A witbier bursting with good karma. Made with dried organic orange slices, fresh-cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander, this Belgian-style white beer is a great thirst quencher.

A-very pale yellow, good amount of creamy colored head, though you must be careful to pour slowly. very bubbly. lots of floating pieces in there.
S-lots of spices and wheat and fairly citrusy. very strong scent! i'm excited to taste it!
T-mmm a good, interesting, and different witbier. i feel the taste is focused more on the spices than the fruits. it leaves with a good white wheat flavor and the after-taste is focused on the orange and lemongrass. fairly complex and very fun!
M-medium to heavy carbonation...though its a soft feel to the mouth. has a good creamy finish!
D-at 5%, i'd say this is the most drinkable of the dogfish head 750mL bottles. the taste stays great, it goes down easily...what more could you ask for?

a- 750ml bottle poured into a weizen, hazy golden color, active bubbling, one and a half fingers worth of head that fade to a half inch and stays.
s- nice, orange jumps out and notes of zesty lemon, wheat is present, almost herbal, very appealing nose here.
t- taste echos nose, very nice orange notes - almost like marmalade, candi sugar, light bits of belgian with a touch of pepper and clove and pink bubblegum and banana here, this is damn tasty.
m- prickly at first then smooths out.
d- really nice, this dfh offering really impressed me, i'm hoping they'll make this one again. i enjoyed this back in november on a chilly night but it would be perfect on a summer afternoon.

(From notes made over spring break)
Had this one on tap at Brick Store Pub in Decatur, GA. Served in an accompanying DFH Signature Glass.
A--Poured a bright glowing color with a light, thin white head that dissipated rather quickly.
S--Sweet lemongrass, orange peel, corriander, lemons, pretty much exactly what I want a witbier to smell like.
T--Follows the nose, but not as well as I thought it would. The beer has a classic witbier flavor. The sweetness of the orange peel comes through. The back of the tongue has a slight bitterness that was a little unpleasant, but not something I would let deter me.
M--Light, crisp, and refreshing. This beer felt really good on the tongue.
O--This is a great offering from Sam and the guys at Dogfish. I could imagine sitting out on the beach this summer drinking these all day. One of the best witbiers out there.

A - The beer pours with one and a half fingers of white foam on top of a slightly hazy, straw-golden colored body. The head is supported by masses of rising bubbles and seems like it could persist indefinitely.
S - Very spicy with notes of coriander, ginger, clove, and lemongrass. Some bready wheat malt in the background.
T - Bready malt and wheat up front with some coriander. Some soft wheat in the middle and a bit of orange. The beer finishes with notes of orange and lemon peel with a hint of pepper.
M - Medium-thick body, high carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish.
D - Wow, this is surprisingly good. I am not generally a fan of witbier, but the balance between the wheat and the spices here works exceptionally well. The lemongrass the lemongrass is a really nice touch, it helps cut through the cloying thickness that many other wits seem to develop and it makes the beer taste much brighter. Unusually drinkable and very much worth trying.

750 mL brown bottle, bottled on "2011 1C" stamped on neck of bottle
A - Straw, towering white head that has excellent retention and spotty lacing down the glass.
S - Yeasty nose with lemongrass on the back with a touch of grassy hops.
T - Sweet lemon candy, then grassy flavors, some Belgian yeast with a slightly spicy finish.
M - Light body, high carbonation, very light and creamy across the palate. Finishes crisp and clean with little bitterness.
O - Very good tastes, nicely balanced. I didn't find the yeast to be as prominent as in other Witbiers, but that didn't take anything away from the beer at all. I'd definitely get it again.

Pours a hazy gold color with two fingers of fluffy white foam. Big swaths of lace left on the glass. Smell: yeasty with some punchy sweet citrus, floral, with wheat and coriander notes. Taste: sugary pale, wheat cracker, tangy, coriander, a little clove-like spiciness, a fleshier orange like navel, lemon peel note. Medium bodied, creamy, dry spiciness midsip but juicy finish. Really nice. July 2011 release.

