold with a compact, clinging white head.

S: Aromas of lemongrass, coriander, and orange peel are strong on the nose. Already, this smells extremely assertive and flavorful compared to most witbiers.

T: Notes of cream, vanilla, coriander, lemongrass, orange peel, and wheat toast gently wash across the palate. The finish is sharp and grainy with wheat, spice, and cream notes.

M: Very light in body, dry, and quite smooth. Carbonation is relatively unobtrusive. On-tap, this feels a bit watery.

O: This is a pretty solid and unique Belgian-style witbier that is likely better from the bottle than the tap. Had this not been so watery, I would have had no trouble giving it a much higher review.

DogFish Head Namaste Witbier, 22oz. bomber: Witbiers have been one of my favorites ever since I had a Hoggarten on the Grand Place in Brussels. Aside from the ubiquitous Coors Blue Moon, you do not see many brewers pursuing this fine style of beer. DogFish Head has a good reputation, so, despite the ugly label, I picked up this bomber to see what DogFish Head could do. The thin pure white head sits atop a cloudy straw colored body, and effuses an aroma of citrus. Good witbier flavor, which stays very light. No aftertaste. The Namaste is a good effort by DogFish Head, and worthy of a try. I drink wheats and whites during the summer, and often more than one per sitting, often with fresh (for zest) or aged (for sweetness) lemon. A “statement” white beer just does not fit into the economics, and it is often the lemon that is more key to the flavor than the underlying brew. So Blue Moon will remain the staple.

750ml shared with my buddy, poured into stemless wine glass. Opaque straw yellow, very yellow, white three finger head that leaves some belgian lacing around the glass. The aroma is heavy on the spices, with coriander and lemongrass dominating and orange peal playing second fiddle. Orange, coriander and citrus on the front of the palate and than all lemongrass to the finish. The lemongrass is a huge flavor, it does however play well with the rest of the beer. Nice wheaty flavor pairs well with the spices and some fruity yeast twang can be found too. Well bodied for a smaller ale. Overall Dogfish succeeded on this one, albeit with a bit too much lemongrass flavor.

Pours a pale, slightly cloudy straw color with a pure white head that sticks around as medium cap and leaves some decent lacing. Nice spicy and lemony aromas, with a particularly nice floral hit of lemongrass. The taste is a bit more subtle, with a gentleness overall, some very light spice notes, some decent lemongrass, and a soft finish. The beer could use a little more crispness, and a little more depth of flavor, but overall it's fairly intriguing and quite refreshing.

Dogfish Head's Namaste

C: Hazy yellow color. Pours with about an inch of bright white head, which lingers for a few minutes.

S: Citrus. Wheat. Coriander

T: A nice well rounded hefeweizen. Wheat and coriander at the front end, followed by a mild citrus taste. At the end is a mild hoppy bitter finish.

M: Good carbonation. Slight bite on the tongue, most likely from the coriander, possibly the alcohol.

O: It's a pretty nice and well rounded hefeweizen. The addition of the lemongrass was an excellent choice. It's a pretty good beer, but I am not finding the urge to have another. It's interesting, but isn't the best hefeweizen I've had. It lacks balance.

A : light yellow, a bit cloudy with a healthy head

S: citrus (orange & lemon) are very well balanced

T: smooth, almost a perfect reflection of the smell

M: light and refreshing, but maybe a bit too thin for my taste

Nice citrus aromas, lemongrass, coriander, pleasant grassy/green like good olive oil. A little yeasty, nicely carbonated, refreshing, and totally enjoyable. A little hazy consistent with the style, pours with a little neat white head on it. Just enough carbonation to be lively. Love the concept also - unearthing truly historic brews, science and art combined. Really just a fun brew to drink, IMHO.

This was the first craft beer beyond Blue Moon that I got my wife to try and her response as much simpler - "oooo...I like this". A rare and cherished response - victory is ours say the craft beer fans!

Poured into an imperial pint glass. Color was a nice golden hue, with a bubbly thin white head that had no cling. Large amounts of carbonation rose from the bottom. Aroma was a bit of wheat, mellowed nicely by orange citrus. Taste was clean, a bit of citrus up front, became herbal in the middle, with a bit of hoppy grain in the backend. Coated nicely, seemed a tad thin, but not bad. Overall, not bad. Well balanced flavor with a nice twist.

The first thing I will say is that the label art is simply awesome.

A: The color was very vibrant. It was super cloudy and white with some orange thrown in. Almost looked like some examples of gose I have seen but I have not seen many. A little less than half a finger of white head.

S: Super spicy. Tons of citrus and some lemongrass. Smelled like a thai dish in a lot of ways. A touch estery but it really was in check.

T: The taste was much like the nose. Lots of citrus and the lemongrass came across nicely. You get the corriander nicely that combines with the yeast to round it out.

M: Weird in a good way. heavier than I thought it would be. Sharp carbonation.

D: The only downside to this beer is the price. We got this in PA and split it with some friends down there. Good beer but unless it was a lot cheaper I would not go for it again. Refreshing summer drinker.

Pours a murky golden yellow with a good amount of white head. Lots of carbonation on this one. Smells wheaty and citrusy. Lots of coriander on the nose.