A - Pours out a dark cloud golden color with a very fluffy/rocky white head. Head has excellent retention and lacing is amazing.
S - The nose is amazing. Tons of wheat, lemon peel, earth, grass and light sugars. Also getting a pepper like spiciness. Smells superb.
T - Wheat forward. Lots of lemongrass and spices. Some floral undertones. A sugar like sweetness is present in the finish with some lemon zest to back it up. Pretty damn flavorful and refreshing.
M - Medium bodied, creamy, soft. Carbonation is medium as well and does a good job keeping the beer smooth.
O - Outstanding job by Dogfish Head. Smells wonderful taste wonderful and feels great. Glad I dished out the 10 dollars for this one. Id do it again.

Bottle to Pilsner
750Ml
2011
App- A bit of a hazy golden yellow with a large two finger slow receding head. A bit of dots of cling. A nice looking wit.
Smell- Wheat, lemon, spice, grass, coriander, peel. What else could sam put in this one? Smells very clean and to style.
Taste- Of all the wits I have had. This one takes the cake. Retains the essence of what the style is all about. It has a nice wheat base with a bit of coriander and lemon/orange peel. A little thin spice with a balanced profile. Not too thin or watery but just good.
Mouth- A light bodied beer with a good wheat residual flavor with some lemon/orange zest and a little bit of coriander. A medium high carbonation to make it all blend together.
Drink- It's a very good wit. I have had some shitty ones and this is very good. One of the few I would come back too.

Pours a cloudy lemony color with a 3 finger white head. I looks like thick lemonade, or a lemony tropical drink. Light lacing.
Toasty grain and doughy yeast on the nose with light lemon.
Lightly sweet malt upfront, but primarily tart with lemony spice. The citrus/tart wheat/ coriander combo occasionally gives the impression of lemongrass.
Medium-bodied, slightly drying and peppery.
Perhaps I'm drinking this a bit past it's season, but it's still very refreshing. This would be a great summer beer.

Poured from the bottle a hazy grey-apricot color with two fingers of off-white head.
Fruity aroma of orange peel, spice, honey, apricot and yeast.
The taste is citrusy with orange peel along with the coriander and white pepper adding a bit of spice. Finishes with lemongrass note and a hint of yeast.
Light-to-medium bodied and a touch dry with a moderate carbonation.
So delicious. One of my favorite witbiers.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
A: Poured a nice golden color, a bit hazy with a white head that lasted a good while, but not a lot of lacing.
S: The aroma on this beer is great, you know it is a Belgian White. The yeast, orange peel, and lemongrass are all pretty evident.
T: Taste mirrors the nose, which is a great thing. There is a nice mix of orange and lemon along with some yeast/wheat. It has a perfect sweetness to it.
M/D: It is thin bodied with great carbonation. Was easy to drink and very refreshing, a great summer beer. Will have to go back and pick up another bottle or two.

took a bottle over for dinner with some friends. poured into a shaker pint.
Easy pour produced a huge bright white head.
the smell is lots of citrus and herbs, with a slight sweet malt nose.
The taste is crisp and refreshing. all the flavors of the herbs mixed with the light malts is just wonderful. so drinkable. Could easily down a 750 or 2 by myself probably on a hot summer day.
Too bad we don't get it out on the west caost.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a pint glass.
A- Pours a foggy straw yellow color with bubbly white head, about 2-3 fingers worth.
S- Coriander and spicy Belgian yeast aromas dominate the nose, with some bright fruitiness in the background.
T- Crisp, clean witbier flavor. Spicy and fruity with a wheaty twang at the end. Very little bitterness, with spice and fruit dominating the flavor profile.
M- Smooth and creamy. Not overly carbonated, and rather rich on the tongue.
D- Off the charts, very refreshing wheat beer.
I must say given its status as a Dogfish Head specialty beer I was expecting something a bit more outrageous, but was pleasantly surprised to find a nice, refreshing, balanced witbier. Good for the summer months, though maybe not worth the $9 a bottle. Wouldn't mind seeing this in 6-packs in the future though.

Pours a hazy pale golden hue with a bright white head, fine bubbled creamy textured head forms thick and leaves behind scattered lace. Aroma is so nice a full on assault of coriander citrus peels and lemongrass notes. Sharp bright wheat note as well it works together well, I really enjoy just smelling this stuff. Flavor wise this is an excellent witbier, it's rare to see any beer brewed this much to style. Other than the lemongrass there's not much stray from a typical wit and this is an excellent fresh version of one. Heavy on the coriander, for those sensitive to it this won't be your beer, but it's definitely a rounded coriander. It's complemented with orange peel bitterness and lemon grass herbal tones, soft wheat creamy character this is excellent stuff. Mouthfeel has sturdy but smooth carbonation creamy body carries itself well light to medium in girth. Clean spicy finish these spices don't sit on the palate the carbonation and citrus helps to clear the coriander. Drinkability overall is excellent a really drinkable version of a dead on American brewed witbier. I would get more but not for 10 to 12 bucks a 750ml bottle.

Extremely perfumy, vibrant, and fruity/citrusy, this beer provides an awakening spicy zest.
The pour delivers a hazy beer of canary yellow hue. Creamy white foam gives a fluid texture with good persistance and moderate lace. A classic Witbier appearance.
The aromas are the high point for the beer with a perfumy nose that is likely the best I've had. Bright orange zest, spicy corriander, lightly peppery, and with a fruity-alcoholic note that resembles tangerine marmalade.
Flavors are softly of pilsner malt and light wheat for a powdered sugar and bready taste. Layers upon layers of citrus zest and spice alternate from orange peel, lemon zest, peppery, cumin-like, grassy, and herbal-tea like notes throughout. All lead to a fleeting spicy finish.
With a soft, creamy, fresh upstart, the beer has a smooth fade towards a powdery dry finish with a minty alcoholic evaporative feel. Mild herbal hop bitterness provides light bitterness and dryness along side of the alcohol warmth and dry cracker-like maltiness.
A delicious Witbier with sharp aggression towards the spicy and aromatic notes, yet perserving the delicate and soft textures that make classic Witbiers so refreshing and thirst quenching.

750 mL bottle, served straight from the fridge in my Duvel tulip.
Namaste pours a hazy tangerine, it seems a shade or two darker than most wits that I've had. The pristine white head rises up to about three fingers in height, and shows tremendous resilience. Lacing is a bit sparse though. The nose is very lemony, with coriander as the primary supporting aroma rather than orange. The flavor is quite crisp, yet dominated entirely by yeast/spice notes. Lemongrass's influence is still the star here, though the flavor seems a bit more citrusy than the nose. Coriander is still present as a background note again. The body is nice and light and the carbonation starts out incredibly lively but dies down by the back end of each sip and avoids being too fizzy. Lemongrass is a wonderful addition to the standard witbier flavors, and helps make this one of my absolute favorite warm weather beers. As much as I do like Festina Peche, I find myself wishing this was available in 12oz bottles all summer.

750 mL bottle courtesy of fthomasl as a birthday brew. Pours very hazy with a huge and fluffy off-white head. Great lacing, a good looking brew here.
The lemongrass is actually noticeable on the nose. Coriander and orange of course, along with a soft, wheaty malt base.
Taste shows some very good, classic witbier flavors; pithy orange, tangy wheat and coriander. Nice and flavorful, and the mouthfeel is ultra soft and creamy...like drinking a cloud. Falls near the top of the class as far as wits are concerned...but still...a $10 witbier? Seriously? This style deserves to be affordable and put down a few without thinking too much. Great beer, but for as good as it is, I cant really see buying this again.

750 mL bottle poured in to a pint glass
A: This beer pours a hazy straw color yellow with a two finger of bone white head. Head retains nicely, fading to a film that retains throughout and leaves some spots of swirl lacing.
S: Nose is very heavy on wheat at the forefront, orange, and lemon grass.
T: Taste starts with a big dose of lemon grass mingled with flavoring of orange peel. Wheat and yeast take over the middle. Finish has the lemon grass flavoring with perhaps a hint of grapefruit moving in again with a peppery, coriander finish.
M: Medium body, medium carbonation, creamy mouth feel that stays coated on the tongue.
D: Goes down easily, nicely balanced, mild kick, nice representation of style. I really enjoy this beer - a little too heavy for summer drinking but on a nice early autumn night, this is really refreshing.

Poured into an Ommegang tulip. A thin, white, foamy head sits on top of a cloudy peach juice body. Almost no lacing.
Lots of juicy orange, a hint of coriander and a nice balanced helping of lemongrass. Floral and fruity. I really like the way this smells.
The flavor is malty, slightly lactic with orange and wheat. Some coriander, but it takes a back seat, which I like. The lemongrass adds a touch of acidity and tartness.
Mouthfeel is somewhat malty, yet crisp and refreshing on the finish. Carbonation is about spot on.
Drinkability is great. I really hope DFH brings this one back next summer. A perfect, refreshing summer afternoon beer. Quaffable and tasty. Not extreme like most of DFH's beers, but very well done. Worth picking up if you're looking for a balanced, tasty, easy drinking beer.

From a capped 750ml bottle stamped "bottled in 2010" into a shaped DFH pint glass. I picked this up a few months back during a visit to the DFH Rehoboth brewpub location.
Pours a cloudy straw yellow color with a finger of white head that has pretty good retention supported by the constantly rising bubbles of carbonation. There is a constant film of white bubbles atop this brew that congregates along the side of the glass in a thicker layer. A light swirl revives the cap back to a finger's strength and provides some faint patchy lace.
The aroma of this brew is fruity with the spice of coriander induced lemon, smooth lasting light banana notes, a bit of clove and a sweet candy smell like that of pink "original flavored" bubblegum. Overall this is a fine smelling witbier. The lemon is more pronounced than other examples of the style but overall it works and makes a very enjoyable blended yet bold nose.
The taste of this brew is light and refreshing. Right upfront is the taste of coriander with a pine-sol like exaggerated and almost fake tasting lemony flavor that is clingy to the inside of the mouth. There is a spice of clove included along with a smooth mellow banana flavor before it gives way to a very light wheat grainy base. It finishes fairly tart as expected for a wit. A little bit of belgian style alcohol warmth becomes evident in the backend of this brew.
This is a very easy drinking and enjoyable brew. It is light to medium bodied with a high level of carbonation. Overall it is well balanced yet bold with it's flavor and scent for the style. The lemony aspect could be tamed down a bit but it was a pleasure to drink and probably the best example of the style I have had in recent memory despite the exaggerated lemon flavor. This beer needs to be around come summertime next year.

Pours a light yellow with a mild greenish tint. Not much head but some lacing.
There is so much lemongrass in the scent. The flavor reminds me of lemon and mild oregano.
The flavor is very wheat filled followed by subdued lemon and grassiness. The malt backbone is substantial lending a good flavor.
The mouthfeel is light but the aftertaste is mildly dry and satisfying.
This is a very drinkable beer and is very enjoyable to drink. Very session worthy.

A - Pours a nice hazy golden color into my snifter with almost two fingers of dense white head. Retention is moderate as well as lacing, carbonation and sediment is visible.
S - Orange, lemon, biscuit, spice - coriander/clove, wheat and yeast and mild banana notes too. Smells very clean and refreshing.
T - Nice layers, lemongrass is at the forefront for me, followed by the spices of coriander and clove, orange rind that is slightly bitter and biscuit notes are present in the finish, surprisingly good.
M - Light, crisp and refreshing, just slightly too much carbonation for my palate.
D - This brew is light and refreshing, has many nice layers, enjoy now or set one aside for the summer months when it will be really pleasing.

Pours a whitish-yellow color with a thick, frothy head that fades down gradually, leaving lacing behind.
A mix of coriander, orange and only a slight hint of lemongrass show up in the nose. Very practical.
There's plenty of coriander within to satisfy, followed up by orange and a slight touch of lemongrass.
Mouthfeel is "airy" or "fluffy" with just the right feel for the style. There's just a hint of every flavor left.
I give this high marks for the emphasis on coriander and the excellent mouthfeel. Can you say extremely drinkable craft beer?

S: A nice aroma of malt, citrus, and some spices.
T: Tasted of orange, lemon, malt and some coriander. Not quite as dynamic as I would've hoped, but still pretty tasty. A well-rounded flavor.
